Chapter Seven

The day of the Quidditch match finally arrived. The weather was shockingly cold and frost covered the Quidditch pitch. Ravenclaw's Quidditch team were galvanized by the sudden rivalry with Slyverin. The Ravenclaw team lost against Huffelpuff in their last game but they seem so motivated its hard to see them losing. Not to mention Slyverin's tactics rely simply on pure strength to crush their opponents, which makes them the perfect match for the wily Ravenclaw team. The Captains of both teams met at the center of the pitch to shake hands. The pair looked so intense that if electricity could flow from their eyes towards each other it wouldn't be out-of-place. Madam Hooch began the game and immediately it turned into Slyverin's show of brute force. They pushed the Ravenclaws back, the bludgers were aimed squarely at the heads of the Ravenclaw team. It took everything in Ravenclaws repertoire to avoid a catastrophe. Ravenclaws beater finally hit one bludger into another and like a pool trick shot in the air, they flew towards the unsuspecting Slyverin seeker. With an almighty Bang! the seekers broom was smashed as he spiraled down towards the ground crashing into the hard frosty pitch. Sadly however while this was going on the Slyverin team was outscoring and out flying the Ravenclaw team. As time wore on the Slyverin side had scored 14 times to give them a score of 140. if this continues not even catching the golden Snitch for its 150 points is going to save Ravenclaw. Suddenly though Ravenclaw changes tactics. the two beaters began aiming not at the Slyverin's but at their own seeker. The Slyverin's were momentary confused by this but quickly realized why they had done this. The Ravenclaw seeker was flying unopposed towards the golden Snitch, but was struggling to keep up with the speed of the Snitch. The beaters were using the bludgers to hit the Snitch and stop it from darting away from the seeker. Realizing this the Slyverin team hurriedly regained possession of the Quaffle. They flew towards the exhausted looking Ravenclaw keeper with such speed and power that is was intimating. They threw the Quaffle right towards the rings on the pitch and just as it scored them another 10 points the game was called to an end. The Ravenclaw seeker had caught the Snitch and much to Ravenclaw's disappointment and Slytherin's relief the game was called a draw with both teams scoring 150-150. The star of the game is regarded by everyone to be the Ravenclaw beaters whose outstanding skill and unconventional tactics removed the threat of the Slyverin seeker whilst also making it easier for Ravenclaw to catch the Snitch. The photo finish of both teams scoring left everyone's hearts beating quickly as they were all aware they just witnessed the greatest Quidditch game in some time. The spectators were cheering their hearts out and when the Ravenclaw Beaters raised their bats to the air the cheer grew even louder. Even though the game was called a draw it was the Ravenclaw's who seemed to come out of this game with the more cheerful faces. Because of this game the Quidditch cup is wide open for any team to win making it one of the most interesting seasons in recent history.

Within days the Ravenclaw beaters had being lionized within their house. Their method of solving a problem in-front of them using a method one would not usually expect emboldened every Ravenclaw within the school. Penny was no different, until now her thirst for knowledge was based solely on her desire to survive. The Quidditch match however has forced her to assess the limitations in such line of thought. Within the Ravenclaw house most students strive to accomplish something. Unlike other houses though a Ravenclaw strives to accomplish something for themselves and them alone. It is usually something that no one has ever seen that way before. The best example would be the head of Ravenclaw Professor Flitwick. There were many times in his life where people questioned his borderline obsession with charms. To most people charms are kind of gateway into other avenues of magic, but to the Professor he saw in it more potential than it was credited with. By becoming so well versed with charms, he had a foundation far greater than others to build upon. It is said that his unending quest to learn more about charms is a big reason of why he became such a dominant dueling champion. Penny who had recently been experimenting with castling multiple enchantments has started to see her own path that she is determined to walk on. She calls this theory Composite Magic, she hole heatedly believes that rather than piling enchantment after enchantment of charm after charm that one would find greater results by combining complimentary spells. Penny was sat in the Ravenclaw common room talking to Sebastian about such ideals. Sebastian listening to its masters proposition responded in kind, soon the pair were deep in theoretical conversation pushing each other further along. Sebastian even had the idea that its personality and mannerism's were greatly influenced by the composite spells its master used to create it. In fact Penny had also had a similar thought and wondered if she had performed any other enchantments during the creation she wondered if its personality would be different. Penny began jotting down every last thought she had on this composite magic in a blank notebook. She wrote down combinations and their effects and how they can be improved or made to be cast easier. This along with most of Penny's belongings were kept within Sebastian.

After the Quidditch match the enmity between Slyverin and Ravenclaw seemed only to have grown. One day after lessons Penny, Agnes, and Drew were just about to go outside after Transfiguration. Agnes and Drew were discussing the Transfiguration homework. Professor McGonagall has given every member of the class a small teapot that was once a snail. They have to turn back to its original state before their next lesson. The way to go about this is by using the Reparifarge spell. Penny seeing no need in wasting time completed the spell and gave her snail back to a shocked Professor McGonagall before leaving the classroom. As they leave the castle grounds in order to get some fresh air Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle come marching over towards the three. "Think you're some kind of big shot giving McGonagall the snail right away don't you, your worse than that mud-blood from Gryffindor". Penny sighed and attempted to ignore Malfoy which annoyed him even more. "Oi I'm talking to you, who do you think you are ignoring me?" Drew getting fed up of the blow hard attitude tells Malfoy "go away Malfoy, unlike you no one else likes the sound of your voice". Malfoy's brow creased and he began clenching his teeth. "WHAT WAS THAT MUD-BLOOD?! DON'T LET YOUR FILTHY MUD-BLOOD VOICE CONTAMINATE MY EARS!" Drew squared up to Malfoy. It looked as though they were going to exchange blows any moment. Crabbe and Goyle soon intervened like the good little lackeys they are. Penny watched their movements closely. Crabbe was the first to move his hand went directly for his wand. Before even one finger touched his wand Penny sprung into action. Luckily for them she was feeling playful and cast a Bat-Bogey Hex. Crabbes nose erupted with a huge amount of bogeys that had transformed into bats. The green gooey bats were flapping around the Slyverin boys. With each flap of their wings green mucus slime was splattered onto their robes. The students around erupted into howls of laughter. Malfoy was trying to shield himself from the splatting bogeys by hiding behind Goyle. More and more bat-bogeys were flying out of Crabbes nose. Eventually this gathered the attention of one of the teachers. As per usual when Malfoy gets into any kind of trouble it happened to be Professor Snape who came to their rescue. Snape quickly used a counter curse stopping the Bat-Bogeys. Snape's eyes locked directly onto Penny's "Miss Partridge, My Office immediately". Malfoy grinned like he had won some kind of victory, Penny not bothered by Malfoy and his cronies any longer replied to Snape "for what reason Professor?" Snape was shocked his authoritarian air was being challenged. "You cast a curse on a fellow student in full view of a member of staff". Snape was seething, if there was one thing he disliked was a child you thought they knew better than him. "Well then Professor if it was in full view of an excellent teacher such as yourself, then surely you saw Crabbe reached for his wand after the derogatory remarks one of your Slyverin's shouted loud for everyone to hear". Unlike the usual younger people who are terrified by Snape, Penny looked him directly into his eyes. She was well aware how talented Snape is with Occlumency and Leglimency but felt none of the tell-tale signs of encroachment. Penny decided to give the nail one final hammer as she continued her verbal offensive towards Snape "Or are you saying that People of your fine house are allowed to attack students verbally and physically with no response. What would you have done if I hadn't have been able to stop Crabbe from using who knows what dark magic on us". Snape clicked his tongue loudly in frustration, he looked around he was well aware there were plenty of witnesses to back up the Ravenclaw students story. "Also Professor are you willing to prove certain students right, Is it true that the highly intelligent and well-respected Serverus Snape is so biased towards his own house that he over looks such serious deeds in order to punish those of other houses in their stead?" What most annoyed Snape was that unlike certain Gryffindore students, Penny of Ravenclaw was calmly stating what happened and wasn't falling into any anger filled diatribes that he could use against her. In fact she was cornering him with her words leaving him little choice than to act in a manner she predicts, Just who is this girl? He wondered. "Crabbe ten points from Slyverin for an unprovoked attack using your wand" Snape then looked at Malfoy, He hated the phrase Mud-blood, his memories flowing back to the time he lost his closest friend and the woman he loves Lily Evans, in his sorry he recalled spitting out that disgusting word in anger towards her. "Mafloy fifty points from Slyverin" Malfoy was astonished the Snape would actually take points away from him for what he deemed such a pathetic reason. Snape turned away quickly, his black cloak fluttering behind him as he grabbed the three Slyverin's and escorted them away. Everyone's mood was brightened by what they saw. Some Gryffindore students even referred to it as the Miracle of Hogwarts seeing Snape take points away from Slyverin. Little did Penny realize though that from this moment on Snape would be far more weary of the young girl from Ravenclaw, in-fact he now beginning to suspects her of being the one who altered the three Slyverin students memories.
