Chapter 5
Michael Estrisden POV (Tuesday 1630ish)
Exiting the lift Michael nodded to the security guard behind his desk. From there he exited the apartment complex and a few seconds later entered the back seat of a black SUV. Within moments the car entered the traffic. It was all very organized and Michael took a moment to feel awesome. That feeling dissipated by the time the car hit the fourth red light in a row. His family home was about half an hour from the city center. During the wait he read the forums tab on ‘Gods Online’ website through his tablet.
It seemed Gods Online appeared without warning about a month ago. From there its popularity quickly rose. A resounding theme was one of surprise, it seemed nobody had heard of the game before the trailer suddenly came out. The very idea of a VR game with such high graphics was unfeasible. That was until ‘Gods Online’ arrived. Another common theme was outcry at the exorbitant price of the capsule. It was around $3499.99 for pre-order. With the capsule came the game, with a 6-month free subscription. Michael was rather sympathetic to those that couldn’t afford the price. Perhaps if they had longer than a month to save up it would be different. Thankfully, (for those who couldn’t afford it) Jupiter Enterprises declared that in the following months the capsule would reduce in price. If the forums were anything to go on. There were hundreds of thousands of people waiting for the price to drop. If not more. Michael really had no idea how he had failed to hear of the game until the email yesterday. The games advertisements really seemed to be everywhere. He had passed at least three billboards advertising it while passing through the city.
There was also a massive argument on which territory would be the best place to start. Michael really found it confusing. There was almost no information on the territories other than their name and what kind of territory they are. The Vikingesque territory was a kingdom, the Kingdoms were a mix of cultures, The Empire seemed to resemble the Roman Empire, it was suggested that the Sand people were tribal in nature but like the rest very little was known about them. Whether they even had cities was unknown. Michael figured he’d make a spontaneous decision when he was in character creation. Perhaps there would be more info there.

The SUV pulled into an exit on the motorway and realizing he was nearing home he turned off the tablet. Michael was curious about what his father and sister wanted. Especially since both seemed to think it was important enough to talk in person. Though likely his sister just wanted something. She would be better able to put her wide eyes to greater success face to face. Although his father was intimidating he was far more anxious about his mother. He had yet to return his mother’s calls. She wouldn’t be pleased. He had spent last night racking his brain on what he may have done to spark a phone call. If he knew he could have produced a feasible excuse. Unfortunately, this plan was going to backfire as he no idea what he had done wrong.
Heading down the long driveway into his family’s property proper. He took a moment to admire this picturesque garden which was so near the center of the city. The house proper was separated into several different buildings. From a library to swimming pool there was quite a variety. The main house was three floors tall and while roomy, Michael had always wondered why it wasn’t bigger. As the car at the closest point to the house Michael thanked the nameless driver and exited the vehicle. With a heavy sigh Michael knocked on the thick door.

Our Shattered Realms
*This is a learning experience for me so please keep in mind that I am attempting to work on some of the issues brought to my attention early on. However I haven't yet gone back to redo the early chapters.* Less than two days ago every piece of electronics in the world stopped working for more than two hours. The death toll was immense. Hospital equipment failed, cars stopped in the middle of the street, planes fell from the sky, and homework was lost at the worst possible moment. We found out that it was just the flicker and hum of The System warming up. Now we see the true cost of our new world. A Dark comedy that focuses on a few of the many people who aren't stuck in a high level dungeon when our world is translated and joined to Our Shattered Realms. This is my first story that I have published. I welcome any criticism that you have for me. Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy!

Unto Dark
A man of cripplingly ill mind, bridled with the spirits and regrets of the past. Wade Pierce trudges through each day of his monochrome existence, only as penance for his sins. Such a man is abruptly decamped of this world courtesy of unapologetic forces, left stranded in a realm filled with unknowns. Armed only with his potent yet fragile intellect, Wade advances into this new abyss, as he attempts to rewrite the wrongs he has committed. Plagued by vile beasts, self-righteous Gods, and even his own seething darkness, the cracks in his mind begin to spread and a dangerous, newfound power bubbles beneath the surface. As the world grows darker day by day, this unfortunate journey begins ------------ I suppose rectitude dictates that I should state any themes worthy of noting here. First of all, this story is not a sunshiny one in the slightest. Since it is listed under the psychological and mature tag and not the comedy tag, that shouldn't be a surprise. Next, morbidity is a factor and general apathy towards human life. All of these are common themes amongst other writers, so nothing new there. The story also contains consensual, and non-consensual sexual activity, although I have tried to be as tasteful as is possible for someone like myself. Finally, the pace is drawn-out, and the language is magniloquent at times. Not to mention, the chapters are quite lengthy. Don't expect to read this halfheartedly... Other than that, enjoy the story... There's nothing more important than that...

The Bracelet I Got Was More Than I Bargained For
Andrew and his friends, Isaac, Lisbeth, and Cameron meet a shady man on the way home from school. This man promises them adventure on another world, called Calorin, if they are willing to help him with an experiment. This experiment requires the use of a bracelet, one that cannot be removed once bonded to but will give them abilities such as healing or enhanced strength. Thanks to some peer pressure Andrew reluctantly agrees to join the experiment. The friends are soon on their way to Calorin but Andrew notices feelings coming from the bracelet, ones that want nothing to do with the strange man. It is just before they arrive at their destination that the bracelet changes everything for Andrew and he finds himself separated from his friends and the strange man. Stuck in the middle of a forest Andrew will need to find out where he is, how to find his friends, and why the bracelet has been acting the way it has. Author's Note:This story is a sidequel/prequel to Artifice: Tools of the Gods. As it only has one or two connected characters there is no need to read one or the other to understand them.
