《Cursed Anti-Hero Against the Gods》Ch 5 First Battle Adapting to a New World

The pack of what appeared to be hybrid goblins only stared at the Death Gods Scythe, the few goblins that looked to be melee fighters were wearing what appeared to be crudely stitched together beasthides and they had rusted daggers or chipped and rusted swords, with a carved out wooden shield. Behind them appeared to be what I could only assume was the leader. I couldn't tell if it was male or female because it didn't look anything like the clearly male warriors up front but it was seriously too ugly to look female at all. But none the less it appeared to be a mage from what I could observe as it had your typical pointy mage hat that you would see in movies, and it was chanting non-stop. I made an attempt to discern what it was saying but then decided against it.
Eradin attempted to enter into a stance that would keep the goblins at bay with his weapon's long reach, then he set his sights on the mage in the back, of all the goblins here, it seemed to be the one that would cause the most problems for him. Eradin felt his blood begin to boil and all thoughts of anything other than the annihilation of the all obstacles in front of him disappeared, his only thought was to kill. He was the first to move, Eradin leaped forward with all the skill he could muster and used long sweeping strikes to spread the goblins in the front, a total of four, into two groups. But when he did so, Eradin felt pressure weighing him down, it was the second part of the Space/Time Gods curse of increased gravity upon Eradin. Not factoring it in, Erading just fell short of the Goblin Mage who had finished chanting. In the next moment, a cone of fire appeared, and the edge of it burned the right side of Tirins face and neck. Then he felt the pain increase from the Life Goddesses curse.
These damn curses, I forgot to factor them in, I basically have a permanent vulnerability spell on me at all times. Not a problem though, you are not getting away now that you are in my reach.
[Trait: Fire Resistance Learned]
[Hp:130/140]
Eradin didn't have time to see the messages appear before him, as he once again delved into a battle frenzy, but the pain of the burn on his face began to slowly ease into a throbb instead, and in the next instant, after adjusting to his new fighting range with the Space/Time Gods Curse factored in, he once again leapt towards the Goblin Mage who was backing up frantically while chanting. The four Goblin Warriors also recovered from the unexpected outburst of Eradin and clumsily charged towards him, but it was too late. With a sweep of the Death Gods Scythe, Eradin cleaved right into the chest from the right and then once again from the left leaving a massive "X" mark upon the Goblin Mage. Then it died and fell apart into multiple dismembered body parts.
[Souls Absorbed: 1 Soul Points gained: 5]
[Fused Body Equipment Exp: .5%/100%]
[Exp: Deferred until all enemies disposed]
Eradin immediately jumped forwards upon dispatching the Goblin Mage, thanks to the new sensory skills he learned, despite being in a battle frenzy he was able to sense what was around him, with not a second to spare he jumped and narrowly avoided a rusted dagger to the back of his right knee. Eradin swifly turned around and gazed at the four remaining Goblin Warriors with eyes befitting a battle junkie and they began to falter and have cold sweat run down them.

[Skill Gained: Deathly Glare]
It's about time I finish this, and with that thought, Eradin once again assaulted the Goblin Warriors; They all tried to attack him together but there was no better way to get proficient using a weapon than in actual battle with many unknown variables and with the blessing of the Goddess of War. Although it was one versus four, Eradin was quickly becoming more adept at using his Death Gods Scythe and learning all of its advantages and disadvantages. He would send sweeping attacks to keep them dispersed and in disarray, then when any Goblin faltered, Eradin used the exceptionally long reach of the Death Gods Scythe to corner them and inflict wounds with Cursed Slash and slowly wittled them down while learning and training himself since he felt no danger to his life, perhaps it was because he had the Heart of the Evil God getting stronger as he leveled from one to three, but he was able to maintain some rationality when fighting in a contest of lives despite his blood of the War Goddess boiling to fight and igniting his fighting spirit.
[Goblin Warrior #1: Afflicted with Weaken Reflexes: 1 Increases time to do anything by 10%]
[Goblin Warrior #2: Afflicted with Damage Reduction: 1 All physical Damage is reduced by 10%]
It appeared that for roughly every successful cursed slash, even if it drew only the slightest amount of blood the chance to curse the target with a debuff was relatively low, or so Eradin thought, after the two Goblin Warriors were cursed they became next to useless and tried to run away with the support of the remaining two unaffected Goblin Warriors, but Eradin quickly disposed of three of them as they paid no heed to him and simply ran for their lives and trying to attempt to fly from what Eradin noticed.
[Souls Absorbed: 3 Soul Points: 9]
[Fused Body Equipment Exp: 2%/100%]
[Exp: Deferred until all enemies disposed of]
Quickly running towards the remaining Goblin Warrior afflicted with [Damage Reduction], Eradin slashed at it with a final Cursed Slash and ended its life.
[Souls Absorbed:1 Soul Points: 3]
{Fused Body Equipment Exp: 2.5%/100%]
[Exp: Deferred until all enemies disposed of]
Looking through all the messages, Eradin could guess what [Fused Body Equipment Exp] was, and he also knew his equipment absorbed souls. But what are Soul Points thought Eradin? Are they some special Currency I have acces to when I level up? Then he saw the last message and immediately understood its implication, in this world, or at least for him as far as he knew, exp was not granted until all monsters were defeated or combat had ended, meaning one couldn't save their life by leveling up mid-combat and regain all their Hp, mana and renewed vigor from no longer having fatigue. Eradin was immediately on guard, looking around in every possible direction while using his sensory skills to the limit, and what he found shocked him, within his perception, not visible to the naked eye, he felt rather than saw in his mind what looked like a blob of green light, and when Eradin focused on it, the light turned a dark crimson and he felt bloodlust. It wasn't a small light either, sensing the Goblin Warriors in the same way they were 4 times as small and were gray, probably because they were dead. Ever so slowly the prescense moved toward Eradin and the bloodlust only grew larger as it neared. Finally coming out into the small clearing Eradin was within, a giant figure of at the most bare minimum of nine feet tall was staring at him, and its level was thirteen. Eradin finally realized that he had no type of appraisal skill and hadn't learned any despite observing the Goblins, but were they really Goblins? He wouldn't know for sure since the goblins he knew of never had such weird aspects added to their bodies. None the less he prepared for battle against what for now he would call an ogre... maybe?

The so-called ogre, smelled absolutely putrid and looked the part as well. It had brown hair that was filled with grease and twigs with mud, an occasional bug could be spotted within it as well. Its skin was oddly colored, probably an evolution of living in a forest so there was probably the concept of subspecies based on habitat in this world. The skin was the equivalent of a camoflauge attire from Earth, with multiple shades of brown, green and gray. In its hand appeared to be some type of flail with a spiked ball attached to the end of it that looked puny compared to the size of the ogre. It had a single ring on its left hand that glowed with a ruby light and was wearing a beast skin loincloth that looked like it hadn't been washed in years.
Eradin entered his makeshift stance based on intuition from [Scythe Mastery] and [Blessing of the War Goddess] and activated [Skill: Deathly Glare] only to be met with the message, [Experience using the skill inefficient/Level difference too large]. Looking at the message Eradin sighed while he thought to himself in dismay that it looks like it will be a battle of attrition and the only available skill to use is [Skill: Cursed Slash] with its low chance of curse debuffs. Deciding to defend instead of attack and place hope on the fact it looked big and clumsy, Eradin waited for the ogre. But rather than charge him mindlessly like the Goblins did, the ogre shouted, or maybe it was a gutteral beast-like roar to be more accurate. My Blood of the War Goddess began to boil even more in preparation for the fight, the moment it ended it's roar, one last message appeared before it slowly lumbered toward me.
[Skill: Roar of a Forest Lord causes Abnormal Status Effect: Lowers your movement speed and attack speed by 15% due to significant level difference]
I could roughly attack once a second if I was chaining my attacks together but I just learned how to do that while fighting the four Goblin Warriors. And it appeared that although so far skills don't have a required mana cost, some of them have conditions before they can be used or have a cooldown timer before they could be used again or possibly both at the same time. I could gather this from the system message and the fact that I was affected with a debuff that had a duration of fifty seconds and my [Skill: Cursed Slash] had a 5 second CD timer appear every time I used it. This was probably all to make up for the fact that magic could be used with no conditions and had high versatility but costed mana and it appeared you need to chant it. My analysis is that skills and magic are limited in such a way that one isn't overwhelmingly stronger than the other and are equally needed in the world preventing conflict between users of only skills or users of only magic.
The Ogre kept lumbering slowly towards Eradin thinking he was easy prey after using it's skill that only can be used if the level difference is more than five levels. Finally it was within range of Eradins scythe range. Using [Skill: Cursed Slash] he manipulated the arc of the scythe blade that most weapons don't have and made a sweeping strike underneath the Ogres raised weapon slashing its leg. Then backing off Eradin resumed his stance. With no thought other than to kill this ogre and feed its soul to the Death Gods Scythe. Once again, the Ogre approached, albeit more cautiously, it seemed it wasn't completley stupid, and swung its flail at Eradin in an arc that wouldn't allow Eradin to use the same attack again. Noticing this, Eradin and the Ogre became interlocked in a frenzied battle, every minute it would use the same skill and apply a debuff to Eradin, and every time it faltered or used its fist instead of its flail, Eradin would cut it with a [Skill:Cursed Slash], for now the each of them appeared to only have one usable skill, but then Eradin faltered and traded instead of Eradin being the only one to apply damage he also took damage from a fist filled with brute strength to his blind spot. If Eradin didn't have [Trait: Physical Resistance] he might have been knocked unconscious. But then the Ogres ring flashed with ruby light again.
[Abnormal Status Effect Gained: A portion of your Hp has been absorbed and distributed to the enemy]
[Hp: 110/140]
It wasn't all for nothing though, during that trade was Eradin's seventh [Skill:Cursed Slash] and it finally applied a cursed debuff despite taking thirty points of damage from a casual swing of its fist because of the [Life Goddess Curse] and what I shall call a Ring of Absorbtion for now.
[Ogre: Afflicted with Attack Speed Reduction:1 Lowers Attack Speed by 10%]
The Ogre was surprised and looked at me, it probably now knew I had caused its debuff. But contrary to expectations, it might honestly be stupid despite my earlier thoughts, it flew into a rage and blindly charged me when I heard the message.
[Lord of the Forests Rage: It has locked all its hatred onto you and all of its physical stats and Hp raise by 25% raise against you and its non-physical stats lower by 25% until you are dead or escape]
Once again Eradin was in a dire situation, but because of the Heart of the Evil God, he was able to handle it without breaking out into panic. In his battle frenzied state, Eradin calmly sidestepped the Ogre and repeatedly used [Skill: Cursed Slash]. The ogre was now extremely predictable and was being afflicted with more and more wounds but didn't show any signs of stopping every time Eradin sidestepped it. Then from about the eleventh Cursed Slash and onwards, messages started appearing.
[Scythe Mastery has reached level two]
[Ogre: Afflicted with Curse Resistance Reduction: 1 Lowers Curse Resistance by 1 level (If it lowers to 0 then Curses have a much greater chance of affecting the opponent and last twice as long]
[Ogre: Afflicted with Attack Speed Reduction:2 Lower Attack Speed by 15%]
[Ogre: Afflicted with Movement Speed Reduction:1 Lowers movement Speed by 10%]
[Ogre: Afflicted with Attack Damage Reduction:1 All Physical Damage reduced by 10%]
[Ogre: Afflicted with Physical Stats Reduction:1 All Physical stats reduced by 5]
Eradin came to the conclusion calmly during the fight that the more Cursed Slashes that land successfully and the more injured the opponent was, then the higher the chance that they will have a curse debuff applied to them. This is extremely important thought Eradin, this could change my whole fighting style, but I will be in a conundrum versus someone that has very high curse resistance. But it does seems like it is very hard to level resistances, based on such a strong attack I endured with vulnerability and Physical resistance didn't increase at all.
Finally, the Ogre was all but dead, which was why Eradin had time for other thoughts, it was on the ground virtually unconcious from blood loss and all the curses upon it, with no curse resistance, based on the timers Eradin saw floating around the Ogre, they lasted for roughly two minutes which in a battle, one second meant the difference between life and death, but it also gave rise to the notion that although it won't say it on someones status, even if they aren't cursed it appears they will naturally have some sort of [Curse Resistance] and need to actually suffer multiple curses to reach level one in the resisrance, no doubt if this Ogre survived, it would reach level one in [Curse Resistance].
Eradin decided to put it out of its misery and killed it with a final strike to the neck.

Eradin chose yes and then said "Status Open" to check out his newly acquired skills and Title, because fighting opponents ten levels higher than himself didn't seem very fun or worth the risks, and if his hunch was correct he might have a way to level up slightly quicker

In a world where mages stand above nobles and even the law, it's not surprising that everyone wants to learn magic. Luz and his brothers are no different. However, their peaceful lives are shattered when a dragon attacks their village. Left with no choice, Luz uses a forbidden spatial spell to save his brothers. The consequences are not pretty--he and his brothers are scattered across different realms. Luz will have to travel to places unknown to reunite his family and gain enough power to take vengeance on the dragon. Armed with a single spell that he can only cast once before his magic reserves are depleted, Luz has his work cut out for him. Being the oldest is never easy. Author note: Please be warned as the book won't be what you might expect since the early chapters of my work are more of a slice of life of an MC, trying to adjust to his new life rather than slaying monsters left and right from the get-go with accelerated growth cheat and missions given by a goddamn system that forges your path, since everyone knows: an MC needs a system that tells one how to move forward. That was a long sentence. Also, some of you might consider my chapter titles as clickbaity, while others like me might consider them: not boring titles, hehehe.
