Chapter 16
Fen didn’t sleep for long, it was a couple hours in which he slept, I spent that time cultivating, when I came out of cultivation Fen stretched and woofed happily at me, I still didn’t know if it was a boy or a girl so I checked by lifting it up and looking underneath, well.. Fen seemed to have no gentials… maybe it’s a girl? I’ll refer to Fen as a ‘her’ until I can be sure.
Fen wagged her tail again and seemed to want to go out to hunt again, this pup was a glutton!
We went out to hunt magical beasts, she sat in my bag with her head poking out, woofing happily with her tongue flapping around when we started running at speed, she acted just like a dog!
As we entered an area of cliffs I spotted a magical beast, It was a B rank giant horn bull which I had so much trouble with when I arrived, I picked up my speed and went for an attack straight away, it spotted me coming and instantly went into fighting mode, with a loud moo it charged head on.
The Bull wasn’t as fast as I remembered, I knew i’d gotten much stronger since i’d fought one last time and this time I had plentiful fighting experience.
With a well timed maneuver I shot to the side of it’s head into it’s blindspot, it tried to flick it’s horns at me but It was too late, with a mighty slash of my sword that seemed to appear in my hand I cleaved it’s head off, the sword went straight through it’s tendons, muscle and thick hide, with my increased strength it didn’t stand a chance.
Fen didn’t seem to move out of my bag as I fought with the bull, she yawned like it was boring and then hopped out of my bag and then looked up at me for approval to see if she could eat it, I nodded.
I let her eat the kill because we’d be hunting a lot more today, in a few moments all that was left was a little bit of blue blood that was left over from me wounding the beast initially.
She didn’t seem to be even slightly satisfied.. When Fen finished eating she jumped back into my bag, this glutton pup might cost me a fortune if we lived in the city, food isn’t cheap there.

We carried on hunting all day, Fen didn’t even bother to attack anything, we hunted B rank beasts all day, she devoured every single one of them, this time I didn’t even make a single coin in profits, this pup was costing me money!
<><><><><><><><><>
The next day we were hunting again and Fen was devouring everything we killed….
I wasn’t that angry though because I always said she could, after all she was now my responsibility.
We went further into the Milan Wilderness this time, it was the furthest I’d gone so far, past the mountain and past the lakes we ended up at a baron and steep rocky area, it was like a sloped hill with lots of boulders and streams flowing through the rocks down the hills.
I climbed the hill and once I stood on the top of it there were dense trees a few meters in front, it was like we entered another level of the wilderness, I cautiously entered the tree line.
When I entered the tree line the hairs on the back of my neck stood up and then a blur shot at my feet, I instantly dodged and jumped up a tree, luckily I had trusted my instincts, it was a magical beast attack!
I looked down and saw a magical beast I recognised, it was brought up in one of my classes as a formidable reptile type magic beast of the A rank, a shadow lizard!
They were experts in stealth and had very sharp claws and a poisonous stinger on it’s tail used to paralyse it’s opponents instantly.
The lizard looked up at me in the tree and hissed, I jumped out of the tree and landed right in front of it, out of range from it’s tail just in case.
I was just about to attack the formidable beast who I wasn’t sure I could match when Fen suddenly jumped out of my bag and landed in front of me.
Fen stared at the shadow lizard with her deep yellow eyes and then she looked at me and wagged her tail, straight after she faced back towards the lizard.
The lizard was confused at the appearance of a new enemy and hissed with it’s snake like tongue.
The two looked at each other in the eyes and then Fen strolled forward casually.. did I see her lick her lips….?

Confused by it’s enemies actions the shadow lizard attacked, it’s tail stabbed towards Fen faster than lightning, Fen didn’t bother to dodge and simply, or should I say casually, side stepped and then just as the stinger was about to hit she bit into the lizards tail.
“Fen!” I shouted, worried. she had bitten into the tail of the shadow lizard, this was incredibly risky!
My worries were for naught though as Fen literally bit the lizards whole tail off and devoured it!
This damn pup!
Fen then looked at the lizard with eyes of hunger and whined happily after she had eaten the tail, I swear I could almost hear her saying “Mmm tasty!”
The shadow Lizard stood frozen, it didn’t even have chance to register what happened when Fen appeared in front of the lizard and with the next minute the lizards head was in Fen’s mouth, as casually as eating something already prepared Fen bit down, a disgusting sounds of skin and bone being crushed rang out throughout the area, it was brutal!
Fen shook her head and dislodged the head from the lizards body, she proceeded to devour the lizard whilst wagging her tail happily!
What the hell! this little pup just obliterated an A rank magical beast of the same size!
Scary!
After she had finished her.. fresh meal she licked her lips and jumped back into the bag where she rode.
As I was in shock from witnessing the cute little Fen be so merciless and cruel a voice rang out in my mind,
[Master, Fen is incredibly strong! she’s only a little wolf pup and already this powerful!] Exo said, I could hint excitement in his voice, he must of liked Fen, ah that reminds me I need to introduce the two of them!
With this in mind I headed back to our hideout.
<><><><><><><><><>
We arrived shortly after, I sat Fen down on the rock table and then spoke to her,
“Fen, I’m going to introduce you to my familiar, his name is Exo, be nice, he’s your family from now on.”
When I said this she started wagging her tail and whined with excitement, she must understand me slightly.
Not a second later a figure materialised beside me, it was a little boy with raven coloured shoulder length hair wearing black garments.
Exo walked up to Fen and started stroking her head, Fen seemed to like this and wagged her tail even more.
“Hello Fen, I’m Exo, Master’s familiar and your senior! hehehe so cute” Exo said as he stroked Fen with a surprising grin on his face, This was new! I’d never seen him act like this, maybe he liked cute things!
I coughed, reminding Exo I was still watching him, startled and embarrassed he stopped stroking,
“A-Ah, sorry Master I got carried away.. Forgive me!” he said in an embarrassed tone.
Fen seemed to like it anyhow, she must of knew he was a friend because she acted friendly towards Exo, they continued to play for a while, they were both like children, I suppose they were actually…
I was smiling at this scene in front of me, I watched as Exo and Fen played with each other, Exo even transformed into a wolf pup as well and they wrestled around on the floor, they took a natural liking towards each other, it was like watching two best friends play.
After a couple hours of playing they both seemed to stop and then Exo transformed his human form again, he turned to me in a respectful manner.
“Me and Fen have made friends, do you mind If I stay materialised.. for a while?” Exo said, slightly embarrassed by the new friendship he’d formed, he wanted to stay materialised, why would I stop him? It didn’t harm me or do anything in the slightest,
“Of course, you don’t need to ask to materialise, only if we’re in front of other people is when you have to ask my permission, when in private you can stay materialised for as long as you want” I replied with a smile, it was great that they made friends.
Exo smiled and said “Yes!” Excitedly, he seems to of developed more of a personality as time went on, this was a good thing.
The two of them were bonding, Fen seemed to like Exo too, it was great to watch friendship bloom like this.

Sara's (not really) Fabulous System Armageddon, Book I: The World Ended at Rush Hour
Planet Earth, Monday, October 7th, 2019. 18:30 * * On a fateful day, during rush hour in eastern North America, Heavens and Hell crumbled and fell from their higher dimension on Earth. It came from "above" but not the same above we regard in our tridimensional Euclidean reasoning. No, it came from "above" as in from a higher dimension. Bits and pieces of those places fell on Earth from all directions, this time in tridimensional Euclidean space. Satellites, the ISS, and space debris all were wiped clean from orbit. Even those that didn't crash with the falling debris were knocked off orbit by the shockwaves. On the ground, power distribution lines were disrupted and most power facilities were left abandoned by their dead staff. Most of these had emergency shutdown routines that engaged in a few days. Some others had a survivor among their staff that followed protocol and activated their SCRAM switches, stopping the power plant. Long-distance communication disappeared the internet along with it. The world was plunged into technological darkness. Nine hundred and ninety-nine out of every thousand human beings perished immediately in the pulse of magical energy from the torn spatial boundary. Spirits were rent asunder and vanished, their fate neither salvation nor damnation, only oblivion. The criteria used for this culling was latent magic potential. It didn't discriminate against education, gender, age, or ethnic group. But of the around seven million survivors, most would meet their doom moments later. Those on moving vehicles, like the ones driving on highways suddenly had to contend with high-speed uncontrolled cars and trucks driven by corpses. Trapped in their vehicles and helpless, they became part of the long snake of crushed metal. Very few survived. Those in the air or out in the sea were alone and probably unable to control their rides. Airplanes crashed, and ships kept their course or drifted away, depending on their autopilot. Several ended their own lives in utter despair after seeing their loved ones die in front of them. Another large group would die at the hands of other survivors. Violence and aggression became the norm. Only a few sparse pockets of not-so-sane survivors managed to band together and cooperate for the sake of mutual survival. The sole survivor in a five-over-one apartment building in Georgia, a girl became the keystone to humanity's survival. Sara's fabulous System Apocalypse had just started. She has only one remark. It was anything but fabulous. * * Updates every Wednesday and Sunday.
