《World Labyrinth》Chapter 3: Lunch on the Run

Richard stared at the colossal monster, creature, beast, kaiju… whatever it was in horror. The majority of his brain was gibbering incoherently, but a small part of it was trying to figure out if being eaten by some kind of uber monster was worse than going splat on the ground. So far, his only answer had been to drool from his mouth, which was hanging open in shock.
It wasn’t until he felt his floating body being pulled that he finally snapped out of his trance. Richard looked around frantically, trying to figure out what was happening. There wasn’t anything attached to him, but he realized he was being pulled towards the monster. He looked back up at the creature, which was calmly staring at him while exhaling gusts of air out of its huge nostrils.
Once again, Richard wasn’t a genius, but even he realized that his floating around and the creature were somehow connected. How they were connected was another question, and one he really didn’t care about at this point. Instead, the fact he was being drawn directly towards the monster’s head and its huge, open jaws was the main problem.
“Shit! ARRRAAHHHH! What the hell!” Flailing around, he even tried to turn around midair to run away, but by this time, he couldn’t even move properly. Finally, looking at the monster in desperation, he shouted, “Mr. Monster, I don’t taste too good. I’ll give you severe indigestion… you know the shits… or rocks or whatever you poop! Also, I’m skin and bones! Seee!” Pinching his gaunt cheeks, he tried to give the monster a fake smile. However, the monster just opened its jaws wider, revealing a rough looking tongue and teeth that would make a dentist faint. “Oh, come on! Really! You’re gonna eat me! Seriously? You oversized turtle!” Yelling at the monster didn’t do anything either.

His shoulders drooping in resignation, Richard cursed at the creature. “I hope I give you a belly ache, you stupid piece of…!” Before he could finish, there was an explosion somewhere off to the far left. He turned quickly, reacting almost automatically. In the distance, he saw something else rising out of the ground in a cloud of dirt.
It was another monster, but unlike the turtle thing, the new creature had no legs. Instead, it looked like the sandworms from the movie Dune. The beast pushed out of the ground, bending its snake like body so it was facing towards Richard and the turtle monster. After a second of silence, the worm monster opened the four flaps that covered its mouth, revealing its serrated teeth and screeching horrendously.
CRISHSSSHSHHHAAAAAHAAHAH!
Richard covered his pain filled ears as the as the air around him trembled. Before he could think straight, he felt himself falling, and it wasn’t a slow fall either. Flailing around, he landed butt first on the sandy ground less than a dozen meters away from the huge turtle monster. He laid there stunned for a bit, as his body spasmed in pain, but slowly pulling himself up, he tried to get a grip on himself. Richard guessed he had at least fallen eight or so meters, and it was a miracle that he didn’t have pieces of his bones sticking out of his body. As shocking as that was, he didn’t even have time to think about it.
The ground around him shook violently as the the turtle monster began maneuvering to face its new foe. Richard stared at the colossal creature as it twisted its stone encased body around, and he knew that sticking around was going to be a bad idea. Getting to his feet was a chore, but he was glad he could still move after all the insanity. For the moment, he focused on getting away from the two monsters and the bloodletting that was going to take place.

He hobbled as fast as he could, ignoring the jolts of pain rippling through him. Every few seconds, the air and ground trembled as roars and smashing sounds echoed from behind him. He tried not to look back, too scared to care what the stupid monsters were doing to each other, but the handful of times that he took a peek, he saw things that belonged only in movies like Godzilla. Having a front row seat to a monster battle might have sounded impressive, but Richard had no desire to become Crushed Bystander #1.
Where he was going was a big concern, but for the moment, he aimed for a massive rock formation in the distance. It looked like it extended a few miles both to his right and left and was the only other major landmark in the dry landscape around him. There were a few other medium sized rock formations, but after having been duped by the stupid turtle monster, Richard didn’t feel like taking a chance.
Getting quickly exhausted in the heat, he kept walking even when his eyes began getting blurry. Sweat poured down his face, and his mouth soon became so dry that he could barely say anything. The battle between the monsters eventually died down, but when he looked back, he couldn’t tell who had won. The giant rock formation that served as the turtle monster’s shell was still there, and Richard also saw the snake like body of the worm monster. However, with the cloud of dust surrounding the bodies, he couldn’t tell who had won. Mind you, he didn’t care one bit.
Looking up at the sun in the sky, he guessed it was mid afternoon, but he wasn’t sure considering this was supposed to be a completely different world. That’s when it really hit him: he was on some other world… one with building sized monsters that wanted to eat him. Until now, he had been operating on autopilot and basically running for his life. However, now that he could think again, he realized how screwed he was.
He was in the middle of a desert like place with no water, no food, and no shelter. “I’m [email protected]#&%d!” Richard collapsed to his knees and stared at the dirt ground. He stayed that way for a while before he started giggling. “Hehehehehehehe…” Then, the giggles turned to laughter. “HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAH!” Then, the laughter turned to a scream. “ARRRHHHHHHHHHHHGGHGHHHH!”
Finally, he fell face down on the ground, too exhausted to care anymore.
