《Rebirth in a corrupt world》Chapter 14 - Rescue

Author: Thankyou guys for reading my fiction.
I saw the comments and I agree, I made some changes to the way things were written so it is better to believe. Thank you to the guys who always pop up saying thanks (I see you).
The changes were only in the way the city is made and how long it really took the mc to make the grenade. I also hate when a character suddenly creates some type of bullshit life saving device from his/her ass out of nowhere. You guys can read up on the changes, but there is no real change in the story, just the details.
Any other comments are welcome. (I will not suddenly leave on a cliffhanger either)
-------------------------------------------------------------
My step were light and full of as much strength I can put in them. A group of about 18 guards stormed into the building to get to Shiro and Puerial. Even if I wanted to I could not immediately break into the building since there were a few guards posted around to prevent escape. It took some adjustment but I managed to adapt to fighting in this increased speed, so as long as I’m fast enough, these guys won’t take long.
The amount of enemies I could see when I went toward the building numbered around four outside. My position was directly behind the main entrance overlooking a few windows. I grasped one of the throwing blades I stole from the guards and hurled it directly into the back of the bowman’s head in front of me. He dropped quick as I prepared to take on the guy to the left of the building.
I have long since improved my stats enough to contend with these guys as long as they don't exceed three at once. With the element of surprise, and decent equipment to aid me as well, my chances are good. Daring not to waste time, all my attacks were aimed for immediate death. These guys were being paid to hunt and kill me so they should expect the same treatment.
Mere moments and I was already in front of the next guard, his blade was already prepared to meet me. With practiced hands, he swung his blade in order to behead me. But I am still quite short so ducking under the blade posed no problem for me. My height has grown a bit so this advantage won't last long. With his guard open, his heart was struck before he could pull his blade back.
Pushing away from this position I headed toward the main entrance and the guard blocking the it as well. My position prevented the guard on the other side of the building from noticing what happened so he will be showing up late to help his friend.

The guard started calling for assistance from the other one as he met my sword. His surprise over the strength I was able to put into it showed he didn’t expect much from me. Unfortunately for him I wasn’t going to wait for his friend to come. My current speed exceeds what I could do when this all started, making my movement hard for the guard to grasp. With swift movements he was disarmed and his neck sliced open as he stared at me with hatred filled eyes. Lament your own mistake for targeting me. The final guard was too heated to focus on his situation and made a large swing toward me. His training was nonexistent as he left such a large opening. I stepped into his swing and pierced his chest, as he stared at the sudden wound, I removed the blade and immediately beheaded him.
I waste no time to enter the building, the halls are narrow and will allow combat between small groups. Shiro won't have to fight them all at once. There was only a few guards on the way up, who were most likely going to see what the commotion outside was. Anxiety was building within me as I moved up. The whole building was three floors in height, but it felt like hundreds to me as I ran.
---------------------------------------------------------
Shiro’s POV
I saw Kuro throw one of his loud bomb things at that Lord and trick the other’s into leaving. He always has a plan and never abandons me. Ah, I want to sleep next to him more, his smell is so amazing lately I can't stop trying to sniff him. He gets mad when I do it while we are doing something important, so I try to resist. Puerial has also started to get close to Kuro. At first I was really mad that she kept trying to get close to him, but she is nice so I don't mind anymore.
A bunch of guards are left and are entering the building, but I see Kuro coming from outside. I will use the things he showed me to fight long enough for him to come help. He always comes.
…
I’m using one of the things Kuro taught me to keep the guards coming in small amounts. To keep them from charging I left a lot of broken things in the hall to buy time. It’s seems to be working since the guards are having trouble getting to me.
So far I managed to kill a few but my body is starting to hurt. There are too many of them and I am almost at the door to the big room Puerial is in.

“Shiro move out of the way! [Mana Wave]” (Puerial)
I dove away from the hall and the guards were about to jump into the room but were all pushed back. [Mana Wave] was something Kuro helped Puerial learn. I don’t really know the details of how it works, but it’s more effective on the guards than the [Mana Pulse]. We tried it before, but it didn’t do much.
Puerial can use her other magic more easily now but the [Mana Wave] is very tiring for her.
The guards are getting up to attack again, only two of the group stop moving. I don’t know how much longer we can hold.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Kuro POV
I’m finally at the last corridor leading to Shiro and Puerial. I see a total of five guards left dead on the floor, on my way up I met four. There are only nine guards left bearing down on my party members. With hastened steps I finally reach my group, Shiro is badly injured and Puerial is suffering from mana exhaustion. The guards look to be readying to finish this, I spot some in the back with slave collars.
I feel my blood begin to boil as I rush toward them. One of my daggers plunged into the closest guards back getting stuck. I quickly remove his sword from his hand and fling it toward the guard furthest ahead to halt his momentum. He takes minor damage from this but is distracted enough for Shiro to finish him off. Puerial seems to have passed out when she noticed my entrance.
The remaining seven guards took notice of me and try to bar me from reaching my team. To gain some edge in this fight, I grabbed some debris off the floor and hurl it at one of the guard's eyes. He loses himself and destroys their formation. Using this chance I move toward the blinded guard and slash at a nearby guards crotch to further increase their panic and build distance between them. The attack was shallow but was enough to make him scream for his future kids. Hesitation started to build in the other guards.
The blinded one was easily finished of and a path was opened to my group.
My back was to Shiro as I gazed back at the guards. Both sides unwilling to make the first move. My left hand outstretched and was placed on her injury. I sent Light mana into her with the obvious intention of treating her injuries.
It was then that I finally got the skill I have been seeking.
Healing RayActive SkillNovice Level 1Description:Light mana is siphoned from the user to heal a targets injuries. The closer the target the easier it is to heal.EffectsBody Regeneration +1% /s within 0-1 meter of the target.
Body regeneration +.5% /s within 2-3 meters of the target.
Upkeep: 400 MP /s
I couldn’t keep healing for too long because of the upkeep but the effects visibly showed. Shiro’s bleeding stopped and her skin was no longer as pale, the haze that was forming in her eyes swiftly reverted into it’s normal vibrant image. She finally understood that I was before her and smiled. With her injuries being out of the red zone we were both able to push the remaining guards back with our polished teamwork.
Shiro’s movements weren’t as graceful as they normally were, but were still far more refined than the guards who relied on formations and strength. My earlier stunt left them too cautious to move in as me and Shiro killed two more guards with our new habit of suddenly switching between each other's targets to confuse the enemy. It was something Puerial suggested and we practiced it many times before hand. This has made things a lot more troublesome for the guards.
Suddenly one of the guards seemed to realized his life was more valuable than the money the Lord was paying him and left cursing. The remaining three seemed to have similar ideas and followed right after.
I healed up Shiro a bit more and brought her and Puerial out of the area to a safer location. We moved into the underground to avoid detection while we were recovering. As I healed Shiro my mind focused on my mistake of leaving them without a proper escape route. If I was any later I would have lost them. Such things will not happen again.
I gazed at the closing wound vowing that the Lord and all his family will pay and that this will all end tomorrow.
----------------------------------------------------------------
A/N: hey guys sorry if this is a bit late some stuff came up but I will always post the day after a cliffhanger, I hate waiting on those things too.
*Sigh* I think I am getting sick...Stay healthy people.
