《The Wonders of Fall; A Modern Zelink AU Story》The Invitation (4)

As usual, Tetra left Link and Aryll's house at 9:00.

Ever since Link learned that it was Zelda who was driving Tetra to and from his house every day for some reason astonished him. If it were him, he wouldn't be very willing to drive his sibling to and from a friend's house every single weekday.

It was another good example for him, he could be more willing to do more for his sister Aryll.

I mean-her parents could be making her because their busy that time of day right? And Zelda probably has classes too, she's probably as busy as I am.

Link had reoccurring thoughts about how much he was starting to admire Zelda's endurance after a long period of time of driving an annoying twelve year old to his house every day. At work he told himself that he was going to thank her for driving Tetra to meet up with her friend because it was really nice of her.

Though he had been working on homework when Tetra came over that day at 5:30. He looked at his watch and realized that he must have missed Zelda and she had probably already driven home.

Not optimistically he went to the front window and peeked outside.

There was a car parked on the side of the road by his house, and it looked just like the one Zelda had climbed into the day before. I wonder why she hasn't left yet...

Link figured that she was probably on her phone her something and would leave soon after. But still he was curious, and he didn't go outside yet to thank her. Instead he waited until 7:00 to look out again.

She was still there.

Confused Link scratched his head. Now what was the explanation of why she hadn't left yet. He had always assumed that Tetra's driver had gone back to their house before picking her up. Did she honestly stay parked by his house for three and a half hours every day until it was time for Tetra to come home?

Hold on a second, Tetra has always just left the house at 9:00, nobody comes at knocks on the door. So she just goes out there because she knows Zelda is parked and then they leave.

Why?

Well there was no better way of finding out then asking for himself. He was a little concerned for Zelda, but he just wanted to know the reason why she had been doing this. Without a deep breath he opened his front door and walked outside.

_^_

Zelda smiled at her book she was holding open in her hands. Finally! The two main characters shared their first kiss! Oh my goodness the author sure has a wonderful way of displaying love. I hope this is what it's like.

She heard a soft rap on the passenger side window and Zelda looked over to see Link outside her car.

"WHAAAAAA-!?"

Red in the face she took a big gulp of air before slowly lowering the window, what is he doing outside my car?

"Uh...hi Zelda," Link greeted looking extremely unsure of himself.

Zelda? He knows my name...Aryll must have told him. Did he go asking about me?

Still red in the face Zelda responded, "hello L-Lenk. I-I mean Link!"

He continued to scratch the back of his head as he looked around her car, "why are you still parked by my house? Don't you go home after dropping Tetra off?"

Zelda started sweating, "well I uh...it's a rather long trip so I just...read in my car and wait for her to come back out."

"Oh..." he looked surprised, "I always thought that her driver would go home before picking her up."

Zelda gave a cute little shrug, "um...nope."

"Well if it's a long trip then why don't you come inside and read there?"

"Huh?" Zelda froze as she stared at him, he was going to invite her to read inside his house?

"I mean-if you want," Link said backing a little away from the car, "the door is unlocked so you can come in. Every day if you want." He walked back inside his house.

Zelda stared at the door where he had just disappeared. He was so...sweet. And so nice. How could she refuse?

She bravely marked her spot in her book and walked into the house after Link.

She sat down on his comfy couch and gave out a long happy sigh, Link was so sweet.

Well if it's a long trip then why don't you come inside and read there?

"Awwww..." Zelda said happily and involuntary.

"Hey sis!"

"WOAH-!?"

Zelda's book went flying through the air in surprise and Zelda jumped as if a bat had just flown right in front of her face.

"What's with people scaring me today?" Zelda asked herself as she picked up her book, "what are you doing Tet?"

"Who else scared you Zelda?" Aryll asked from behind the couch.

"WHAAA-!?"

The book flew through the air again and landed on the floor.

"Sorry I didn't mean to scare you," Aryll apologized.

"It's okay," Zelda said, her heart beating fast as she picked up her book again, "now why are you guys surrounding me?"

"We couldn't help but notice that you were reading inside instead of in your car," Tetra observed.

"Did my brother invite you in?" Aryll asked climbing over the couch.

Zelda's face glimmered a slight shade of red, "um...yes he did."

"Awww my brother is just soooooo nice to people," Aryll said happily, "did you thank him?"

"Uh...no?"

"HOW RUDE!" Tetra yelled in Zelda's face, "he invited you to read inside this well-heated and spacious house and you don't even thank him?!"

"He walked away before I could, chill out," Zelda said annoyed, "now do you two mind? I'm trying to read a book."

"A stupid romance," Tetra said rolling her eyes.

"IT'S NOT STUPID!"

"Is everything okay?"

The three girls froze and looked over to the hall. Link was standing by the wall looking at them concerned, "I heard raised voices."

"Everything is fine big brother!" Aryll said patting Zelda on the shoulder, "we were just talking about you!"

"Huh?!" Zelda freaked whipping her head to glare at Aryll.

"Uh huh sure," Link said rolling his eyes similarly to Tetra, "just don't break anything please."

Link walked out of the hall and Zelda stared at the place where he had once stood.

He just...thinks of me as another annoying guest?

Zelda gave a little groan, I hope I'm not causing him stress of any sort. I don't want to be a nuisance.

"Don't worry we won't break anything big brother!" Aryll called after him.

"Good," Link responded. Zelda could hear him walking up the stairs.

"Can you guys just leave me alone?" Zelda asked pushing them away, "I honestly need to have peace right now."

Tetra and Aryll looked at each other and sighed, "okay we will." They left the living room and finally Zelda could think without distraction.

The home wasn't as decorated as much as Zelda pictured it. She would have thought that parents who had raised a bright girl such as Aryll would have a brighter house.

Hang on...their parents?

Where were they? Zelda didn't want to walk around the house uninvited but she did want to meet them, she never had before.

She knew that if anybody were to visit her house her parents would be right there at the door to greet them, the both of them. But surely not all households were like her own. Still, it was a little strange.

Zelda sat back on the couch deep in thought. She thought that she could feel that there was some untold secret about either this house or this family. Maybe someday she would find out.
