《Archillies Duane : The World Traveller》Chapter 14

Out of excitement, I completely forgot the last Ability Book, so I brought it out of my ‘Pocket Dimension’.
Using ‘Inspect’, it told me that it teaches a special ability called ‘Rage’.
An Active Ability, which triples the user’s powers, in exchange for them to stop being conscious.
Meaning that the person will stop thinking rationally, which might be fatal.
Although I won’t need it, since Body Strengthening and Ki series have leveled up by quite a lot while I was asleep, I still ‘Read’ it.
The reason is that I can’t predict whether there will be someone stronger than not.
Then I thought, couldn’t I resist the ‘Can’t think rationally’ effect with WIL?
Not that it exists anymore, but it’s effect still persists.
I ordered the Arms to catch and subdue me if ‘Rage’’s effect wasn’t resisted, since I know that if the Arms fought me combined, I might lose.
Anyhow, I went back to the part where the Direwolf corpses still exist, and decided to bury them, as the sight is unsightly.
With some Earth Manipulation, I had the Arms move the corpses to the holes I made, since I do not want to dirty myself.
Once everything was clean, I set up an ‘Illusionary Barrier’, and got ready.
Making sure that the Arms are surrounding me, I activated ‘Rage’, and could feel my Instincts take over me.
Fighting over my consciousness as if it were a tug-o-war, I pulled as hard as I could, but it wasn’t enough.
The instincts won, and I lost consciousness.
…
I’m back again, to the same familiar darkness, but Rain was nowhere to be found.
I could tell it was a dream since my jacket wasn’t with me anymore.
Floating around, I once again found an abnormality, but rather than the darkness being sucked into it, it was being repelled, just like in my case.

Once I strained my eyes, I could recognize that figure, and that jacket.
For one reason or another, I couldn’t resist smiling upon seeing her, and floated as quick as possible towards her.
She was sitting while holding her knees towards her face, but I averted my eyes as much as possible.
The problem is that she isn’t wearing any clothes, and that position is too exposing.
She moved her eyes, and once she found me, her face looked as if it lightened up, and she stood up quickly and floated towards me.
Once I got close enough, I stopped in my tracks, but she didn’t.
She enveloped me in a hug, and I could feel her warmth on the jacket.
My face started burning, and my mind started panicking, but it decided in an instant to hug her back.
“I’m back, Rain.”
For one reason or another I could feel tears falling onto my clothes, and she clung to me tighter, and I did the same.
We stayed like that for a while, stroking her hair, until she felt like letting go, then I stopped and let her go.
“What happened?”
I asked, with as much concern as possible.
“When you suddenly left, I thought you aren’t coming back.”
“What made you think like that?”
“I don’t know.. it just occured to me.”
There is a chance that I might have not come back for a long time, but I never thought that she, who I met for 5 minutes, would get so worried.
Not knowing what to do, I let my feelings take over me, and I pulled her into a hug.
She didn’t resist, but closed her eyes and left herself in my care.
I stroked her hair as I did before, and I could feel her body relaxing.
“Look.. I can’t guarantee that I can come and stay here whenever, and you might have to wait longer than last time.”

She raised her face from my chest and looked at me with puppy-like eyes.
“Why?”
She asks, with a sad tone.
“Well, it all depends when I go to sleep, and when I wake up.”
“Sleep?”
“Yeah. I can only come here in my sleep… Hey, I have an idea..”
I take out the ‘Necklace of Communication’, and hand it to her.
Changing its connection to my own clothes, I should be able to talk to her from the outside, unless she is just a projection of imagination.
Making a mental note of buying her some clothes, most likely a dress, and some underwear, but that will be hard to justify why for.
Anyhow, we stayed in that pose, until darkness once again kicked me out, with a terrible feeling appearing in my heart in its place.
…..
I opened my eyes, and I found myself laying on the ground, with my face into it.
I tried to stand up but I felt resistance, so I knew the Arms were holding me.
“I’m back, you can let me go now.”
Finally, I could feel their grips on me loosen, and then I stand up.
Looking around me, the terrain looks as if it was hit by a few dozen iron rods from space, except for the non-existent iron rods that is.
The trees were toppled over and burning, mountains that shouldn’t be here exist, cracks in the ground could be seen, one of those mountains seem to be a volcano that is about to erupt.
Marks in the ground showing that there was sliding, others were Arms, last one was mine.
Feeling bad for it, I cancel the ‘Illusionary Barrier’, getting greeted by a lush, green forest once again.
I tried talking to Rain through my clothes, but I didn’t find the enchantment so I put it again.
“Hello?”
I said, hoping for a greeting.
“Archillies?”
Once I heard her voice, I felt great happiness.
“Hold on, I’ll try to do something.”
I looked through my ability list, remembering that I had one ability that allowed me to teleport others.
Hoping that I’ll be able to teleport her, I used it, and I could feel nearly all the mana within me leave.
Clenching my teeth, I withstood the sudden fatigue from mana loss.
Finally, it stopped draining and I could feel mana regenerate.
In front of me, sparkles started to appear, then suddenly, she appeared in front of me.
She was not wearing anything except the necklace, so I took off my jacket and wrapped it around her, then embraced her.
“Wha… where am I?”
She asked, confused.
“You are out..”
“I.. am outside?”
“Yeah…”
In disbelief, she looked around frantically, until she finally accepted the situation she is in.
Although she was ‘came to earlier’, it must have felt quite lonely, with nothing but darkness around her.
She started crying again, tears of joy, then a pop up came for me.
-Ding!
“Second Skill tree has been planted, listing available attributes…”
After this pop up, another one came up.
Air element Earth element Fire element Water element Blood element Soul element Ice element Dark element Necromancy Plant element Bacterial element Space element Metal element Attributeless element Light element Mind element Spirit element
-Ding!
“Would you like to see the course of the seed? Y/N”
Feeling curious, I said yes, and in that moment, I saw 24 hours of another life in my mind, making me feel dizzy.
But I can’t complain, one good thing after another, eh?

Apex Immortal: a LitRPG system rampage
"Across the multiverse where the contest for power is the only constant, only a handful have succeeded in reaching the ultimate heights of ascendency and gained the title Apex Immortal. Dominus is one of them, unsurpassed in overwhelming violence, feared across universes. Now, memories locked and stranded far away from everything he’d built, Dominus will face enemies that will challenge even his powers and discover that change is more difficult than destruction." I’ve been writing fiction on and off for the last decade and I’ve always wondered how a peak immortal (or an OP superhero) would single handedly conquer a world that mirrors our own in all of its complexity. As a politics nerd, this is my attempt at answering that question using Machiavelli’s “The Prince” as the primary playbook. The “monsters” are entire political systems with entrenched culture. Expect many versions of real world political systems (and cultures) to be on the hit list. The MC has to successfully institute regime and cultural change without engaging in wholesale genocide and causing the state to fail. Expect things to go wrong pretty quickly as escalating and cascading political and economic effects rapidly go out of control. Methods deployed are not for the faint hearted.
