《Beast Knight》Bonus: Author's Corner (Updated April 21st)

***LATEST UPDATE***
Well, we've reached Chapter 10 and now averaging over 1000 views per chapter. That sounds like as good a milestone as any. I love reading your comments and speculations. If you're talking about the story and guessing at what might happen next, that means you enjoy it enough to begin imagining such things. Even the guesses that are way off the mark. That means I'm not being too predictable, which in turn means I'm doing my job properly. If you knew exactly what was going to happen next, it'd be boring, right?
Here's a sketch of Fen in his new uniform. Yeah, I'm not that great of an illustrator, and it's pencil art. But I'm too cheap to buy Photoshop so this is probably the best you'll get out of me.

---------------------------
Hey, everyone! It seems Chapter 5 reached a new personal record for me. Over 200 views within 3 hours of posting! It may not sound all that impressive compared to the more established and popular fictions here on RoyalRoadL.com. But Chapter 1 took 2 whole days to reach that number! The overall rating is also at an all time high of 4.83! (It's only 3 actual reviews, but I'll take it, dammit! lol)
Edit: (April 17th, 2015) Well, well. That record didn't last long. Chapter 6 broke 200 within just one hour. Holy crap. In other news, the rating has climbed to 4.9. Do you people really like the story that much or are you just inflating my ego for the lulz? :P
To celebrate, I'm opening this Author's Corner thread for bonus content. Whenever "Beast Knight" hits a milestone (or when I just get excited on my own, like this time lol) I'll be updating this first post with the aforementioned extra content.

I'll start off with a set of more in-depth character descriptions for each of the 3 important characters introduced so far.
---------------
Fen (no last name)
Age: 10 (-ish?)
Race: Wulvari
Gender: Male
Likes: Reading, Food
Dislikes: Authority... actually, he just really hates Roland
Magic Affinity: [none]
Bio: Dumped in the human capital somehow around the age of four, Fen spent his whole life so far in the streets. This hard life scraping by on the edge of society has been quickly eating away at any and all childish innocence he otherwise would have had. He uses the incredible strength and speed typical of his race to run circles around the city guard and essentially do as he pleases. He's often snarky and sarcastic, even in his own thoughts, and has little to no respect for authority. He learned to read mostly on his own by the age of six and likes to spend his time dumpster diving behind the academy for more books. His love for reading has elevated his vocabulary beyond most kids his age, taking his intellect along for the ride. Unfortunately for Roland, Fen often uses this higher IQ and extended vocabulary to make fun of him.
Milena Firth
Age: 10
Race: Human
Gender: Female
Likes: Fluffy things, her father Roland
Dislikes: Lizards
Magic Affinity: Ice
Bio: Milena grew up without a care in the world thanks to the loving support of her father, Roland Firth. She looks up to him and takes his word as law without question. A daddy's girl, through and through. She worries about him though and as she's grown, she's begun to notice the cracks in the picture of a perfect father that Roland is trying to be.
Roland Firth
Age: 31
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Likes: Milena, Order
Dislikes: Wulvari, especially Fen

Magic Affinity: Fire
Bio: Roland's family has produced members of the royal guard many times through multiple generations, many of them receiving the honor of becoming Captain of the Royal Guard. He normally is neat, tidy and orderly and takes his job very seriously, doing everything by the book. But for some reason every time he sees Fen, all of this just goes straight out the window. He is extremely protective of his daughter, Milena; almost irrationally so. He would sacrifice his job as Captain of the Royal Guard and even his status as a noble if he believed it would be in Milena's best interest.
The royal guard normally only guard the king and the vicinity around the castle and leave the public order to the city guard. But for some reason Roland has decided to butt in when it comes to Fen. Is there a special reason for that?

Feel free to make comments and speculations with other readers here in this thread. You can also ask me questions, but I won't be giving away any spoilers. Just about anything else is fair game.

Overwrite
In a future where people still work 9-5 jobs and students wrangle with their unpayable debts, virtual reality has become an everyday activity. Ryu, a typical teenage boy with not-so unique interests, is unnaturally average, and, unfortunately for him, this extends to the virtual world. However, where some would say “work harder,” Ryu says “work less,” and so he cheats. Or at least he tries.

Cycles of Ruin
Civilizations rise and fall. Kith build them up and monsters, led by powerful dungeon keepers, bring them to ruin. For three thousand years the cycle has been maintained by the Guild of Chaos and its endless hordes of minions who—in absence of their long lost creators—have taken it upon themselves to keep the realms of the universe in balance. The Guild has grown efficient at this task, but some among its ranks have begun to ponder the utility of a universe that has been robbed of the very possibility of change. Basil von Doom is one such dungeon keeper working for the Guild, leading an army of loyal minions from one conquest to the next; burning civilizations and sifting through the ruins in search of forbidden knowledge that the races of kith were never meant to possess. But having spent more than half a century in pursuit of glory and fame—trying to live up to the legacy of his father—Basil has grown indifferent towards his work. Desperate for a worthy challenge, but bound by his duties as a dungeon keeper, he has turned his mind towards uncovering the ultimate fate of the previous master of his house and the secrets that were buried with him. Now the young Master of House Doom must balance his growing interest in pursuing the trail of his father with the responsibilities that come with running a dungeon in service to the Guild of Chaos. To remain in good standing with the Guild, Basil has even accepted the task of mentoring an apprentice dungeon keeper, a young succubus named Elnora. It is at the tail end of her apprenticeship that the story begins; with a civilization poised to fall—its greatest heroes gathering for one last assault on the heart of darkness—and Basil striking up a conversation with his apprentice that will set into motion the unraveling of the universe. ***This is a rewrite and continuation of my story that was first posted on RoyalRoad a few years ago.

Chains
Eric Bane is one tough thug, but even he's not immortal. After a deadly ambush, he falls unconscious only to awaken in a castle preparing to meet a king. He was apparently summoned to a parallel world of fantasy to act as a hero who wields one of six Divine Weapons. However, being unfamiliar with video games, he doesn't see the new world the same way the other five do. After being framed for rape, Eric ends up hobbling out of the city with no money, no party, and draining motivation. However, if there's one thing that Samson is good at, it's spite. If the world is going to kick him to the curb, then he's going to beat the shit out of the next person he sees to get back on track. As Eric grows stronger through a natural progression, he slowly discovers the hidden history of the world and the dark secrets of the Church of the Trinity. And while some might wait for the right moment to strike, Samson isn't one for patience. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This is a story that I've already gotten pretty far with, but I want to release it slowly over a few days to see what the critics say. I haven't finished it, but I've got a general idea where I want to go with it. Maturity for violence, sexual themes, and slavery. No outright sex or nudity, and there is no cruelty exhibited towards slaves. Tell me how you like it.
