《Archillies Duane : The World Traveller》Chapter 8

-Ding!
“You have leveled up x45”
I ignored that message for now.
The reason of my happiness is something else.
Realizing that when I leveled up in the first duel, I had enough Skill Points to unlock the last skill.
I opened up the Skill Tree and went towards it, finding the skill called : ‘Bear Fruit’.
Although having such a weird name, my hope didn’t waver, and I went over to check the description.
‘Bear Fruit : 24 hours after the skill is activated, a new Skill Tree will be born somewhere in another world, which will allow for new Skills to be acquired, depending on the place it was planted on. Limit : Once per year’
Dumbfounded by the skill in front of me, my mouth gaped open.
What does this mean?
With such a great cost, I’m able to acquire new skills.
For others, that means become stronger, but due to the chance of it being in a non-matching environment, the skills might come out useless.
But as for me, I’m confident in my LUK stat.
I activated the skill, losing a total of 1000 points in one go, but it is for a great cause, I thought.
Dismissing the Skill Menu, I used the spatial magic ‘Pocket Dimension’ to store away my knuckledusters, then started calming down the hands who were floating around me in circles, from happiness, of course.
A Healer came out from the crowd and went to check on Isabelle, who was lying sprawled on the floor.
He cast multiple healing spells on her, then motioned me to carry her, since this is an unsightly scene.
I gave her a princess carry, while looking awkward due to the difference in height.
I did not care, and followed the Healer to the Guildmaster room, then dropped her off on the couch.

Inspecting the room, it was very simple.
Just like an office, the opposite wall from the door has a window, enchanted with many strong defensive runes, and in front of it was a comfortable looking chair with feather stuffings, while the skeleton was made of the mahogany-like wood, with the same type used on the table.
On the table lies some parchments, with an ink bottle with a quill in it.
That was the right side.
On the left side lies a nameplate, and a Bell, possibly with the same attributes as the one in the castle.
The Healer, who was staying with me to monitor, saw the direction of my gaze and started to talk.
“Interested in the Calling Bell?”
“Aye.”
“I remember when I was a child, my dad, an enchanter, made bells similar to that one.”
He proceeded to tell me the story about how his dad told him about the bell.
Originating from the north, a genius enchanter appeared a century ago, and his debut was when he made the Calling Bell.
Useful for many things, such as, calling for works, alerting guards, etc.
The way it works is an earring connected with the Bell through a special magic bond.
Well, that was the summary of it.
Since the explanation took about 30 minutes, the sleeping beauty has finally woke up.
“Nnngh…”
She got up as if she was actually sleeping, and started stretching.
Once she noticed me and the Healer, she had a confused look on her face, until she realized what happened.
“I lost again, huh..”
“Sorry ‘bout that, and thanks for the help.”
“Help?”
“I told you that I needed to gauge the power of SS ranks, and you were my best bet. Once again, many thanks.”

She started blankly at me for a while, until the Healer broke the silence.
“Now then, milady, since all the talk is done, I suggest you rest for a while.”
I nodded, then stood up, said goodbye, then left the room with the Healer.
“Thanks for the saving.”
“No problem, I’m thankful for someone who listened to my story intently.”
I got back to the reception, with people giving me looks of astonishment, while others who weren’t present in the duel got curious and started questioning those who looked like they knew.
I ignored them and went out of the guild, feeling accomplished as one of my objectives was completed, then I started pondering.
What is the System?
In the books, many people took it for granted, while others did extensive research, till they come up empty handed.
But then I thought.
Nanomachines?
If the meteor came from an advanced civilization’s planet being destroyed, and having surviving Nanomachines on it, wouldn’t that work?
I continued on my way towards the inn, with a growling stomach that had to endure a morning without breakfast.
If I were to estimate, it would be about 4 PM right now.
Someone might ask, where did you sleep?
I didn’t.
Opening the door humbly, I stepped in and went towards the bar to ask for food.
Or so was my intention, until I met a familiar face.
“Accept the duel!”
Said Grovan, with a furious tone.
Oh boy, what a great way to start dinner!
