《Reborn into a RPG?》Prologue - Last regret

“Hah, this is just perfect.” Kyros laughed in self-mockery.
He was currently in an awkward situation.
Kyros had promised himself that he would never go out of his way to help another human, especially a girl at that. He had been subjected to all sorts of bullying growing up, and he has never recovered from those years. However, when he saw those poles falling from the crane overhead, he could see the trajectory of the poles were going to land on the high school girl.
Without thinking his body had already spurred into action. He ran for the first time in what seemed like years and pushed the girl out of the way. All he heard was a loud clang and the next second he was laying on the sidewalk.
Ah, I hope she doesn’t try and thank me or anything… hopefully, she just leaves me alone. He thought to himself. Human interaction was something he avoided daily.
At the same time of thinking that he had tried to get up, however, he couldn’t seem to push himself off the ground. His arms were weak and no matter how hard he pushed he couldn’t even budge himself.
Kyros could see the girl get up and turn around in confusion, however, when she saw him she screamed, panic showing on her face.
Ah really, this is why I shouldn’t go out of my way. She’s seriously going to act like I’m a pervert who tried touching her… Come on, obviously, I was pushing you out of the way. What am I even doing trying to be a hero...
Tears started to stream down her face, not moving as if fear had taken hold of her body. Soon a whole crowd also came rushing over, with mixed looks of shock and fear. One bastard even had a camera out filming.
Oh no, this isn’t looking good... I better run before someone calls the police. Seriously why can’t I get up… huh did I fall in a puddle? Anyway, I better say something.
“Hey um, it’s not what it looks like, I was just trying to help” Kyros tried to explain, however his voice sounded weak to himself.

“Sir! you shouldn’t talk, try to con..ve y.ur ..ren.th…..” An old man was saying, for some reason his voice faded out towards the end and his face became a little blurry in Kyros’s vision.
Kyros tried looking behind him, however, what he saw explained a lot. A 1m pole had impaled him through his stomach and pinned his stomach to the ground.
Holy shit! Am I going to die?! Wait… why do I even care at this point? Yeah, I don’t. Good thing my body is going numb though because that looks pretty fucking painful.
Kyros wasn’t afraid of death if anything he was upset he did it while helping another person. What had others ever done for him? He should have just kept to himself, no one could hurt him if he didn't associate with them.
That puddle he though he fell in turned out to be himself bleeding out.
Kyros’s vision slowly grew blurrier and darker, until his vision went completely black.
Hmm well guess this sort of lame death suits me, it’s not like I had anything going for me... WAIT, NO!! I was only one level from maxing my character in Voidplane ARGHH! Couldn’t this have waited a couple of days!
Kyros was an avid gamer, throughout his life he had always been bullied because of his girly looks, and he eventually shut himself off to the world. He started playing MMORPG’s because it was like another life where he could be anything he wanted to be. His characters were always macho and had names such as Manlydude7 or Gymbro2. He had a severe trauma towards his feminine looks, years of bullying from had traumatised him.
As Kyros was anguishing over his loss of maxing his character, something was observing him. Something so ancient that is simply unexplainable, a being that’s presence made you feel the need to worship it.
“Hmm what a curious little human you are. I guess you did something good by saving the girl. I can also see you had quite a hard life, I’ll tell you what. I’ll let you choose where you reincarnate to. So what sort of world would you like to reincarnate into?” an ancient voice that sounded neither male nor female spoke out.

“Stop talking nonsense, I’m trying to think. I can’t remember if I cleared my internet history… Ah, this could be bad.” Kyros figured he must be hallucinating, hence why he ignored the voice.
“Hahaha for such a weak little soul, you have guts. Most would either submit and worship me once they feel my power, or some of those more ancient beings may try and challenge me. Never lost a fight though haha.” The ancient voice laughed to itself.
“I’m dead anyway, why should I be scared?” Kyros responded with an annoyed tone.
“I could reincarnate you as a worm, to live your life as a worthless bug.”
“Eh, I wasn’t exactly amazing in the last life. I don’t know, a worm could be fun. Just chilling about eating apples, no worries. Actually, that sounds pretty good.” Kyros truly believed he was still hallucinating so he wasn’t being serious. He was still in shock.
“Hahaha! It’s rare for someone so interesting to pass over. I’ll tell you what, what is your final regret? I’ll reincarnate you with a slight benefit so you can fulfill it.” The ancient voice said in amusement.
“Final regret, well plenty of those… Well, if I had to pick one, I guess I never did get to max out my character on Voidplane.”
“Seriously? You’re talking about that game you humans play for entertainment? You don’t regret not being rich or being unpopular with the opposite sex?”
“Nah only needed enough money to keep my memberships in tack and I stopped caring about other people ages ago.” Kyros stated with pride.
“Yeah right... well, I have just the world for you. Beware though, humans are only a part of this world. This is completely different from your homeworld Earth, in fact just in size it is over 1000 times larger. Also, it’s a lot more dangerous than your homeworld, if you’re not careful I could be seeing you again soon.” The ancient voice rang out.
“Wait, do you mean reincarnation?” Kyros asked.
“Of course. What else would I do with you? I’m not going to keep you around for company. Now because your last life was so pitiful, I'm going to give you a little gift to help you in your next life. Good luck pitiful one."
Kyros's vision went black as soon as the being finished talking.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
All of a sudden it was no longer black. Kyros awoke in a forest looking up into the sky. The forest was nothing like the ones he had normally seen, the trees towered up to 50m high. It was completely otherworldly to his eyes.
As he stood up he felt different… he felt taller. Also, he wasn’t wearing the jeans and t-shirt he had been when he died, instead, he was stark naked. He tried covering himself up but then realised that he was in the middle of nowhere, and didn’t care any longer.
Kyros started to grope his face, and as suspected it was completely different, his nose felt sharper and lips softer. His cheekbones seemed to stand out more and his eyelashes... were the same length. In fact his body seemed to be slimmer than before than it dawned on him.
"Noooooooo!! I’m even more feminine! Damn you whoever you were, acting like you were so benevolent in reincarnating me!” Kyros started screaming to the sky, however by the end his voice sounded defeated.
“Ah well... already spent 20 years like this, what's another life?”
Hmm, wait why was I reincarnated as an adult and not born? weird...
As Kyros was talking to himself, he noticed something in the corner of his eyesight… a little box saying status screen. It doesn’t affect his sight unless he focuses on it, which he did.
All of a sudden a status box opened up in his eyesight.

An Unbound Soul
When Peter suffers a too-close encounter with a truck, he finds himself reborn in another world. At first glance it is a perfect fantasy land. There's magic to play with, elves singing in the forest and a hyperactive catgirl neighbour. There's even a System that lets him earn skills and level up. But it isn't long before he notices that the world is far too perfect. Just why is everyone so nice? Can Peter accept the alien morality of this world's self-proclaimed protector, or will he seek to overthrow her? Set after the events of A Lonely Dungeon, a few hundred years after the rebirth of civilization, this is a story about an earthling falling into Erryn's new world and the subsequent struggles of himself and Erryn to understand each other. It's a slow paced slice of life, and while there are pieces of action, don't expect any immediate grand conflict between Erryn and Peter. Published here, scribblehub and amazon.
