《A Man and His Greatsword》Chapter 1: A New Encounter

Eden gave a large smile before creating some magic circles under me. "Have fun in your new adventure, Michael Adkins. Oh, and do say hi to me again. Any church will do the trick, just speak to one of the statues inside. I'll respond as quickly as I can." A light surrounded me as a felt weightless. I closed my eyes to block out the light. When I reopened my eyes, I had appeared in a forest.
"Where the hell am I?" Observing my surroundings, I picked a random direction and set off. I had a feeling that something was staring at me but dismissed it as paranoia.
As I made my way through the forest, I still had the nagging feeling of something staring at me. Unnerved, I spotted a boar about 30 meters away. I crept closer to it until a blue screen similar to my status popped up above its head.
Tusk Boar Level: 6 Health: 170
Seeing its level scared me for a second, but I steeled myself and approached it silently. 20 meters, 10 meters, 5 meters. As soon as I got within 5 meters of it, I ran out and directly punched it in the side of the head. A notification popped up as I hit it.
Sneak Attack Critical! 2.5x Damage Multiplier Added!
Ecstatic at the new notification, I was distracted and the boar used this opportunity to turn and hit me with a charge. I was thrown back a few meters but managed to land on my feet. The boar had a new bruise on the side of its face. Suppressing the pain, I stared daggers into the boar as it charged at me. I swiftly sidestepped the charge and punched it in the side. I felt a few of its bones break as I hit it. The boar fell to the floor limply and twitched a few times before the light faded from its eyes.

Level Up! Level Up! New Skill! Sneak Attack: An attack made from a state of stealth, deals more damage on hit Mastery: Beginner 1 Effect: 2% New Skill! Pain Resistance: Your level of resistance to pain; the higher it is, the less pain you'll feel Mastery: Beginner 2 Effect: 4%
I was surprised and happy. Pain tolerance would help me in the future and sneak attacks would be useful for times I would have to be discreet. I checked my status and I had 20 points to allocate. I placed 10 in strength and 5 each for agility and dexterity. After placing my points in my status, I continued through the forest with the feeling of being watched reappearing.
As I continued walking, I saw a village in the distance. A beautiful girl appeared in front of me at this moment, she had long flowing black hair and crimson eyes. She had a bountiful chest and a slim figure clad in light leather armor.
Seeing my heated gaze, she returned a cold one while pointing a sword at my throat. Raising my hands in the air, cold sweat appeared on my forehead and back.
"Speak, why are you here outsider?" said the girl. As I looked closer, I noticed she had fox ears on her head and a tail swishing around behind her.
"I'm just passing by..." She didn't seem to like this answer as she pressed the tip of her longsword closer to my throat.
"Lies! I know you humans, you lie and betray to fulfill your own desires. Speak of your true purpose!" She had a domineering tone in her voice, but I didn't submit.
"Like I said, I'm just passing by. I'm pretty much lost and don't know where I should go to find a human settlement. Can I stay here for a few days?" I heard rustling from some bushes nearby. It seems like they're the guards of the fox village. They were clad in leather armor and had bows slung over their backs.

"Let him go.", one of the guards said, "He doesn't look like he means any harm." The girl then reluctantly sheathed her sword and asked, "What is your name, human?".
"Michael Adkins, looks like I'll be here for a while." The girl then introduced herself. "Jane Crimson. Come with us, but don't try anything or I'll take your head." We proceeded to the village where I received the stares of many foxkin.

Breaking Horizons: Book 1: Snared Origins
Many want to learn things from a story, while others only want fast-paced wonders. We are human and we like to dream, we are alive and we want to feel. Don’t wander outside before knowing the inside. Even if this is slow, it gives you the reader, things to behold. This is a story but also knowledge. It isn’t fast or entertaining but makes you wonder. Everything starts from something unknown, we all want to know the untold. However, can you persevere if something starts being boring? Shouldn’t entertainment start from something unexciting? Open a door to what you might know or not. Learn to dream in my unhealthy abode. Start from the garbage since that’s the place where I belong. Welcome to Raccoon’s abode. Breaking Horizons: Breaching the Fourth Dimension. A slow story that will take you on a ride towards the unknown. PS: Will make things clear here. The actual main character is a human, the raccoon is a pet for the novel. So it isn't a raccoon Isekai or reincarnation as a raccoon. I still haven't added it to the story, as I am currently doing the intro. A long intro! So the start might feel off when you read it. The story will include many genres but starts with psychological stuff and low fantasy. The whole story is an enormous puzzle, but it starts with a tiresome beginning for many. There is a reason for that... If you want to know more about this story check my discord: https://discord.gg/rZs6mem You can ask what you want to know there. Or join a bigger and cooler server where many authors hang out: https://discord.gg/2hbvq8B (Its dungeon engineer and many cool stories' server) This is my own story, so its for me only. I will not have a schedule. I left it on hiatus for a while, can't write two stories, too busy.
