《Blood and Honor》Chapter 2- Free and Clear, or Not...

Real World...
Kevin woke up with a groan, his body and head still hurt from yesterdays all day raid on the caravan and survival run. That was the downside of the Visor over the FIVR Capsule, it had a higher physical cost. He immediately went to the bathroom to take a shower and get ready for the day. Breakfast was getting ready while he was in the shower so no time was wasted. He had to get back into Fate Online and scout the area around the Sawmill/Town to see if he was clear to move out and maybe see what happened with Thera. He could see sunlight start streaming through his windows, he knew it was time to dive back into Fate Online. He put the visor on his head and laid down on his couch.
Do you wish to initialize your Visor?? Yes/No
What application do you want to initialize? Fate Online
Welcome Immortal, do you wish to continue down the path of Jacob Longstrider? Yes/No
Acknowledged. Remember the only Fate is the one you make, but every choice has a consequence.
Slow breaths in and out as his vision exploded in white light and...
Fate Online...
Jacob Farstrider opened his eyes, he was still within the Chapel of Demeter. Due to him logging out within the Chapel he had gained a blessing,
Alert...
Buff Received Blessed by Demeter: Crops will be more abundant and grow 25% faster, you will Harvest resources 10% Faster (Duration 12 Hours)
Alert...
The blessing would last the next 12 hours, but it was completely useless to him. He currently didn't have any professions. He looked around but did not see any Guards and all the villagers were busy with work, so Jacob checked on his weapons and headed out. Just another Immortal passing through, hopefully, he would be forgotten.
Jacob had wished he had invested in an animal he could ride, long-distance travel was about to become a serious problem. He was about 20 miles from base camp, it would take a minimum of two days to get back if he was lucky. If he ran into any guards or PKers, it would be even longer. At least his gut was not screaming at him today. So he should not run into any problems...Hopefully.

About 5 miles northwest of the village with no name Jacob saw a dust cloud approaching traveling southwest toward his direction. He had time to hide before he had to get off the road. Then the situation got worse when he heard a large thunderclap that announced the opening of a Portal. Jacob wasn't sure where it was, but it was within half a mile, so he immediately went for the densest foliage to hide. Jacob stayed quiet while he heard whatever force that had ported in assemble on the road. Around 48 Warriors, Mages, and Archers of Various professions assembled in front of a Sergeant and Captain.
"Shut your word holes you maggots unless your offering to service my horse!!!!" the lvl 80 Sergeant bellowed out. Immediately the ranks started quieting down.
"Gentleman, we have nearly hunted down the Bloody Hands to extinction. Reports state that we have one more within 10 miles of this location, we are going to spread out at sweep toward the Bone River and catch this scum. The first round will be on me boys if you catch this trash before sundown." The level 120 Captain yelled out. The men and women under his command roared back in response before breaking up and sweeping into the woods on either side of the road.
How the fuck did they find me, was all Jacob could think. He had traveled nearly 20 miles downriver, no way should the Guards have been able to find him. Jacob had not seen any other Immortals to report him, so what had he missed...it didn't matter Jacob had to get out of there before he was found. So using every bit of stealth he had learned over the last six months he slowly snuck away from the road and further away from any patrols. He used Camouflage (increases your ability to blend in with your surroundings by 50%, this is a passive skill) constantly. The only good thing about that was since it was a Passive skill, it did not suck up all my Stamina from the constant use.
After nearly an hour, Jacob was barely a mile away from the road and continuing to head west when he saw a Flare go up within 500 ft of his location. Shit, Fuck, time to leg it!!! was all Jacob could think. Jacob activated Swift Feet and started running away, trying to put some distance between him and the roving patrols. He heard another thunderclap ahead of him and threw himself into some bushes. "Spread out and find the bastard!!" Jacob heard. Dammit, why can't they just leave him alone? The noose was tightening, and he was running out of room to maneuver, he needed a miracle, or he was going to be dead very soon.

Jacob saw an outcropping of huge boulders about half a mile north-west of his current position, it was surrounded by trees and brush. A great place to make a last stand, plenty of places to hide while striking from the dark while fading back into the shadows. Jacob triggered Swift Feet again and desperately ran for his ambush site. He heard a shout off to his left and behind him, but no Mark of the Damned or Hunters Mark found him. Woohoo, lady luck finally smiled on him a little Jacob mused. He dived in between two boulders and immediately began making preparations for his last stand. Simple spike traps, Smoke bombs, and additional arrows for his bow.
Jacob had six entrances mined with Spike Traps to slow down any hostiles. Jacob saw about 30 soldiers mustered and ready to attack his position including a lvl 75 Sergeant. He was boned, the only question was, how many was he going to take with him. "Hey Sergeant, can you come back tomorrow. I am still tired from fucking your Mom and Sister last night." Jacob yelled. The Sergeants face was red as a tomato, "Don't worry boys, I made sure to service your girlfriends and sisters too!!!". Jacob yelled. Now the whole band was stark raving mad and out for his blood. Good, fighting mad is fighting stupid.
Jacob immediately unleashed an Explosive Arrow (Arrow explodes on impact 500 fire damage within 10 ft and causes fire and bleeding damage over time) into the crowd. It was like watching a match light up a soaked grill. He immediately dashed back further into the boulders while fire and lightning chased after him. He laughed as the magical strikes missed, Jacob watched as the first soldiers scrambled over the Spike Traps. They did minor damage, but they slowed the soldiers down, this was key to his strategy. He targeted the rocks above the pissed off Soldiers heads and unleashed another Explosive Arrow and brought down a couple of hundred pounds of rocks on about 8 Soldiers, burying them alive.
Jacob heard screams and yells off to his left, so he dashed off to the passage hoping to slow them down before they breached his perimeter. As soon as he turned the corner he nearly ate a Fireball. Jacob wasn't ready to become bbq, so he threw a smoke bomb toward the oncoming mass of soldiers and shot off 4 arrows hoping to kill or wound some soldiers before dashing further back into the outcropping. Now that it was less chaotic, Jacob noticed everything was turning darker, and he could hear whispering. He put his bow away and drew his Short Sword and hunting Knife as moved further into the darkness.
As Jacob moved further and further into the darkness, the whispers grew louder. He could almost make out what they were saying, he would just have to get a little closer. As he moved deeper and deeper into the darkness, the whispering grew loud enough to make sense. "Welcome, the sacrifice has been excepted. The challenge will begin in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1." What sacrifice, what challenge? Were the only thoughts that ran through Jacobs' mind before the ground disappeared below his feet and pitch-black darkness claimed him.
Welcome to the Tomb of Eternal Night-Dungeon level Primordial Nightmare
"Mortal, I hope you enjoy your stay for however long its lasts." were the last words Jacob heard before darkness claimed him.

The Deathseeker [Under Revision]
NOTE: This story has dark elements, but it's neither grimdark nor particularly edgy. It's also currently being revised. Satan's Axe...Lord of High Honor...The Immortal Giant...The Black Maelstrom...Son of Thunderfield...The Gods' Retribution. Dalric had many names. None were as fitting as his last, Dalric the Deathseeker. Born from an unwanted mating between the greatest warriors of the time, death was his only true kin. It birthed him, molded him, and now standing in the middle of a lifeless battlefield, it drenched him. The blood of thousands of soldiers soaked his skin. Two hundred thousand men approached him that day. All of them sought his life, none of them left with theirs. But they would not die in vain, they had accomplished their mission. Hidden beneath a thousand layers of their blood, was Dalric's very own. Feeling his life fade, he gazed weakly at his work. A seemingly endless array of corpses laid battered and disfigured before him. Some bore faces of horror, most had no face at all. His most trusted companion floated in front of him, blocking the view. Waves of sorrow flowed between them. “My time has finally come. I’ve begged for death and it’s finally arrived. My work is done...and so is yours. You’re free to be who you were meant to.” With his contract with the gods fulfilled, they were truly free. The centuries of torment would end. No longer would they have to walk the path of a monster. Little did Dalric know, the devil was in the details. What To Expect: A good time. In a few more words than that, a cast of believable characters in a unique world dealing with conflicts and problems a little bit more complex than punching the big evil guy in the face. Just a little though. Minimum Word Count a Week: 5000 Release Time(s): Between Friday 12pm EST and Monday 6am EST I also write A King in the Clouds

Blood & Noodles
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] As they always have, humanity hunts the gods roaming the world, craving the supernatural power that flows within their veins. Even a drop is zealously guarded, passed from master to student through the ages. It is with this stolen power that the Blooded - those with divine blood coursing through them - grasp beyond mortality and achieve prestige, power, and greatness. Yet, for every fraction of power gained, thousands perish, slain by the gods' supernatural prowess. But everything is beginning to change. Eight years ago, for the first time in human memory, a god was felled. Part-time chef and full-time nuisance Orvi wants nothing to do with gods. Living in a derelict city, his only concerns are ensuring his adopted family's restaurant is prosperous and how to best beat the neighbourhood boys in a fight. If he's lucky, he might even snag a date with the farmer's daughter at the market. But even though he cares nothing for the gods or their blood, the world won't leave him alone forever. Because to reach godhood, one must first leave their humanity behind. *** The first arc of Blood & Noodles follows the adolescent Orvi as he attempts to navigate his rapidly changing home and - by his own definition - protect his family. The story is told almost entirely in the first-person, from the perspective of a teenager who isn't always the sharpest tool in the shed. There are tragic elements, especially in the current arc. It's character-focused and driven, though the protagonist's shenanigans are backdropped by a world operating independently from him. Orvi's a generally light-hearted character, and though the story veers into darker territory, I also want it to be able to make readers smile. Action sequences, despite the fantastical elements, are meant to be grounded and clearly-conveyed; Orvi is a brawler, not a warrior. I'm trying to write a story that's enjoyable to read and flows nicely, mainly because it's more fun to write. I'm also trying to improve my writing, so any feedback, whether positive or negative, is welcome!

The White Rabbit: Book 2
In the Urillian Empire, the Empress Xandra rules three-quarters of the planet Xren from her home in the capital of the Earth Continent. Both the fire and water peoples have fallen under her might after a series of wars stretching back three centuries. Earth elves, under Xandra's rule, have spread throughout the planet and established colonies, and are, by all accounts, enjoying what seems to be a prosperous and happy existence. But not everyone in Uril is happy. The holy books speak of elves as the Chosen People of Thesis, tasked with guiding and protecting the lower races. For some people, this scripture has been interpreted to designate their life as one on the lowest rungs of society. Humans have been reduced to a slave class, and serve their elven masters under Xandra's rule, kept at bay by the constant fear of the dreaded Emerald Knight, and their own perceived weakness. Humans do not lead long lives, nor do they possess the wisdom, power, or magical acumen of their elven masters. But there is hope. A group of people have banded together to fight against Xandra, her Knight, and her empire. They call themselves the "Knights of Order" united under the principle idea that Xandra's reign has brought chaos unto Xren, and they wish to restore order. These Knights are led by a man named Xaxac Brigaddon, spoken of as a legend. They say that when the moons are full, some humans transform into powerful beasts. They say that Xaxac is the most powerful warrior on Xren, that in his youth he was enslaved and forced to fight other humans to the death in a bloodsport called "cage fighting", that he could not be touched and held the world championship title for three years running until he faked his own death and escaped his master to join the resistance. They say that he has friends in high places- noblemen, pirates, and the devil himself. They say that if you can find him, he can ferry you to freedom in places where the Earth Elves fear to tread. They say that he is immune to magical attack, and his eyes shine like the silver moon. They say that he is descended from Quizlivian Brigaddon, one of the humans who helped the demon Magnus escape a god. They say that if you want to walk the Path of Order, you should follow the White Rabbit.Come and watch the transformation from human boy to Knight of Order: The life and times of Xaxac OfAgalon OfLangil Brigaddon. Content Warning: This work is based on the real experiences of human trafficing survivors. Xaxac's origins are based on true events, and they are presented realisitcally; this includes but is not limited to: isolation, gaslighting, emotional and sexual abuse, and grooming tactics. This work is meant to hold a mirror up to society; it is based on the real of experiences of people who have experienced slavery and/or abuse. It is an adult work and probably should not be read by anyone under the age of 18. If you are a survivor of human trafficing and/or abuse, your feedback is welcome, but please do not read this if you think it may trigger your trauma. I did not write this with the intention of harming anyone, but rather to provide accurate representation for a group that does not normally get it in the hopes of changing the zeitgeist. I would like to see a world where more people understand what these experiences are like, so that real survivors do not have to deal with microagressions from an ignorant public. Reader discretion is advised. This book does not display these elements as heavily as book 1.
