“Sir as requested, the progress report on the Ascension project.”
Receiving a thick manila folder with TOP SECRET written in big bold red words across the cover, an average-looking man dressed in a black turtleneck and jeans quickly and quietly flipped through it before tossing it onto his desk.
“Excellent, 80% of the first 5,000 users have already logged on to Ascension within the first twelve hours of launch and zero incidents thus far. Have we pin-pointed any outstanding users?”
“There have been approximately eighty users thus far who have breached level 30… There are a few other anomalies but the team has deemed it too early to decide their worthiness. Almost all of our 2,000 handpicked candidates are performing beyond standard levels though some are hindered due to the lack of gaming experience at this stage.”
“Excellent, how about Project Omega?”
“All subjects but two have been successfully convinced and inserted on schedule. All records and trails relating to the remaining forty-eight subjects have been erased and all surviving relations and connections have been informed of their deceased status. Project Omega launch was completed three hours ago, all subjects have been scattered in throughout Athal’s final continent.”
“And their progress?”
“All subjects are beyond level 50 and progressing at an incredible pace… We have seen nothing comparable, furthermore their brain activity levels are rapidly increasing and gradually exhibiting unknown patterns. Our neurological team warns that possible breakdowns can occur and we might lose subjects rapidly. They recommend re-instituting the neural dampeners as per Project Ascension.”
Drumming his fingers on the desk, the man considered the recommendations for a few seconds before issuing his commands in a cold emotionless voice.
“No. Prepare additional subjects, if necessary.”
“Understood sir.”

The King is Back
Life in the forest is all that the unnamed boy has known for all his life. After being abandoned by his parents years ago, his only salvation is the martial art and books that his father left him. One day, after encountering an unforeseen incident, the boy learns of his true lineage in a secret kingdom which is more technologically advanced than the rest of the world. Important Note: This is going to be an evolving story as I write. I am sure many of you will have plenty of criticisms for the earliest/earlier chapters and some of them are justified but I intend to continuously improve as I progress through the story. I hope you stick with me until then. Features: Technology Gap, Mechs in a Fantasy World, Conspiracies and Mysteries, Epic Adventures! Note: Mechs will be featured but it is NOT the main thing about this story. There will be extended periods of time of a more grounded story rather than mech warfare. But worry not, there will also be times of full-on glorious mech battles so keep reading! Cover art from an artwork done by Adam Burn. I do not own any of the copyrights of the image. Beloved Protection from a nine tailed fox
Kieren is a young man who is the heir of his family's powerful corporation. He grew up learning from his beloved grandmother who not only taught him the skills needed to run his family corporation but also how to love, responsibility and most importantly how to stay alive as a half kitsune in the land of demons which is accessible through the dreams of powerful aristocratic bloodlines. This is my first time writing a story and constructive criticism is welcome. Please feel free to comment on anything you might find wrong with the story. Also I have a full outline of the story made so I will most likely not end up dropping this story in the middle like some authors have done. Enjoy!
