《The Inconvenient Life Of A Dragoness》Not a chapter. Practice concept question.

So I feel like I need to start with an apology for the indefinite and unaddressed hiatus.
I went back through what I wrote after realising I couldn't write dialogue for the life of me with how I set the story up.
Looking at what I wrote and how it read I just felt disgusting. I hate everything I make normally but what I've written comes across as crap.
Which led to the hiatus.
I went to retake my English qualification, which I failed in school, and less than a month into the course I got a job that took up all the time I had.
So in my free time I started writing out all the little snippets of ideas I had, trying to improve upon specific parts of my writing.
I went from;
Tom: So where are we going boss?
Dick: You'll see when we get there!
Harry: But we don't know where that is!
Dick: *Ugh.*
To actual dialogue where you don't need the characters spelled out to you.
I worked on environment interactions like throwing mugs at people across the room and messing with controls.
Etcetera.
So here's where I am now. I'm happy to write something mediocre that I will hate like usual. I enjoy the making but not the outcome. I always feel like everything I make is terrible. It should be an improvement.
The story will get rewritten when I feel like I have enough experience. Keeping the core elements the exact same. The only changes will be less stilted characters that seem more like people than obsessive props and the environment will be better fleshed out.
In the meantime I'm going to write a chapter of a practice story periodically and try to draw it out in the same day by day format as before. Working to improve my writing. Slice of life since it fits the format better.

The MC will be based on what I'm more familiar with. Which is Post industry rural folk who drink a ton, enjoy sports like religion, have a very earthy outlook on life and say very odd things. Probably going to chuck some welsh sayings in for flavour. To give an example of a welsh saying:
"I was wise once, I cried when I was born."
I'm going to chuck magic in for the hell of it since the culture im familiar with is very magic and legend focused.
I figured you might like to know what happened instead of being left guessing.
Sorry about all this crap.
