Chapter 4: This is Justice
There were many things that a man might call beautiful. He might call his mother's face beautiful. The way the light plays atop the ocean at sunset might be considered by such a term as well. The first thing that Scott saw once his sight was restored to him was not beautiful. There was only one word to describe the impossible glory that stood before him. That word was Cerene.
Scott had never been one to blush and stammer. Few people had ever spent much time with him, and most of those worthy individuals had only done so out of a sense of duty or a desire to coax something out of him. It had hardened him to the sight of such things as a mere pretty face. However, there was no face like Cerene's.
"Why do you keep staring at me like that...?" she asked him, a hint of concern in her eyes.
He coughed once then looked, rather tore, his eyes from her. During the fight with the forest asshole, he had not had a chance to see Cerene in all her glory. It was dark and the battle was dire. Afterward he had been rendered blind. Even after the honey wasp queen had performed her overly affectionate healing action, he had only seen shadows and vague shapes.
"Is something wrong?" she asked earnestly, before leaning over to put herself back in his line of sight.
Scott turned away again with another cough. "Nothing!"
A soft pout rose upon her impossibly sweet lips. "You can't even look at me..."
He groaned a little. Didn't she understand?
"I know I'm a plan looking girl, but I had hoped..."
Shocked to the core, his head snapped up and his eyes went wide. It took a moment to exclaim what his mind had wished to express. "Plain?!" He gazed upon her glorious visage with all the courage that he possessed within himself. "You're impossible. No one is as perfect as you." He searched for the right words, but could not find them. "It's like looking at the freaking sun." He flailed his hands in the air a little. "I'll go blind again."
Cerene blinked once, slowly. Though her eyes gazed into his, they did not see him. Instead they took on slight glaze as though she were looking at an object that was far away. Her heart shaped face suddenly became quite flush and then blossomed into the most disturbingly deep shade of fire engine red. It was an impossible color for a face, and yet, it was her current existence.
"Uh... Cerene?" Scott reached out and lightly poked her. In response she made a slight giggling sound then said, "Ok, mom. I'll buy a dozen eggs on the way home."
Scott's left eyelid twitched. What the hell was she talking about?
Her eyelids began to wiggle a little then went still as a sort of tingle flowed down her to first her nose and then to her lips. Softly, her sweet pink lips quivered for a moment while she nodded her head and made strange little confused noises.
"I... Are you alright?" For a moment he was concerned that he had broken her.
It took a moment, but she managed to get ahold of herself long enough to blink twice. A low, soft whisper escaped her lips. "Yes..."

After that there passed a lengthy awkward moment where neither of them could look each other in the eye. Cerene turned and sat on his hospital bed next to him a moment later, but they continued to neither speak nor look at each other.
Scott eventually glanced her way. She froze up a little, made a nervous expression and a cute noise, and then quickly turned her head. In response he looked straight forward briefly then to the opposite site.
Soon it was Cerene's turn to glance toward him. He caught her look then quickly darted his gaze upward toward the ceiling instinctually. Slowly, he rotated his field of vision to the left, away from her position.
The angel made a small sigh then placed her hands in her lap. She fidgeted a little and picked at the free hospital gown that they had given her. "A heh... Heh..." was all she managed to say.
Scott laughed a little too. He could not believe how he was acting. He was not a teenager. Certainly he had lacked much in-depth interaction with the fairer sex outside of the occasional bored girl who had gotten drunk at a bar, but he was able to handle himself better than this. He was certain of it!
Certain that he could handle the situation, Scott became bold. He turned to look directly at Cerene. She turned toward him, her face lightly flush and filled with an expression of absolute innocence. Scott's words died in his throat and he looked straight ahead once more. He was powerless before her heavenly visage.
"I..." began Cerene. Scott quickly mumbled. "Uh, yeah..." They each looked off to the side in different directions immediately afterward. It seemed that the situation might require a little more time to properly develop.
If Scott had actually been a teenager, the situation truly might have gone on for a much lengthier period of time. However, he had been a soldier. He had also actually had something he called sex. Sure, it had been short and the girls had cried afterward, all of them, but he still had experience. He would not let this continue.
Uncertain what else to do, he slipped his hand over then clasped hers. The sudden movement caught her by surprise and she gasped a little. Her chest heaved softly for a moment then she looked down at his hand resting lightly atop hers.
Suddenly, she felt silly. It was like all of her nervousness had flowed away like leaf on the river. Quietly, she asked. "Did – Did you really mean it?"
"Yeah..." he said simply.
Her face reddened slightly once more but she continued to look down at his hand atop hers. A gentle smile crossed her lips. She started to say something, words that she barely understood, but she was interrupted by the sudden arrival of two surprising individuals.
"Citizen. By order of the Olde town council, you are hereby under arrest." said a pink haired woman wearing heavy body armor. Her right hand rested on the grip of a massive pistol right her left hand held up a sheet of paper.
"Arrest?!" asked Scott, surprised. The nursing staff just outside had been pleasant and professional to him over the course of the last two days as a goddess class demon had healed his wounds. However, they now wore icy expressions and the youngest nurse looked visibly ill.
"What are you talking about! What crime has my master committed?" asked Cerene as she stood up from the bed.
The pink haired girl's partner, a blue haired woman in matching blue armor, spoke up. "He is wanted on suspicion of attempted murder, unlawful interference in a legal capture of a stray demon by a license tamer, and unlicensed bonding with a demon."

"But!" began Cerene.
"If you have anything to say in your defense, you may make a statement at the station." said the pink haired girl to Scott while she ignored Cerene entirely.
"I don't get any of this! I found some guy attacking her in the woods and you're arresting me?" shouted Scott in surprise at the allegations.
"Are you going to come quietly citizen?" asked the blue haired officer.
"You should arrest that other asshole!" snapped Scott.
"They never come quietly, do they?" asked the pink haired girl.
The blue haired girl sighed then shook her head. Faster than either of them could move, the new arrivals whipped out their heavy pistols and fired on Scott and Cerene. A powerful blast of raw magical energy overwhelmed their systems and they fell to the ground.
"Better add resisting arrest, I suppose." said the pink haired girl before she took out a set of handcuffs.
The blue haired officer had her hand to the earpiece that she wore. "Already on it."
--
The world returned to Scott in a series of strange sights and even stranger sounds. He awoke to four stone walls and a strange red light where a door should be. Across from him there was a similar room where he could see Cerene sitting in the middle of the floor with her legs crossed and her chin in her hands.
"So what? Interference with a lawful capture, assault on a human, damage of private property, and resisting arrest?" asked a vaguely familiar voice.
"So far, we'll let the psychic figure it out." remarked the blue haired officer. She then thought better of it. "I believe it was attempted murder, and not simple assault, though."
Scott did not like the sound of any of this. He liked it even less when the one who had shot him turned to him and said, "You're going to have to wait in this cell till the judge on duty arrives. If you stay quiet, I won't restrain you."
"He didn't do anything but help me!" cried Cerene after she head that.
"Yeah, well, that's a crime you know." remarked the pink haired officer before she gestured for a third officer, a blond, to do something that he could not see at their desk. Scott noticed that all three of them had a fairly similar appearance. Only their hair really differentiated them. Instinctively, he began to classify them by their hair color.
The man balked at such treatment. He had stopped a woodland rapist, but he was the criminal? "You can't be serious about this!"
"Are you resisting arrest citizen?" asked the Officer Blue, the blue haired officer. She enjoyed it when they resisted. This was especially true of a human. Beating down human scum bags was one of the only real perks of the job after all.
"Why am I being arrested? She was being attacked by some asshole that wanted to rape her. From what she told me, tamers are only supposed to capture stray demons! She has a home, family in this town! How would she count as stray?" snapped Scott angrily.
Officer Blue shrugged. "Hey, it's not my call. Are you going to quiet down, or not? We'll sort all this out when the judge gets here."
Scott was about to spit out another hate fueled sentiment when the worst possible thing that could happen, did happen. The asshole he had fought in the woods strolled into view. He had been waiting in a different room, but the conversation had caught his attention. The local police could say what they wanted. The fact that the douchebag was walking around free, while he was the one in jail said a lot about their system of justice.
"Is this him?" Henry asked lightly.
The blue haired officer examined him carefully with her eyes. "Sir, you don't recognize him? How can you bring charges against him without being certain?"
Henry blinked slowly then suddenly a hard look crossed his features. "My memory is a bit fuzzy and it was dark. All I remember is battling a stray angel in the woods and then, I woke up in the hospital. I was on death's door, but luckily my trusty witch teleported me to safety before this ruffian could finish his villainy."
"We are awaiting a psychic judge to oversee interrogation procedures, sir. She should arrive shortly." stated Officer Blue in a non-committal tone after hearing his story. Scott noted that she seemed to pay extra attention to the other man now, as though she were attempting to discern the truth of his story.
"Can't I just take my girl and go?" asked Henry with a confused smile. "I do have places to be, you know."
"Take your girl and go?" snarled Scott. He ran toward the front of the cell, but was stopped by the red field of energy. It did not harm him in any way, but it did completely stall his motions.
"Step back toward the center of your cell!" snapped the pink haired officer.
Scott tried to move forward instead, but his movements slowed even further. The field seemed to retard his motions altogether.
Officer Pink walked over to the cell then grabbed Scott by the shoulders and threw him forcibly backward. "Look, citizen, you've wasted enough of our time. Stay quiet and sit in your cell before we add attempted escape to your list of charges."
"So, you are just going to take his side, despite obvious evidence that she is not stray? Have you even reported this to her family?”
“You were warned, citizen.” Officer Pink gestured to Officer Blondie. The blond officer tapped something at her desk.
Scott suddenly felt a bizarre sensation come over him. For a moment he felt confused and then began to stagger around drunkenly. Finally, he fell face first to the ground and drooled like an idiot.
"Do you see what sort of person he is?" asked Henry with a loud sigh. "To think such an uncouth creature shares the same air that we breathe.
“How can this be justice?" muttered Scott a few minutes later as whatever they had done to him began to wear off. He managed to make it back to his feet after another few minutes. However, he was still thoroughly disoriented. He tripped over the hard sleeping mat in the center of the cell and fell once more with a loud outcry at the pain.
His outcry caused Cerene to call out, "Hey! You'll hurt him!"
"Worry about yourself." commented Officer Blue.
"What? Hey!" exclaimed the girl. A lifetime in Olde ingrained obedience to the local law into her, but this was ridiculous.
Of course, even if she had chosen to resist there was little that she could do in a police station filled with high-level Officers. The police were specially trained evolutions of one of the most common types of demon, the Tomboy.
They all uniformly loved to get down and dirty, and lived for a good fight. This was especially true if they got the chance to fight with a man.
An hour passed before the judge came. The officers greeted the slightly older woman in a friendly manner and then moved back to let her work. Henry was easiest to access so she began with him.
She pronounced judgment after only two minutes of scanning his memories and surface thoughts. "His name is Henry. He was attempting to capture a stray demon in the Ancient Forest area. He was attacked by an unseen assailant."
"Right! How certain are you?" asked Officer Blue.
"My skills are not in doubt. It is as I have stated." replied the psychic judge.
"Ok, then. We have that much straightened out." said Officer Pink before pressing a series of buttons at the console she was stationed. The angel gasped aloud as a blue light flared inside her cell. Not long after the door unlocked itself and the pink haired Officer moved inside. When she walked out she led a glassy eyed Cerene out with a glowing chain that was attached to her ring.
"Here you go, sir. She's all yours." remarked the law enforcement demon as she placed the chain binding the angelic girl into Henry's hand.
"Heh, thanks." muttered the man as he tugged on the chain experimentally. He did not sound particularly grateful about receiving the girl, despite the alternatives that might have happened.
"What just happened?" asked Scott from his cell. "Hey! What did you just fucking do!" yelled Scott from his cell.
"My job, citizen." remarked Officer Pink.
“The hell you did! She has a family!” shouted Scott.
“Is this true?” asked the psychic.
“How would I know?” asked Henry.
One of the officers spoke up. “The man in the cell says that she claimed to have family here.”
“I see. I will need to check the girl then.” stated the judge. "Why did not one mention this prior?"
The officer's shrugged. "We only operate based on official reports. The tamer did not cite that information, and the suspect was belligerent the entire time. We found no reason to believe his statements since he could not even be bothered to adhere to simple instructions."
"Ah, understandable." said the judge before she turned toward Cerene.
“Hey! She’s my property...” said Henry.
The psychic quirked her eyebrow upward then she turned toward him once more. “Are you attempting to circumvent a proper investigation?”
He glared at the woman briefly, but released Cerene's chain. The judge lifted her hand and clasped the chain for a moment. She then moved to look into the eyes of the bound angel. A few minutes passed then then psychic sighed. “It is true that she has family in this town, but she ran away of her own accord.”
Henry smirked. “She was legally stray. What if she had regressed to a wild state while in the woods? She would have been a menace to the public at large. To think, I was accosted while doing my civic duty.”
“That is true, citizen.” replied the Officer Blue.
The blond girl cried out in panic, but there was no recourse. Henry claimed his prize.
The psychic sighed and moved toward Scott's cell door. She stared through the small glass window in the steel door for a moment then turned away. "He's guilty of theft, attempted murder, damage of private property in the second degree, interference with the lawful capture of a demon by a licensed tamer, resisting arrest, attempted escape from a holding cell during a criminal investigation, and illegal immigration."
"He's a foreigner?" asked the blue haired officer.
The psychic nodded. "He may be mentally unstable due to his previous injuries. He was injured badly during the interaction with the tamer, Henry. This man believes that he is from another world and that he came here through a glowing light in the forest."
"Right, a glowing light." agreed the pink haired officer with a slow casual nod. He was either a dingbat or telling the truth. Either way, he was not going anywhere for a while with all those charges.
"Sir, you're free to go once you sign a few forms and pass your background check." remarked the blue haired officer.
"Free to go? He attacked a girl in the woods! Aren’t you even going to contact her family? If she’s not stray in the first place, then they should have the right to at least see their daughter!" railed Scott. He refused to believe this could be seen as legal.
"He was doing his job, citiz... Sir. We will inform her family that she has been captured by a licensed tamer and give them his contact information. Either way, it does not concern you."
“Doesn’t concern me?” Scott mouthed those words several times. He could not believe the bullshit he had just heard.
"Hey, what's the perp's name?" asked Officer Blue.
The still unnamed psychic simply stated, "Scott."
"Good. Now sign here, too." stated the pink haired girl as she directed Henry to sign his release forms. He had to sign-off on what the psychic adjudicator had determined. He did so readily since he found no reason to argue against her findings. They weighed heavily in his favor.
There was a problem, however. “What is this about me needing to undergo a deep scan?”
“Ah, that’s just a standard procedure. There is no need for concern. We have to verify that you are not a wanted criminal.”
“That’s preposterous! I’m a tamer, I shouldn’t have to prove my legality after being beaten and robbed in the woods.”
“Sir, I’ll have to ask you to step into the prison cell so we can verify your status.” replied Officer Blue.
“This is an outrage!” snarled Henry. He tried to back away, but it was now his turn to be manhandled a bit.
He struggled, but the superior strength of the Officer was far beyond his ability to handle. He was locked inside the containment cell. A bright blue light flared and the deep scan of his DNA and etheric structure was completed in short order.
The pink haired girl read through the information then blinked. “What the...”
“You’ll hear from my attorney, you pink haired slut!” snarled Henry. He knew full-well what the demon Officer had found after the scan.
“You’ll need that attorney, citizen. You’re wanted on multiple counts of attempted demon theft, among other things.”
“Damn you, let me out of here! I’m the victim here.”
The psychic adjudicator shrugged when the Officers looked to her. “He may be the victim of this issue, but if he has outstanding warrants he is not allowed to tame or bond with a demon.”
“Bond?” called out Scott.
“Ah yes, Sir. Can you be quiet? This no longer concerns you.” replied the blue haired officer.
“Cerene and I bonded in the woods, so yes it does concern me!” he snapped in irritation.
“What? Let me verify that! Why wasn't I told about that, either.” The detective walked back over to his cell and looked Scott in the eyes.
"We didn't know. All we knew was that the angel had taken him to the hospital and he claimed to be her master. There was no way to know if a bond had actually occurred since it was only a signature on paper.
"Fine, but this is certainly a complication." groused the judge. She stared deeply into Scott's eyes and searched for the truth.
“It is as he says. The angel healed his wounds using her special bond skill. They have certainly shared a bonding experience.”
“Great, now this shit is even more complicated. Why do the weird cases come in when my shift is about to end?” asked Officer Pink.
The psychic judge nodded slowly. “Given the fact that the tamer known as Henry did not have a legal right to capture and tame any demon at the time, he cannot lay claim to the angel. Please check the one known as Scott to see if he is in the system.”
“Sure, one moment.” replied Officer Blondie.
The blue light flared inside Scott’s cell. Several minutes passed and she shook her head. “He doesn’t exist. He’s never even been written a ticket for jay-walking, until now.”
“I see. His judgment is suspect due to the possibilities of an aberrant mental state. However, I counsel leniency due to his exemplary record of civil obedience. Besides that point, it is not a crime to attack and subdue a wanted man even if you did not know the man was wanted in the first place.”
The blue haired girl smacked her fist into her open palm. She might be able to get off work soon. “Sounds good to me! What’s your judgment, ma’am?”
Scott was suddenly hopeful that he would be released. The tide was turning in his favor!
“Unfortunately, the one known as Scott has proven to be a danger to both himself and to others. He will need to be remanded over to a correctional institute until such time as we can find a suitable sponsor to take him in and help him regain his proper level of stability.”
“I’m not crazy! I’m just not from around here!” snapped Scott.
The judge sighed. “That too is a problem. If you aren’t mentally imbalanced, you are still unaware of the legalities of our land. The fact is that if the man known as Henry was not a wanted criminal, you could have spent up to forty years in prison for what you did.”
Scott stared at her in shock. He could go to prison for forty years? “Forty years for trying to help someone...”
“Exactly. Helping people is a wonderful thing, but what you did can be seen as endangering the public good. Whether you are mentally unstable or merely foreign to this world, the end result is the same. It is too dangerous to let you run wild. You need to be monitored and educated for both the good of society and your own.”
“I, I suppose. What happens to Cerene, though? She doesn’t deserve to be treated like this. She was just scared.”
The judge looked at him briefly then a soft smile creased her normally stoic features. “Such concern for a demon is rare."
"This is my judgment." The adjudicator looked around the room then back to Scott. "You will be remanded into care of the state. Cerene will be returned to her family. However, by law she will be considered your legal property. That way, even if they want to do so, her family cannot legally sell her off."
She took a breath then smiled. "Once each week you will be allowed supervised conjugal bonding visits that last for no more than four hours. After you have completed a minimum of six months' worth of re-education and employment probation you can be together. You have already tamed and bonded her. As such, it would be for her best good to remain with you.”
“I can accept that gladly.” replied Scott.
The psychic smiled at the man once more. “I suspected that you might.”
Xxxx
Scott sighed at the tiny window in his single-bed cell. The constant drip of water outside was slowly driving him insane. When the rain had ceased the incessant dripping had begun. It had been several hours since the rain had stopped, yet water continued to run off of the side of the building.
Three days had passed since his sentencing. The trial, such as it was, had been a cut and dry affair. He was guilty of being an idiot, but innocent of attacking an innocent man. Henry was a wanted criminal. Immediately after his trial he had been moved to a long term cell, one with actual metal bars instead of a freaky light show to keep him in check.
No amount of explanations or mitigating circumstances saved him from his prison sentence entirely, though the adjudicator's sentence was much better than what he had originally been about to face. There had been another minor bit of leniency in one respect. After extensive calls to neighboring countries, no one had record of him. That fact had granted greater credibility to his claim to be from another world.
The man's musings concerning his situation were broken shortly thereafter when a vaguely familiar voice called out. "So, I see the criminal is still in his cage."
Scott tilted his head toward the sound and sat up. “You! What the hell are you doing here?"
"What? You aren’t happy to see me?" Henry laughed snidely.
"You're lucky to be in that cage. What you did to me in the woods would have gotten you killed otherwise." explained Henry casually.
"You keep telling yourself that, asshole."
"Asshole! You attack me like a common bandit in the woods, but I'm an asshole? Really, what's the world coming to?" snarked the man casually before sliding a gloved hand into his pouch.
“According to your record, you are a common bandit. That’s why you were put in a cage as well. How are you free, anyway?”
“I paid the fine, obviously. Unlike you, I’m worth a damn. People who I know don’t like it when I am in prison.”
Scott growled at him angrily. Henry laughed once more then offered a darker expression. "You should now that I went through a lot of trouble to re-capture that little whore." He smirked a little then said. "It was worth it, though."
"What?" asked Scott angrily. He could not have just heard what he thought that he had heard.
Henry laughed in a falsely jovial manner. "Why my pretty little angel, she sounded so cute last night."
"Mother fucker..." growled Scott in a slow burning rage. He moved toward the steel bars of his cage, his body visibly shaking.
"Oh? Don't like knowing that do we? She's a screamer, did you know?" The man said crudely, before he casually tossed his head back and unleashed a full belly laugh.
"I'm sorry. I don't think that I heard you right." replied Scott in a cold tone.
Henry shook his head and said, "My powerless little bandit friend, you must be deaf. I said... I had her."
Scott moved his hands up to grab the bars before he spoke again. "A needle dicked shit like you? You’re right. I really must be deaf because there's no way that I just heard that."
The tamer glared hatefully at Scott for a brief second then snorted. His hubris got the better of him. He moved in a little closer and leaned forward to speak again. "I was big enough to make her scream. Think about that while you rot in here."
Scott stood there for a moment. He neither moved nor blinked. Finally, after the moment passed he said, "You like it when they scream, huh?"
Henry leaned in a little closer to rub the salt a little deeper into the wound. "I love it when they scream."
Scott's hands flew out with serpent-like speed to wrap around the man's head. He dragged him forward with a hard yank. Henry's head slammed into the bars with enough force to stun him for a moment.
Enraged, Scott screamed into Henry's ear before repeatedly slamming the assholish creature’s face into the bars in a brutal display of animal aggression. Once the captive tamer managed to break free, he jumped back while he unleashed and agonized scream. His face was a mass of bruises and his lip was busted.
Scott gripped the bars again before calling out, "Was it good for you, too?"
The tamer roared out words that sounded like a magical incantation culled from a poorly written fantasy novel. He screamed again as a crackling current of raw energy surged around him. The jail was warded against hostile magic and unlicensed psychic abilities. The etheric backlash rendered Henry unconscious within seconds.
Like a man possessed, Scott pressed his face to the bars and shouted, "You're so fucking cute! I love it when you scream for daddy, baby."
Perhaps there was a very good reason for Scott to be in a cell after all. Either way, it was not long before an Officer showed up to see what was going on.
"What the hell happened down here?" asked a familiar pink haired Officer as she took in the sight of her prisoner's hateful smile and the unconscious man on the floor.
“This bastard says he re-captured Cerene.” said Scott.
“Cerene? The angel girl from a few days ago? He shouldn’t have been able to do that.” replied the law enforcement demon.
“He claimed it.”
"It wouldn't have been legal to do so. If anything it would be yet another case of theft on his part." cited the officer.
“Thank you Officer. I... would you be willing to check on her to make sure this asshole really didn’t try anything?” asked Scott.
“Of course, sir. Demon theft is a serious issue.”
Another officer showed up not long after and the two began to discuss what needed to be done. Henry, the douchebag tamer would end up being carted off to the local healer's union before being tried for trespassing. Scott would be left to his own devices.
Later, the psychic judge came through to properly obtain information regarding the incident. Scott was deemed hostile, but provoked and nothing more came of the event. She did pass along the information that he had requested. Cerene was doing perfectly fine, and was even attending special classes to learn how to properly fight and function in a harem.
Things became routine and uneventful after that. As the days passed Scott worried that he would never get out of prison. One week after he had been sentenced, a middle aged couple came to see him. They announced themselves as Cerene’s parents.
“We wanted to thank you for helping our daughter. We had been so worried!” said Cerene’s Mother, Ilka. She was a friendly looking middle-aged woman with striking black hair and interesting eyes.
“I don’t know what we would have done if she had been captured by a man like that Henry.” said Anderson, Cerene’s father. He was an average looking man with short hair, but a friendly smile.
Scott could see where Cerene had gotten her sweet nature. They seemed to be far nicer people than he had been led to believe while he had wondered the woods with his sorely missed angel friend.
They talked civilly for a few minutes. Scott related what happened during his time spent with their daughter and they cried a little after being reminded of the reason that she was in the woods in the first place.
As it turned out the Cerene had been wrong. Her parents had been looking for her for weeks. After some discussion it became clear that she had overheard them trying to figure out a way to get her out of town. She had needed to leave before she wound up as some tamer's sex toy. The girl had apparently overheard the part about how she had to leave and thought that it meant that she would be thrown out. They had been looking for her ever since.
Scott told them more of his story. They listened with wild eyes as he explained the insanity of it all to them. He told them about how he was foreign to this world and did not want to cause problems. He genuinely wanted what was best for their daughter.
After a short time passed a loud girlish wail could be heard. “Mooo-om, Daaa-ad! You’re taking up all of our special time!”
Scott stood up a little straighter. That voice!
Anderson laughed nervously then stared at Scott in the manner of a father who has to accept a harsh reality. “Yeah, I guess we are.”
Cerene bounced over to Scott’s prison cell and lifted up her right hand. She waved her fingers softly and smiled at him. It was a warm, happy smile. He returned that smile with genuine warmth as well.
Ilka coughed a little then poked her husband in the side with her elbow. He looked down at her then frowned. She led him away, but the man turned to look at Scott. His eyes remained locked on the prisoner’s face until they left the cell-block altogether. Scott could not help but think that the man was not prepared for his little girl to have a man in her life.
As soon as they left, Cerene pressed her body against the cell door. Her supple breasts squeezed between the bars in an attempt to get as close to him as possible. The sight stirred Scott a bit, but he managed to retain control of himself.
He reached through the bars and gave her a warm hug. They kissed sweetly for a moment then enjoyed the feeling of simply being close to each other.
“They won’t let me go into your cell.” she said sadly.
“It’s OK. I’m just happy to see you.” replied Scott.
“Are you? That’s so sweet!” Cerene bit her lower lip then kissed him once more.
“Yes. I barely know you, but... I missed you.”
Her face took on a crimson shade and she shook her head. “I feel the same. I’ve never known anyone who would do anything for me like you did.”
“Anyone would have done that, Cerene. Who could stand to see something like that happen?”
“A lot of people...” she replied softly.
Scott kissed her soft, pink, lips then slid his hands down to caress her lower back. “Well, a lot of people can kiss my ass.”
She laughed; surprised that he had said such a thing. “Mine too!”
“Nope, denied.” said Scott.
“Hmm, denied?” she asked softly.
He reached down and gripped her pertly rounded posterior then pulled her against the bars. “Mine. All, mine.”
She giggled once more, then kissed him on the nose. “OK, it’s all yours.”
“Ha. I win.” he said before acquiring a smug look.
Cerene kissed him lightly on the nose through the bars. "Are you sure? You might go blind if you look at me in the wrong light."
Scott laughed a little then shook his head. "Even if I do, you'll just give me a little of that sweet blessing of yours, right?"
Soft laughter was her immediate response. It was really nice to be with him, she could feel her nervousness and concerns flowing away. The last few weeks had been an unending nightmare, but in her darkest moment he had arrived in a flash of light and made everything alright again. She pressed herself against the bars even more. Just a little closer. She wanted to be just a little closer to him.

A new mother that recently hit rock bottom not long before giving birth to a child she never planned to have is whisked to a new world of magic and monsters. Her prodigious intelligence earns her a free magical skill, and though she makes great use of it, little does she know that in this new land, magic is the highest taboo imaginable, and for a good reason. She learns quickly that she will have to be the bigger monster to protect the only thing in her life worth protecting, her child, and with her particular set of skills, there's an unending tide of enemies waiting to have a piece of her. What to expect: An unforgiving madness-inducing magic system, secret identity shenanigans, biological magic and therefore body-horror, a barebones and unintrusive status screen system, a genius-intellect self-serving main character. Trigger warning Contains mentions and brief descriptions of rape. Release Schedule Weekly releases on Friday 5pm EST

These days a new, ugly kind of violence is rising on the streets. As a bizarre group of characters emerges from Port City's underbelly, Wyatt will be forced into making a difficult decision. Will he remain a cop? Or will he serve a different kind of justice? (Author's Note: I started writing this about 10 years ago and only now got around to the idea of uploading it. As a result, much of this predates the rising popularity of the Green Arrow. I'm uploading as is, but future drafts will make minor alterations to the character to differentiate it.)
