Chapter 017 - Lily
By Skalsar
According to "Hivemind" there appear to be people who have been blessed by a deity.
Very strong prey with special skills that have been granted by the deity that blessed them.
There are many deitys.
Apparently the girl was blessed by one.
But I don't really care.
When I think about the message I got, I kind of get what it means.
Heretic To The Goddess Frey: You have been marked as a heretic for capturing a blessed vessel.
The deity which has marked your soul will keep watch over you whenever you travel one of their realms.
Seems like I got her attention. But I don't care about her.
"Hivemind" only told me that stuff like this happens and doesn't mind either.
That is our nature.
Oh, the deity that created the hives was called the [Goddess of Vengeance] by the way.
Her real name was lost.
"Hivemind" remembers only her title.
The other deities destroyed her for something she did.
But being all about vengeance, she created the very first hive with the last of her power.
A weak creature that would get back at the other deities somehow.
But nobody knows how.
The little girl behind me starts crying.
I slap her.
...
It doesn't help. Weird. It helped when she was screaming, I wonder why?
She is making weird noises too.
Well, her body is making the noises.
Maybe it isn't her fault?
Noisy.
Maybe I should just eat her.
Stupid human.
Oh.
She can't live from magic power?
"Hivemind" says humans have to eat flesh and plants.
Maybe she is crying because of hunger?
I already cut some humans apart and "Hivemind" ate quite a few of them.
Therefore we know how the human body works for most part.
But the connection between their voices and noises, and stuff like hunger, that is new.

'[Hiveworker], bring a Rabbit please.'
It takes a bit of time, but my [Hiveworker] delivers.
One could think that it would be hard for a [Hiveworker] to catch a rabbit, but not for this one.
Because he was a [Horn Rabbit] himself before I recreated him, he knows exactly what to do.
Might be weird to hunt a rabbit after having been a rabbit. But it's the cores nature.
After being reborn as a creature, useless emotions are cut down.
We are creatures of this hive. We devour.
That's all there should be to it.
If we are weak, we die.
But the girl is still crying.
I threw her the rabbit, but she only stares at it, crying.
Is she not able yet to eat by herself?
Maybe she is too young?
Should I get an older human?
'Humans normally don't eat their food alive. They kill it and prepare it with heat.
I believe she doesn't know how to eat something raw.'
[Hiveworker] might be right.
'Well, guess I will kill it first then.', I explain and step near.
The girl stares at me terrified for a moment and grabs the rabbit.
I don't really get why.
She seems to think that by doing so, the rabbit is safe?
But who in his right mind would believe that something is safe just by holding it?
I grab the head of the rabbit with my left hand and squeeze it.
It's crushed easily.
She stopped crying and is staring at me quietly.
I believe, terrified, would be the right word.
That's surprising. I should have done that sooner.
Looks like this is a better way to stop her noises.
But quite wasteful if she isn't going to eat.
I call for a [Blazing Hellhound]. A friend of mine. It got a consciousness too.

While drawing near, the girl looks scared even more and seems to be leaking.
The [Blazing Hellhound] is 2.5 meters in height, with blue flames erupting from its fur.
It could crush a body with one bite of its strong jaw.
I take the dead rabbit and get rid of some useless stuff.
[Hiveworker] says, humans can't eat everything.
Living in the settlement for a few weeks before escaping, he learned quite a few things.
So I take some of the stuff out, like the heart.
[Blazing Hellhound] eats that.
The girl is calming down a bit.
Afterwards, I let [Blazing Hellhound] roast the rabbit flesh and throw it to the girl again.
This time, she starts eating and afterwards..
She slowly points at herself and uses her voice. >Lily.
Weird human.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
>We have to find her as fast as possible.>But where could she have gone?>It must have been bandits!>Killing off her bodyguards like that? Did you even see their bodies?>It looked like a monster slaughtered them.>Sure, a monster. If you ask me, that's what they wanted it to look like.>But what else could it be?>I bet it was another lord. A high level [Knight] could have done that.>Might be.
The village was in uproar after the girl was kidnapped.
Her two bodyguards were [Guards] too.
It's unthinkable to kill them off just like that, without being high level.
Rego had goosebumps thinking about the bodies.
>Orcs.
The room went silent.
Twelve men looked shocked because of one word.
>That..
>I know, they are stupid and don't act much, but if an [Orc Shaman] or [Orc Warlord] ordered them, it might be possible. We all know how strong they are.
We only won the war because of numbers and weapons.
>True..
Orcs are terrifying.
Monsters with great strength and endurance.
If they want to fight, they do.
We aren't speaking about fat animals or monsters who simply attack everything without tactic.
Orcs are muscular humanoid monsters. More like vikings.
But green. And with an average height of 2.5 meters.
Every day they train to fight and how to win fights in every situation possible.
The [Orc Warlord] is the strongest warrior in an orc tribe and the evolved form of an [Orc Warrior].
An [Orc Shaman] is an evolved orc with the highest intelligence in a clan and the ability to use elemental magic.
>A clan was spotted just two days away from the village.
Maybe they really did it.>But for what purpose?>Maybe they want to provoke us.
>It doesn't matter. Send the scouts. If they took my girl, I will kill every last one of them.
Everyone turned their head when the voice was heard.
The [Local Lord] had joined them.
>If they took Lily, they will pay for it.
I already spoke with the king.
He is sending an attack force.
With that said, the meeting was dismissed.
>We won't tolerate orcs on this lands.
He really was angry.

Rekindle
My Newest, and at the same time, Oldest novel. This is a Rewrite of my very first novel that I begun when I was just starting out. It follows the story of Mark Floyd, a broken man who once tried to do what he thought was right... only to be stabbed in the back and thrown away. Now, pulled into a conflict that spans time and space, Mark has a choice to make; Stand up once more, even if it means facing an unknowable future, or let the Embers of his heart die and sink back into darkness. ----------------------------------- “For gold is tried in the fire, and acceptable men in the furnace of adversity”. Once part of a Special Ops team in the US Army, Mark Floyd thought he had seen the worst that Humanity had to offer. That was until his final mission, one that would leave him a broken and shattered man, betrayed by the Country he served, and abandoned by society as a whole. His dreams filled with nightmares of the ones he failed to protect, mind and memories clouded by booze and more, Mark finds himself stumbling through life without purpose or desire. Life isn't done with Mark yet, however. For as long as even a single ember remains in a persons heart, here is still yet hope for the flames of Passion and Hope to be Rekindled. When the dying embers of Mark's heart catches the eyes of a Being far beyond his understanding, Mark finds himself thrown into a situation not even his years of training could prepare him for. Will this new chance be Mark's hope at both Redemption and Recompense? Or will it simply be the final nail in the coffin for a man already dead to the World? [This is a rework of my very first story. The general story will remain the same, however a few details have been tweaked, the chapters have be Edited better and some chapters have been broken down into smaller chunks for better flow and consistency. The biggest change will be to the System itself; It will be a lot less "Game-like", meaning no stats, levels or similar aspect, though skills will still be present in the form of "Programs". Instead, It'll focus more on the Sigil's nature as super-computers and how they change the world around them. This should make for a much more "natural" and less info-dumpy system.
