《Demonify》Small Extra/Intermission -The slime hero

The small slime sat on a tree branch peacefully.
He just got born recently so he was still quite hungry. Therefore he found a safe position on the wood and made sure he couldn’t accidentally fall by adhering to it. He basically created a small vacuum by sucking the air out between himself and the wood. Then he peacefully started disintegrating a few yummy leaves.
He preferred to be in an oval shape, like a raindrop that fell onto a smooth surface. Just a little rounder. His eyes were quite huge and covered nearly a third of his whole body, providing him with a rather large field of vision.
He usually kept them in the upper half of his body. His irises were violet and provided a small contrast with his milky white membrane.
Slimes were usually very peace loving creatures that mainly ate leaves and plants that they would disintegrate within their bodies. But if you provoked or angered them they would defend themselves and fight.
Just like right now.
“Squeaaak!” A distressed call echoed up to him from the forest ground below him.
Alarmed the white slime hopped along the branch towards a point where it could see the ground below.
What he saw shocked him motionless.
It was a human. The human held a pointy stick in his hand and kept on poking one of his fellow slimes with it!
She was another white slime that often ate together with him when they were still small slimelings in their nest. She was peaceful even for a slime and couldn’t even bear to hurt a caterpillar. Thus she simply couldn’t defend herself at all.
And that human tortured her continuously even though she just tried to hop away desperately.
Determined to help her, the slime concentrated and formed two whip-like arms out of his body. Before they could even form completely, he already selflessly hopped off the branch and directly onto the cruel human’s face. He adhered to his face, not doubting he would be killed if he fell and effectively sealed the vision of the man. Sadly he wasn’t big enough to cover the whole face yet and thus the human’s mouth stayed uncovered.

Then he used his newly formed arms and whipped them at the human repeatedly, not caring where on his body they landed, but trying to concentrate on the head.
The human was so surprised by his small ambush that he had dropped his pointy stick. So he could only helplessly cry out and pulled and punched at the slime, failing to get him off his face. The punches also didn’t really affect the heroic slime, seeing as his body consisted mainly of liquid and thus the unarmed man couldn’t harm him at all.
Only his nails scratched the surface of his membrane. The damage wasn’t anything he couldn’t repair in seconds though. He had just eaten after all and had enough energy to spare.
The human had lost his balance now and fell down. He proceeded to crawl around the floor, desperately trying to find his weapon or anything he could use to get the cursed slime off his face… but as fate wanted it he didn’t find anything and could only cry for help loudly.
The small female slime had recovered from her fright a little in the meanwhile and promptly started to disintegrate the pointy stick of the human. She had even managed to repair the worst holes in her membrane and squeaked at her hero slime thankfully.
The slime gurgled a short reply and told her not to worry about it, Then the human suddenly screamed in shock. One of the slime’s arms got stuck in his ear. The slime had whipped his arms around so fast that he had destroyed his eardrum and couldn’t pull it back out without absorbing it back into his body.
Thus he hesitated for a second, but then shrugged in its mind and curiously decided to explore this strange hole the human had in his head.

So he made his arm thinner and felt his way deeper inside the head of the human…
After just a few moments the human threw up with a pained grunt and then collapsed to the side, dead.
Suspicious the slime continued poking the man a few more times before absorbing his arms calmly back into his body.
He looked over to the female slime worriedly, but she just cheerfully hopped up and down, squeaking happily that she was fine to calm him down. He believed her and gurgled an OK towards her. After all he had jumped in quite fast and gave her enough time to repair herself before she lost too much liquid through the holes in her membrane. But just to be sure he would make sure she drank enough water later.
Then he looked back down towards the now dead human and squeaked thoughtfully.
If they just left him there, other humans would surely find him and try to get revenge. They couldn’t risk that.
Thus he made up his mind and whistled loudly. He was calling out other slimes that were closeby.
Not even 5 minutes later the forest floor around them was swarmed by slimes of all colors and sizes. After he had briefed them of the situation they quickly started disintegrating the human.
After all food was food.
While the others ate the slime he had saved came up to him and hopped onto his head, nuzzling up to him thankfully.
