“I can hardly wait Jan!” Leo exclaimed in feigned excitement.

“Yeah yeah, keep you panties on.” She sighed with mock annoyance. She was in the process of signing papers and passing them to him for his signatures. After another hour or so of this they were finally set up. Lionheart Innovations up and ready for his goals on the money front. As far as he was concerned it would be easy after a few more weeks and he’d be rolling in enough money to cover his stage one part.

They now had their foundation, a new office building, business accounts, and corporate phones even. Only thing left was a few computers and then he’d let the replicators get to work as he got to begin the second part of his plan. People.

For the coming days he’d need people to support and help him. Everyone would be useful but the first was someone he could trust, even more so than Janice. That left a very short list for him to pick from but the list was there. Michael Tyler was a man of fierce loyalty, unfortunately that meant he was easily manipulated. During Leo’s first year Michael helped him in the first few days of homelessness by showing him what to do, what not to do, and so on.

He’d spent three days going from shelter to shelter in order to find his friend yet even then he’d still hadn’t been able to find him. But he hadn’t given up yet, each time he failed he passed some money around and told them to search for Michael instead.

‘He’ll turn up eventually.’ Leo thought.

“So what’s the plan now?” Janice asked him as they had a celebratory drink.

“First? I get on a computer and type up our first patent and license it out to the world. Then we make a buttload of money.” He said half-jokingly.

“Right well let’s go see the new office. Come on my driver will take us.” She said as they headed out.

Following along and riding to their new office fifteen minutes away they stopped at a large gray building. On the directory he noticed that the building was mostly vacant with lots of space for expansion. On the elevator ride up they stopped at the thirtieth floor and got out. The office was an entire corporate building floor with plenty of space. There was a corner of computer terminals, another side for lounging and another side for work, everything he needed. Walking over he sat in his new chair and stretched his arms out.

“Here’s the key, I have a copy so you know. This is the corporate card and our account information. Lastly these are your documents and shares.” She said as she dropped a bunch of things on his desk.

“Thanks Jan. Once the first invention is set up I’ll contact you to file the patents and to handle negotiations, ok?” Leo said.

“Yeah, you have thirty days.” She said to him.

Nodding his head he walked over to a computer terminal and got started of his work. After Hearing her leave he pulled out his replicators he ordered them to consume one of the computer terminals and reuse the materials to create something that was only something close to forty years more advanced that currently. After that he left the company and headed out to continue his search of his friend.

On the way to a particular shelter he was stopped by another homeless person. They told him that Michael was waiting for him at the shelter or would be around the area. Leo thanked him and handed him a few fives for his trouble as he continued on the way to the shelter.

At the shelter was a middle aged black man sitting next to a trashcan.

“Michael!” Leo yelled.

Michael looked up as if tired of people calling his name but when he saw Leo he was immediately relieved. Michael considered Leo one of the last real people on earth to be his friend. After twelve years homeless he’d taught many people how to survive American hospitality. Michael was happy for Leo seeing how he had some decent clothing, shoes, and even a watch. Though he was a little jealous of his friend’s success.

“Leo, it’s good to see you made it out of the gutter.” Michael said with a tone of distaste.

“What’s wrong Mike?” Leo asked slightly concerned.

“It’s nothing, what’s up mike? I got word you were looking for me. Out of all the people I’ve guided no one else has ever come back to look for me, but then again some have ended up dead or in jail so.” Michael explained.

“Well do you remember back then I told you what I do, what my past was, and how if we had money we’d change the world for a better place?” Leo asked.

“Of course I do, I cherish those days when you still had your gentle side, before this life of ours made us too tough. What about it?”

“I have a plan but I can’t do it alone, I’m going to need help. Specifically I’m going to need yours Michael.”

Michael looked at him and thought, ‘He’s serious.’ In the past Michael could always tell when someone was serious or not, it was a life skill he’d honed to perfection. If Leo had an ounce of doubt in him he’d know it. Staring into Leo’s eyes he saw something, something that was worth living for again.

Michael nodded his head, “What do I do?”

“So you’ll help?” Leo asked, surprised that he was agreeing so quickly.

“Yeah I’ll help but the moment you hurt more people than you help. I’m out.” Michael said quickly.

“Deal” Leo said as he extended his hand for Michael to shake.

Michael grabbed it and Leo led them away from the Shelter to an alley where Leo explained his plan, leaving out certain details such as the replicators, the gods, and wishes along with the entirety of the plan. His explanation was limited to his plans for this planet.

Michael nodded and agreed with most of the plan, the only think he didn’t care for were the riots. However he knew that it would be inevitable.

That day ended very well for Leo, as he recruited his most loyal friend, got the company started and had the plans ready. The replicators had sent him a message later that was a complete new product. The new invention was a piece needed in building the future quantum mirror, a prototype crystal processor. This entire process was twice as difficult to make, more difficult to work with, and more expensive. On the other hand it was almost ten times as powerful and five times as durable as a normal chip. The development of this would grant him access to money that could buy materials for replicators to work with and improve.

Finally the wheels were in motion.
