Chapter 18

Master hasn’t moved for 3 days now, he has been in the same position since he started cultivation, I think he healed most of his injuries on the first day, but he’s still cultivating..

I’m still worried but I know he’s fine, we have an interlinked bond that helps me to know that.

Fen hasn’t left his side since… not even to eat.

I had been exploring the cavern whilst waiting for Master to wake up, I had found some interesting things.

The cavern was massive, I’m still not sure how large but it even goes underground further, at the furthest point undergound I found a room that was closed off from the other rooms, it was the deepest point of the cavern and most likely held something important.

As I went into that room I found treasure upon treasure, it was the worms treasury! how long had he been collecting this?

Gems and gold lined the walls, it sparkled, the mountain of treasures were probably something feeble minded humans would kill each other over, it was probably more treasure than a king would have..

The gems were diamonds, sapphire, ruby and all the rare ones you could think of, even one of these gems could literally drive a person mad with greed.

Some of the gems were… strange too.. they were gems i’d never seen before, some were black crystals and others were dark yellow crystals, they looked amazingly pure and vibrant.

I dug around in the pile of treasure for a while, looking at the different treasures, some looked old and some were ancient, but one particular treasure caught my eye, I could sense a strange aura from it.

In the corner of the room a dusty ordinary necklace lay, from first glance it looked unassuming and junk but it had something peculiar about it, being a familiar I was more in tune with the environment, I could sense things that others couldn’t sense and I felt something strange from this necklace, it definitely wasn’t a normal necklace!

It was grey in colour and didn’t have anything fancy about it like most of the treasures in here, it looked bland but on closer inspection you could see little engraving and patterns on it, these engraving and patterns held exquisite detail and brilliance, one could see that the creator of this necklace put a lot of effort into these engravings.

I picked the necklace up from the floor and inspected it closer, it was light and was just one long piece of metal made into a necklace, but this metal was also a material I had never seen before and the stupid worm left this to collect dust, it was probably something extremely valuable.

“Ahhh” with a stretch I awoke from cultivation, how long had I been out? I had no sense of time whilst cultivating this time, it was unusual.

My body felt stronger and lighter also, I could feel the latent power that my body held, did I grow strong from cultivating this time?

This time my usual fusing of mana with my body was slightly different the mana fused a lot faster and it seemed my body couldn’t get enough, It was like the mana was attracted to my body now, it fused continuously with my body and nothing was wasted.

My wounds and broken bones were healed, but my left arm was still missing from the shoulder downwards, it felt weird feeling nothing there, it was like a part of me was missing.. wait there was..

“Woof! Woof!” out of nowhere a little black furball assaulted me with licks and woofs, it’s tail was wagging suspiciously fast and there was no mercy with the licks, Fen was overjoyed by me waking up, she was woofing happily and excitedly, she must of been extremely worried.

“Aww Fen your such a good girl” I praise her and embrace her, she whines with approval, I can’t believe how close we’ve gotten over this past month, I can’t imagine life without my new companion, now I know why everyone loves dogs!

As i’m embracing fen joyfully with my only remaining arm Exo materialises in front of me, he has a joyful look on his face,

“Ah, Master! Welcome back, Fen hasn’t left your side once, not even to eat! and look what I’ve found! you’ll want to see this!” Exo said merrily as he wandered deeper into the cavern, I stood up, stretched and followed behind him, Fen also followed along.

As we walked further into the cavern there was a room at the furthest and deepest point, I wondered why Exo brought me here?

As soon as we stepped in I knew why, it was a treasury even a king would be jealous of!

I stared at the treasure in front of us, there were all types of rare gems and gold everywhere, the worm was filthy rich.

Exo signaled for me to keep walking and we reached a deserted corner of the room, there was a dusty grey necklace lying there, Exo picked it up and handed it to me.

“Master, take a look at this necklace, I can feel something strange about it, It’s definitely not normal.”

Hmm, I took a look at the necklace that Exo gave me, at first glance it looked like an ordinary, common necklace but a closer look and you can see the detail put into this particular piece is amazing, especially those engravings, the creator put a lot of work into them.

I had it in my hand for about 10 second when the engravings began to glow, they glowed a slightly silver colour and then the necklace disappeared… without a trace…

When suddenly a monotone genderless voice spoke within my mind:

[Compatible host .. Confirmed.

Language: Adapted.

Blood type : Match.

Race type : Match.

Magic type : Adapted.

Implementing new abilities to host....]

“Aghh!”

After the voice stopped a surge of pain could be felt all over my body, it was mainly centered in the middle of my chest, however it faded away very quickly.

The necklace was definitely something extremely strange! ah! it’s probably an artifact of some kind, I must be it’s host now..

“Yes.” I said, unhesitating, curious to what it had gifted me with.

Unique Magic: Flight magic: Converts mana surrounding the Host into unique flight magic.

These abilities use internal Mana supply - ]

Holy crap.. this is…

“Exo this was an amazing find! well done!!” I said with obvious excitement in my voice.

Exo looked confused and answered back,

“But Master, the necklace disappeared..?”

“Yes, it seems to have made me it’s new ‘host’, and look” I said whilst pulling down my shirt, there implemented down my neck and onto my chest was the necklace, it seemed to have fused itself with my skin.

“...” Exo kept silent.

When Fen was asleep I went to the treasure room at the furthest part of the cavern and tried out this new magic, after all If something went wrong I wouldn’t get her involved.

I spoke the command in my mind, ‘Activate Dimension Store’ and a small window sized dimensional rift opened, It was a small window into a pure rift of blackness, it was void of anything, I grabbed a gold coin and threw it in, it disappeared but I felt an innate sense of where the item was, I thought of that Item and it appeared in my hand!

With this in mind I put all the treasure in the dimension store, this meant I could use it whenever I wanted or needed it.

This will also come in handy when switching weapons or something in the future, it might even save my life one day.

I closed the dimension store and then tried the next unique magic that was given to me, the ‘host’ of this strange artifact.

I thought of wanting to fly and then it happened, it was a fairly cliche activation but it worked.

I directed where I wanted to go with my mind and instantly I started to fly in that direction, it was amazing, I felt like a world of possibilities had just opened, I was free, flying around like a bird in this small room.

“Haha!” I shouted out, excited and having fun, this is what we’re missing out on! Flying!

This was amazing! Exo had discovered an absolute treasure! Flying was usually reserved for middle class S rank combatants, after all, to get into the S rank was a lot harder than breaking through the rank of B to A, it was a massive milestone that most will never reach, and the S rank combatants were split into 3 different levels of power, Low, medium and high, the low rank S rank practitioners were like C ranks to A ranks, very easy to beat, and the high rank S ranks were even more powerful!

This artifact was extremely valuable, one couldn't imagine how valuable it was, if any higher rank practitioners knew I had this they’d probably kill me for it instantly.

This cavern didn’t have a purpose anymore so I went to wake Fen up and we left, I’d decided to go west to the Dragon Empire, it was quite a far journey but I didn’t have to worry about the demons spotting me neither because I’d be flying there.

The Dragon Empire in the west was an Empire led by the Dragon Emperor, he was the sole leader and head of the decisions that happened within his Empire, his word was law within his territory, the different royal families within the Dragon Empire swore complete obedience to the Dragon Emperor.

The Dragon’s was one of the richest and most powerful of Races, the race was proud and arrogant, they looked down on the other races and hailed themselves as superior.

The Dragon Empire had 9 main cities and the Capital City which was where the emperor resided, they displayed the arrogance of the Dragons in all of it’s glory, the buildings were massive and the palaces of the kings of the cities were filled with pride and arrogance, massive pillars and throne rooms which were made out of pure gold, after all the Dragon race had a love for wealth.

I had decided to visit the Dragon City of Kuregg, this was overseen by the King of Kuregg and his esteemed family, it was the Dragon city known for it’s weapons, the weapons forged by Kuregg’s blacksmiths were hailed as some of the finest in the continent.

Leaving the Milan Wilderness wasn’t as tricky as getting there, With my new flight ability I could easily leave, I flew at a speed which would probably match a wind bat, a bat that uses wind magic to fly fast, I went above the clouds to stop the beasts on the ground from seeing me, I’d estimated I’d reach the City of Kuregg in around 8 days of constant flying.
