Writer’s spot: Greetings friends! Some ideas for a future body!
BESIDES, I’ve been planning on making the next arc tell the backstory of some characters, so I’ve been wondering whether I should make it about the twins or the driver? What do you guys think?
Beep, and enjoy your story!
----
[Can’t you be a little more worried about yourself?] Ruby asked annoyed as she saw Beepy’s nonchalantly napping around.
[And do what exactly?] He asked back. [Besides, I already have some idea of what is going to happen, so there’s no need to worry too much about it.]
[Huh? What do you mean?] She asked back, tilting her head slightly in confusion.
[Well… There are lot of stories I read about that have this kind of tournament setting.] Gaz said cheerfully. [It usually ends up in a situation where both the strongest ends up being put on opposite groups and only meet up at the finals, fighting only cannon fodder meanwhile. But since we will strike at the finals, there’s no need to get worried!] Gaz explained his infallible logic to the uneducated girl.
[And how do you know that it will go just like the story?] Ekis asked confused.
[He have no idea.] Ruby said annoyed.
A few minutes had already passed since Gaz had survived the battle-royale, and now the group was waiting patiently to Gaz’s turn to come as the class one battles slowly came to an end before the finals.
However, the group now consisted of Ruby, Yllivia and Gaz, as Lunn had left the building to try and contact Sorius, while Mirage had disappeared somewhere at the orders of the morfian. This meant that, once the one who was protecting the small girl left, some men tried to coerce her into giving them the robots, only to meet face-to-face with an angry Yllivia.
A line formed in front of the male’s bathroom during that break, and soon they stopped coming altogether again.
Yllivia also seemed to enjoy her time with simply having Beepy close to her, as she kept petting him non-stop. Not knowing what was going on inside the lynnian’s mind, Gaz became surprised once she looked around and frowned a little before gently poking Ruby.
“Hmm? What is it?” Ruby asked confused.
“Make Beepy smaller next time.” Yllivia said briefly, making both Ruby and Gaz blink surprised.
“Huh?” She made a silly sound. “Hmm… Why would you want Beepy to be smaller?” She asked confused.
“Easier to carry. Cuter too.” The lynnian said her surprisingly simple reason, but seeing the robot’s surprised reaction she quickly said. “I like the actual body. Just want a smaller one to cuddle sometimes…”
While Ruby and Gaz looked at her surprised for a moment, the morfian started giggling lightly at the request, while Gaz simply shrugged before lowering his head once again. But surprising the two, another person gave an opinion on that matter.

[That is actually a good idea!] Ekis said cheerfully, sensing the other two confusion, she quickly explained. [Well, firstly, we could get Gaz a spare body for when he is damaged, secondly, since it’s smaller, it’s also lighter, so we could use it as a prototype for your flying body!] She said cheerfully.
At her words, the two who had found the opinion mostly amusing, now stopped to think on what the goddess words actually meant.
[Should we use the actual form or make a beast hybrid?] Ruby asked.
[Hmm, I think an hybrid would be better.] Gaz said.
[Why?] The goddess asked.
[I mean, the original shape would probably be better at reaching higher speeds, but it would be pretty much useless in every other situation.] Gaz said while projecting what he knew through the link.
[True…] Ruby said after analyzing what he knew. [But how do these things actually fly? They can’t even flap wings!]
[That would be aerodynamics…] Ekis said. [It’s a bit complex, so I’ll try to explain later, but basically, moving forward also makes it move upwards through the wind.]
[So, this means that, unless it move forward, it can’t fly?] Ruby said with a frown. [And it doesn’t look like it’s very agile on earth…]
[That’s our problem.] Gaz said. But what if we used this?
As he said that, the image they shared in their links changed, and instead of the streamlined, almost arrow-shaped image, was one of a much, much larger T-shaped vehicle, with two large wings and two large rotors of monumental scales. As Ruby became shocked that a vehicle of that size could actually move, she noticed that the data still hadn’t finished.
Due to Gaz’s lack of actual knowledge on how it worked, the image lacked actual data on how it worked, but it showed as the rotors spun in an axis, slowly tilting upwards so that the airship could actually lift off.
The simple, yet complex design seemed to enchant the girls, who put up a silent surprise tone. However, Gaz didn’t stop there, and slowly he tried to change the image into one where the ship had only rotors and no wings, making it so that it could alter its movement solely on the rotors positioning.
[We could use that for low speed flight…] Ekis said with a nod.
[Hey, what about adding that first one’s motor for when you enter full-speed flight mode?] Ruby said, receiving an approval Ekis, but Gaz…
[That may not be a good idea. That thing’s fuel is downright insane.] He said with a wry smile.
[Leave that to me. I could reprogram your core to make the needed fuel, you will need to eat a lot more, though…] Ekis said quickly.
[Still, what animal are we using for the body?] Ruby asked. [The only animals I can think of that would fit would be the Skrylks, but I don’t see how we would apply these technologies to their bodies…]

[Hmm… True. We would need an animal with large wings to make up for the rotors…] Gaz said with a pensive tone.
“Ruby?” Their heated discussion was stopped when the girl that accompanied them said that. Raising their eyes to Yllivia, Ruby tilted her head confused. “You suddenly looked strange.” She said briefly.
“Oh? Sorry…” She said a bit embarrassed. “I was just thinking on what we were going to do…” She said briefly, to which Yllivia nodded before looking away.
“The first part just finished. Beepy’s turn should come soon.” She said briefly, making both the morfian and Gaz blink surprised.
“Huh? Already?” She asked surprised.
“Hmm. You were focused for quite some time.” Yllivia said briefly, making Ruby blush slightly at her blunder. The lynnian smiled gently at that, but said nothing more.
As Gaz finally got his focus back on the real world, he noticed when a small and slim troll entered the room. Similar to the ones he knew, this one was covered in fur, but it’s body was much slimmer and somewhat… Curvy? It still looked stronger than any other non-troll in the room, though.
“Where’s the contestant… Beepy?” The female troll asked.
Hearing the name, all the other people in the room started giggling at the ridiculously sounding name, making Yllivia frown slightly while Ruby held back her laughter.
However, the moment that the Blackhorse of the class two rose up, all the laughs stopped as they looked at the mysterious wolf that had completely wrecked one of the favorites in the preliminary rounds.
[Laugh at me, will you.] Gaz said annoyed. [I’m going to beat the beep out of your robots!]
…
[So… You were saying?] Ruby asked in a smug tone. [Something about… Meeting on the finals and so on?]
[Shut up, will ya?] Gaz replied furiously while Ruby and Ekis laughed at him.
“In this corner, the black horse of the pre-liminary, the unknown threat, weighing something we have no idea since we don’t keep track of that, but with the power to overpower one of the favorites of the tournament!” The female announcer said while riling up the crowd. “His name is none other than Beepy!” As soon as she said that, all the spectators burst into laughter.
“But don’t let his name fool you.” The other announcer said while shaking his head. “Somehow he managed to defeat not only the scavenger himself, but also another robot that came at him, and he was pretty much intact in the end! So this little pup may not be all bark and no bite!”
The crowd once again started cheering loudly. Cheering or booing, Gaz couldn’t be quite sure since he wasn’t focusing much on their talk.
“And, on the opposite corner, the legs of doom, he who crushes, the undefeated champion of the last two tournaments, the favorite of the crowd.” The girl said while turning to the opposite corner, where Gaz could see an evil looking Lynnian carrying a cage. “Don’t let its fragile appearance fool you! His body has yet to be harmed this time, and his weapons are all lock and loaded!”
“The one all of you have been waiting for! The blue doom bringer! Made of pure steel and no mercy! THE HUGGER!” The male announcer finished for his companion. “His legs have crushed more than dozen of robots, the modded guns have pierced the core of even more! And even then, his armor is almost piercing-proof! Truly a cheat robot that we have no idea how it got in here, but since he’s amazing, we have nothing against it!”
That was Gaz’s current situation. Not only his idea that he would only meet the favorite on the finals crumble, he was actually going to fight him on the very first round! Grumbling angrily on the link on how it shouldn’t be like that, Gaz had to endure as both Ekis and Ruby mocked him. Yet, Yllivia looked confused as he looked annoyed.
“Beep?” She said while tilting her head.
“Beep…” He replied briefly, as if saying that it was nothing.
“So, Ladies and gentlemen! Are you ready for the clash that is about to happen?” The girl asked.
“Who do you think that will win this fight? Will the unbeatable champion be the winner? Or will the Blackhorse surprise us once again?” The man said while dragging the girl out of the arena.
As he did that, Gaz couldn’t help but notice as four elves quickly took position in one corner of the room. If something, he would say that they looked like judges or something, looking intently to the arena.
But at the same time, he couldn’t help but remember what he heard before.
[Ruby, keep a look out for those judges.] He said briefly.
[Huh? Why?] She asked.
[Do you remember how some people were saying that the tournament is rigged?] Gaz asked as he stared at them.
[Oh…] She said with a nod. [I see… They weren’t there on the previous rounds, right?] She asked with a frown, and Gaz nodded.
[I’d say that in a chaotic fight like that is harder to actually rig it, so they left it alone…] Ekis said with some thought.
[Anyway, I’ll be going.] Gaz said as he heard the announcers start the countdown.
[Yeah… Good luck!] Ruby said before turning to Yllivia and telling her about Beepy’s worries.
[Thanks, but it's not like I need it!] He said smugly.
And thus, the first round started.

The Laptop Hero (Portal/Isekai LitRPG)
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] - April 2022 Silas got summoned to another world—by a group of kids attending magic school who seemed rather unhappy with the results of their ritual. After a brief glimpse of his summoners Silas woke in the town dump. Unable to speak the local language, a misunderstanding escalated and before long Silas wound up in a jail cell, the locals having confiscated all his worldly possessions aside from his laptop, which had formed some strange bond with him. Now he can summon his laptop at will, and he can view his Status, level up, and gain powerful skills and magic as if he were some character in a video game, which is great and everything, but all Silas really wants to do is sit in a dark room and play games on his laptop. Only, life isn't a game, and Silas needs to get his act together because everyone else is playing for keeps. Or does he? Maybe for Silas life is just one big game now, with everyone else stuck playing by his rules. Assorted Disclaimers, in no particular order: I am only posting this on RoyalRoad.com, so if you find my story elsewhere it was not posted by me. Please do let me know! While I do consider this a progression fantasy, and have tagged it as such, Silas's Status improvements will not necessarily proceed in a linear fashion. His RPG stats will have ups and downs, exploits and nerfs, periods of growth and stagnation. Such is the life of a gamer, to be held under the thumb of the all powerful devs, or in this case a certain goddess devoted to the idea of Balance. SIlas himself should learn and grow, improving and progressing in areas where he struggles, or rather, to show such is my goal. The story is told from multiple points of view. While other PoVs will come and go, Silas shall remain the only lead character. The world Silas finds himself on is not a nice place. Expect him to encounter gore and traumatizing content and bad people who do bad things for selfish (or possibly noble) reasons from time to time. Some characters will use profanity, however due to cultural differences the curse words used will differ from those used in our corner of reality, so I'm not including the profanity content warning. Silas himself isn't one for foul language. No explicit sexual content here. This novel is intended for mature readers, however, and will include mature topics, including, but not limited to, sex, violence, death, and taxes. No harem. Might be an eventual romantic interest, possibly even some competitive jealousy, yet as his story begins Silas is too overwhelmed with other concerns to consider long term plans. Musophobics might want to steer clear of this story. Same goes for turophobics. You have been warned. Keep in mind, however, if my other disclaimers didn't make this clear, I only have the faintest of outlines at the moment. This story will take me where it will. My goal with this story is to write it to the end, something of a long-term writing exercise, with the hope others might take an interest in my work and encourage me to keep at it. I've started a number of works before, even finished a few, but this is the first time I've shared any work in a public forum. My temporary cover was made by me, in GIMP using public domain images. If you can do better I'll happily accept your submission and give credit for your work here!

Madness Led by the Hands
‘Great, no… splendid. It was for naught.’ ‘Naught? Depends. If your desire is to send an army of killers our family’s way, yes indeed. If it’s plain survival you seek, then no.’ ‘They don’t coexist?’ ‘What… don’t tell me you’re still all groggy from the fall. Perhaps in novels, but real life is much tougher–––many more times a drag than anyone can possibly imagine. If dusty history is not a reliable teacher for you, then the pandemic surely took that place. At least that one has the advantage you needn’t be literate to savvy how reality always trumps imagination.’ ‘Whatever you say, whatever you say. So… what now?’ ‘Now? Isn’t it obvious? Now we shall survive. And live a good life.’ ‘Ohh… pretty much everything here has something against this little weird wish of ours. Might you consider?’ ‘Then pretty much everything here is a goner.’ ‘Hm, I don’t like the sound of that. Too much trouble, you see. I’d prefer laying low somewhere safe.’ ‘…nobody told you it’s mutually exclusive, no–––or did you forget about that too?’ ‘Fine, then I wish my future enemies all the best.’ ‘They are undeserving of your pity.’ ‘Of course not. That unlucky bunch won’t ever comprehend the reason behind their demise. Just let me smoke in peace and offer my condolence in advance.’ ‘Idem, let me study alchemy, unobstructed by all, if possible. This also includes you. By the way, are you sure you smoke to offer condolences? It seems like an excuse to me.’ ‘I-it is none. Plain truth, you see?’ ‘Seriously, why did I even ask...?’
