《Ragnarök》Chapter 32 : Team BALLs
Advertisement
We were in the middle of another Carnival Wars. The second Annual Carnival War Championships have arrived.
Over the past year, the BOTs have matured quite a bit.
For starters, Soup led his army through many expeditions. The army of wolves, snakes and undead skeletons were becoming stronger and stronger. There were no units below level 200. That means there were no units which were lower level than us! Soup himself came back from the expeditions at a staggering level 302. (Fucking grinder)
They travelled to all parts of RR, using the teleporter found in Loki's church which can teleport them to other churches with a teleporter installed. Usually this involves a cost but because we were so favoured by Loki, money was never a problem. Looking back, we never had money issues since... Forever. Thank god for chaotic melody. No need to spend money on pots at all =DDD
When I mean they went all over RR, they literally went all over RR. Soup led his army against several boss monsters. Towards the south he battled with a manticore. One third lion, one third snake and one third dragon. In the east, he fought with the sphinx. (He tried solving the riddle first but he was too dumb. The question was what was Venice most famous for and he answered “Their Taj Mahal.”) In the wild wild west, he fought with a Cactusmon. Cactusmon is a type of monster which is, as its name implies, a giant cactus wearing punching gloves. (I'm sorry Digimon I have to rip you off because I can't think of a better monster to exist in the wild wild west. Please don't sue me.) Last but not least, towards the icy northlands, he took his army and managed to subdue an abdominable snowman. The snowman was of no joke. It was a whopping level 350 and Soup told us it was the only monster he nearly died to.
After finishing boss monsters from all over the world (less the boss of the boss ones like Demons, Dragons, Wyverns, Demigods... You get it.) Soup managed to make such a name of himself that many cities were now trying to hire him to train their army. Carnival which was a new town had managed to get a one year protection from being taken over by a hostile city's army and it was running out. However, after his achievements, I doubt there would be any city in the world stupid enough to attempt a takeover. The army was one thing to be afraid of but as my beautiful retarded city has turned out, the people here were even scarier.
Beathoven has done such a great job managing the city. We had a few new citizens every year and they were welcomed with open arms because Beathoven had a very, very strict criteria to admit new citizens into Carnival. There were 5 extremely hard criterias to fulfill and you have to fulfill at least 3 of them before you could even be considered. This immigration policy was known as the Carnival Rules.
Carnival Rules:
1) Thou must have a unique class no other citizen in the whole of Carnival posseses.
2) Thou must be a masterclass level of a specific profession. (Availability limited)
3) Thou must possess a sense of humour so good that you need to make all 4 founders of Carnival laugh within 1 minute.
4) Thou must be able to turn on Breadtalk because of his poor erectile dysfunction disability.
5) Thou must be able to look at Longbean's face without laughing.
Simple and easy. Beathoven thought of this in less than an hour. Carnival's main problem and headache was that too many people wanted to move in here. Our town has become so famous that it received extreme media coverage. Many people gave a nicknames to our town as well. Carnival was still widely used though. More names for our city was “PenisParadise” “Dicktopia” “RetardResort” and last but definitely not least “Jinx Beats Bread & Soup”. All of a sudden I became a masochist.

Beathoven had done a brilliant job in managing the city. One of the most challenging problems was easily solved. Most people couldn't even accomplish one of the 5 criterias. Unique classes had already flocked to Carnival because of Carnival Wars and the advantage they had in it. Masterclass artisans were sought after but there were so little of them. It was hard to make me laugh unless you were a Breadtalk caliber person. All 4 of us had very different tastes in humour but since Breadtalk covers all bases for any type of humour only 2 or 3 people I ever remembered succeeded in that one. No one could turn Breadtalk on as well because he simply does not have interest in this sort of thing. And the last one was the biggest hurdle. NO ONE. I repeat. NO ONE. I repeat again. NO FUCKING ANYONE has been able to look at Longbean's fuckface without laughing.
Immigration policies were strict but Beathoven also wanted to make Carnival citizens responsible citizens. He also had policies for them to uphold or else they would be subjected to eviction from this retard city.
Responsibilities of citizens of Carnival.
1) The resident must participate in at least one major event every 3 months. (There was one major event every month).
2) The resident must participate in Carnival Wars at least once per month. (There were Carnival Wars every night.)
3) The resident must make sure his residence in the rainbow sacks looks neat and decorate it to try and differentiate it from the other genetalia in the region.
4) The resident MUST be friendly at all times. Rudeness and unpleasantness is unacceptable. Rowdiness and littering is though as long as its in the name of fun. However please clean up after you had your fun.
5) The resident must drink alcohol at parties. We have no need for pussies here.
Needless to say... No one has ever got evicted out of Carnival. The culture here was so influential here that no one was unhappy. There were never complaints from the residents. Whenever the people saw any of us, the four founders, they would just run up to us and thank us and stuff like that. We were invited to every single party that was in town. Which meant we received at least 3 invites from people every night. There were monthly events that really hyped up our life here though.
January – New Year's Day Party.
February – Who needs a partner when you got Carnival day.
March – 10KM fun march. (Attire : Underwear only.)
April – Carnival Fools.
May – Easter Funday (Every resident has 100 eggs as ammo in a 2 hour “snowball” fight)
June – Summer Bumper (A huge clubbing night. Death & Jörmungandr came this year.)
July – Independence Day (Everyone re-enacts the scene from the movie. I summon the tsunami.)
August – Festival Night (Art forms get ALOT of recognition here in Carnival.)
September – Wake Me Up When September Ends (Clubbing night 2)
October – Rocktoberfest (Halloween and Oktoberfest together)
November – Founder's Day (Celebrates founding of Carnival. The whole town is split into two teams and it's a Carnival War on the town level as Loki blesses the town for one day. Flags are in the West spine and East spine. All buildings are indestructible for one day. Whole town becomes Carnival War Arena instead of just The Ascension.)
December – Christmas (Classic Christmas. The whole town draws lots and plays secret santa. Everyone will receive and give a gift to somebody in town. Season of Giving right.)

Beathoven was quite a planner. Of course some events needed people to be in charge. I was obviously in charge of founder's day and Independence day. Horse was responsible for Festival Night and Easter Funday. Beathoven was in charge of Christmas, Summber Bumper, Wake me up when September ends and Rocktoberfest since he was the musician. Soup was in charge of the 10KM fun march since he was military and the rest belonged to Breadtalk which was the New Year's Day Party, Who needs a partner when you got Carnival day and obviously and most successfully, Carnival Fools.
Thus, Beathoven shown how much he has helped the town to grow. We were making money in the millions and the culture was ever so good. Skill wise, Beathoven only had time to be training masteries so whenever he had free time he would just practice his skills.
Breadtalk and I were similar in the sense that we were actively managing our own roles as Founders of Carnival but we always took time to train our skills. I finished the book Jörmungandr left with me and I learnt about 50 new skills and each one took me a week to get to intermediate mastery and learn it well and since there were so many spells, it wasn't boring at all.
Breadtalk went to increase his affinity with his weapons so he made monthly trips with his weapons, going to their hometown, meeting their parents, understanding them so he would be able to better make use of his abilities. After 10 months, he finished a month's worth of stay with every weapon and that greatly increased his mastery. He was already master level when we finished the second round of trials and in this past year, he was the only one who made it to “Grandmaster” level of mastery over his Loki's Armoury skill. I only saw the exploding spear in grandmaster form and let me tell you this. Picture all the best looking spears you've seen over the past few years be it if they were from Skyrim, Final Fantasy, some anime or some real life medival weapon. That exploding spear was so damn kickass it would kick all their asses.
The exploding spear was about 3 meters long, an absurd height considering it was just about 1.5 meters long the first time we saw it.Yet, because of their affinity as well as telepathy, Breadtalk was able to control it like an extension of his body. The spear was jetblack with a red, glowing aura. The tip of the spear had a guard before it that extended out perpendicular to the shaft, making it look somewhat like a crucifix. The tip of the spear was considered as long and it had a glaive sticking out of it midway from the guard to the tip. The tip was completely sharp but it had nice curves from the glaive upwards that exuded even more class and beauty. When he swung it around, the tip of the spear would leave a red trace, something like writing on air with a laser pen and it was beautiful. Flames would also erupt from the base in place of sparks when he clanged it on the ground. Also, the explosions were on a whole different level. Thank god we knew better than to stand near him when he takes out his weapons lest he tested them out on you. Just one year ago, Breadtalk poked Soup's ass with his plain looking exploding spear for the first time. Omg how time flies.
Horse had been busy with festivals and getting over Breadtalk. At first it was rough because not only did she have to see him in RR, she had to see him in school as well. We don't really hang out in real life but sometimes we share the same break time so when we go to the canteen, sometimes we see Horse and we would just greet and have a short chat. When Horse and Breadtalk saw each other in real life it was ridiculous. Breadtalk would just suddenly try to act funny and retarded which doesn't really help at all because he is already funny and retarded by default. Horse would just avoid making eye contact with Breadtalk but since we all stand really close to one another she would just stare at our torsos and talk to us. It looked ridiculous but I guess it's all part of the process. However, over the past year, Sigyn paid her a second visit because she had more than enough mana for it.
Horse had to go through a series of tests under Sigyn's private tutelage. We did not know what she went through but because Sigyn used a private room in the castle, we would occasionally go and eavesdrop on the door and I swear it sounded like someone was slaughtering an extremely noisy cow inside the room.
However, after she emerged from the week long training, sure enough she had a change that constituted the face that she had tutelage from a god. Her class changed from assasin to “Murderer”.
I could not think of a class that could suit her more. That cold disposition. The jet black eyes with a piercing stare. That haughtiness and aura. Murderer indeed. It looks like she did get influenced by Breadtalk quite a bit though. And apparently us as well.
From Breadtalk, she picked up the habit of testing her skills out on people. And by people I meant Breadtalk alone. So instead of Breadtalk testing out his weapons on us, Horse was testing her skills on him. On the day she told us her job change, she decided to break to us the new by trying out her new skill, “Without a trace”. Without a trace is a skill that worked quite remarkably. Horse would have to go invisible,(or stealth if you would prefer that term) and then deal one instance of damage to an opponent. However the catch was this. The person being damaged would not feel the damage until 10 seconds later. So while Horse was explaining this to us, in precisely 10 seconds, Breadtalk went down. The habit she learnt from us was... Well our obsession with penises. Breadtalk went down alright and he went down clutching his little wee wee like it was going to fly off the instant he let go.
Breadtalk's health also went down to 10% in that instant it happened. However, it technically happened 10 seconds ago so her new skill was amazing. I am sure that she also had other skills that she simply did not make us aware of. However, she too was becoming one of us. A student under teachings from a god. It was apparent that her stats were also inflated. She moved around faster than any of us and I could only use teleport to keep up. If she were to fight 1v1 with anyone excluding me and maybe Soup, the fight would be easily decided.
Last but not least, Longbean was unable to get tutelage from a god like us so he went towards a support build. He grinded for levels and raised his defensive skills. He was also my superior in the mana sculpting profession. But not for long. I have been practicing my mana sculpting while practicing the spells so I was soon about to reach master level for mana sculpting as well. Longbean said it took him 2 whole years to get to master level and me achieving it in just one year without trying hard was an insult to him but I really owed him one for teaching me the skill. In my fights now, Manart could deal significant damage and it really just mattered on how creative I get while casting them.
We were in the middle of our classic annual Carnival Wars now. It was a charity round because it was a round robin system format. The top 8 teams would fight against each other for a spot in the finals and we already won 6 rounds. This last round would not affect our position as finalists so it was just a match for the sake of it. Our opponent was also confirmed for elimination so only their pride was at stake and maybe a better placing such as 5th instead of 6th or 7th. Even though we didn't take it seriously, the result was obvious enough.
The average level for this annual Carnival Wars has not changed. There was a level limit of 1500 and 10 players as usual. For this Carnival Wars, because Soup was level 302 and we were already in the 150s, we just played it for fun with the 6 of us, me Breadtalk Beathoven Soup Horse and Longbean. Xantos decided to join though and she was about level 250 then. Our total levels were about 1400 and we had seven members.
Soup charged in alone at the start, facing 5 warriors head on and taking them all at the same time. A fire mage on the opposing team was about to cast a high level spell on Soup when suddenly, a flaming giant appeared out of his fire magic circle and smashed him into bits. Beathoven just used Surtr and made him teleport to the fire magic circle.(OMG SO SMART THAT NERD) Horse went invisible immediately and told us she would be back with the flag. There was no doubt that she would be. Anyone with true sight would be able to see her but even if you can see her I doubt you can kill her. You would be dead first. Breadtalk was busy being Breadtalk, flying on Xantos around in circles, using his exploding spear which could now be used as a pen that could write in midair. He was asking Xantos to circle around the stadium in the shape of.... Yes you can predict it now can't you? A penis. We were just penis obsessed idiots.
I looked at the battlefield. Soup was taking on 5 at once and his HP was down by about a tenth. The rest of the 5 warriors had a tenth of HP left. Oh well. It's Soup after all. And he was busy just using his stupid lycan head. His arms were busy because he was folding stars from strips of paper. Yes while fighting. Seemed like Soup found a girl he liked.
Beathoven was just asking Surtr to jump around the map for fun and facing the fans, summoning explosions everywhere to wow them since the 8000 fans in The Ascension was growing crazy from witnessing the summon of a god class level monster.
Horse was no where to be seen.
Breadtalk was drawing penises in the sky.
I decided that it was about time I stepped into the fight as well. I made a Blastoise (Sorry Pokemon. I used Digimon already so I decided to be fair and use you too.) and made two penises for his cannons poking out from his turtle shell instead of the usual bazookas. I directed the conjured Blastoise out of water mana to lock his aim onto the crowd Soup was fighting. I fired two highly concentrated blasts of water mana from the penises and they slammed into Soup. Normally after my calculations it would do about 5000 damage but looks like manart gave it 7500 damage. 1.5x increase baby! From a Blastoise using Hydro pump from penis cannons! Easy game easy life. However, Soup had high magic resistance in lycan form to water so his health went down only by about 3000. However, the impact was so huge that the 5 warriors around him died immediately.
I proceeded on to use my next skill which I recently learnt from Jörmungandr's book. It was called Terrasense. I used earth mana to directly imbude my mana into the ground. I then dispersed it and stretched it out across the whole map so I could sense anyone who was in contact with the ground. The other team had 10 people and since their 5 front liners and mage were dead, I tried to locate the other 4. I got a huge surprise. I sensed them alright. All of them. Directly behind me when I was in the castle. They were all thieves with invis. Invisibility didn't really use mana so I could not sense them with mana intuition but Terrasense told me their exact locations.
It looked like they were waiting to ambush me because the 4 of them were just 5 meters away from me, scared to come nearer in case I could sense them I suppose. That's where a thought went through my mind. I used my earth mana to quickly make earth walls around them and enclosed them within the walls. They were obviously taken by shock as all of them appeared out of invis for the brief split second of time I had to see before the walls were fully closed. Then, I used another spell, microscopy, to shrink the size of the walls. I then changed the shape of the wall to be circular. I made some markings on the ball, made the earth softer but more dense so it was still hard to break through out of it and I went down to one of the lanes which were made of sand.
I conjured up a makeshift net and we begun to play beach volleyball, using the earth ball as the volleyball and the 4 unfortunate thieves inside the ball who were the size of about macaronis now. Microscopy was an interesting skill. It shrunk people down but their stats remained the same. The skills they could cast were the same and damage inflicted would be the same. However, everything was still relative. They had the same movement speed but because their legs now were so tiny they would be moving alot slower because their strides are about 1/100th the distance it was. For short, your physical abilities still remain the same but your size disability is a real thing. They did not have enough strength to break out of the earth ball which i reinforced and condensed with earth mana so the crowd now was just busy enjoying an epic beach volleyball match between a wolf, a retard on a bird, some invisible player and me. Beathoven and Surtr were the umpires and Longbean was busy sculpting.
After a few nice points, with epic saves and spikes, the ball eventually rolled into a certain spot in the sandy lane. You see the sandy lanes were rigged with landmines and apparently, even though your size changed, your weight didn't so they were still heavy enough to trigger the landmine.
“BOOOOOOOOOM!”
“ANDDDD THE BUNCH OF TARDS ARE YOUR WINNERS FOR THIS ROUND! AS EXPECTED FROM THE FAVOURITES! THEY NOW MOVE INTO THE GRAND FINALS BY AN IMPRESSIVE SCORE OF 7-0!” The emcee announced.
“WOOOOO!” Breadtalk shouted as he streaked.
Horse broke her invis and pulled down Breadtalk's pants to help emphasize his actions but alas Breadtalk chose a bad day to went full commando style. His dick was hanging like a pendulum.
““And Horse does it again!!!!!” An enthusiastic voice screamed into the microphone.
Yup. Poor Breadtalk was clutching his penis, kneeling down butt naked in front of the crowd and camera while Horse's face just look like she rubbed her face all over a pink door which was filled with wet paint. The crowd went “OOOFFFFFFFF” again and truth be told, out of all the shouts the crowd was capable of, I still liked that one the most.
Horse stormed off the platform and we went back to the castle. The final was tomorrow but alas, a surprise was waiting for us. It wouldn't be an easy final. Not in the least.
-Team BALLs (Brotherhood of All Light Legions)-
“By Odin, today was close.”
“Yeah we limited ourselves to 20% of our power but I guess even though we came out 6-1 losing to the BOTs at 20% isn't too bad.”
“Duh. Our task at hand is nigh. Let's show those idiots why Loki isn't known as powerful among the other gods.”
“Wait till they taste my hammer.”
End of Chapter 32

Apocalypse Born
The world as we know it ends in the year 2000. Over the course of a week, billions die and the survivors are faced with a reality that no longer makes sense. Can they fight back against wizards, monsters, and robots in a world where none of the old rules seem to apply, and their only ally is a mysterious heads-up display that reads like a particularly uninterested narrator? Well, that part of the story's mostly done. Hunter, instead of being alive in the age of heroes and martyrs, bravely fighting for the future of his entire planet, is born in 2003. By the time he can walk and talk, humanity has already fought back the worst of its demons and settled into its new status quo. What's an easily bored kid supposed to do in the Midwest when there's all this magic and nothing to do with it?

The Chronicles of Artharian Dagworth
Back in 2020 there were many theories on how the world would end. From the many religions apocalypses, nuclear wars that would leave the planet inhabitable, global warming doing the same, biological weapons getting out of control, viruses mutating into unstoppable diseases to the dead raising to prey on humanity, either due to a virus or just because hell filled up. Also, aliens, from the war mongering kind to the ones so advanced they didn’t see us as more than worms. And of course there was the fail proof theory that the world would end when the sun died. In a bunch of billion years give or take. Althougth some new scientist were discussing if the end would be on the take side, since when the sun started dying things would go haywire on the entire solar system and we would collide with mercury or maybe mars way before the expanding sun engulfed earth. But I digress… Now, those were the mainstream theories that the everyday Joe, who didn’t know the big secret, worried about. So, if you were to ask me which theory was correct I can tell you that I haven’t seen any little green man, at least not from another planet, and so far the sun is still shining, although it’s been only 9 years since everything went to hell, not the few billions (give or take) the scientist predicted, so that one isn’t ruled out yet. These two aside, I'd say all of them. Hey everyone, this is my first attempt at writing. I have been planning to do it for a really long time, and while this is not the one epic fantasy idea I ever wanted to write, I think it's a good one. The plan is to write an end of the world urban-fantasy series. Think a world like Dresden Files, Alex Verus, Iron druid, where magic is real but exist hidden from society meets the apocalypse. It will be written in first person in the Dresden Files style, no plans for other POV for now. As you probally alredy guessed from my style, english is not my first langague, so while google corrector helps, expect grammar errors, and I'd be gratefull for anyone to point them. I plan to write 2 to 3 chapters a week, 2000-4000 words each. Might change as I get more experience and depends on my free time. Cover image from the colections of getwallpapers.com
