《Karma (super smash bros)》04| Early Morning Intruder

Zelda woke to sunshine seeping through her blinds. There was nothing better than sleeping in on the weekends.
It took her a second before she realized that she was using a firm chest as a pillow instead of her usual feather stuffed one. Had Ike slept over last night?
She sat up, just about to give him a good morning peck when she saw that it wasn't Ike at all. She let out a small yelp and immediately scrambled backwards.
She was in such a rush that she actually fell off the bed with a loud thud. "Ouch." She muttered under her breath.
The stranger sat up in her bed. "Why are you on the floor?" He asked, stretching his arms and yawning. She stood up quickly, suddenly remembering what had happened last night.
It wasn't a stranger in her bed, it was just Link. Still though, she had just met the boy last night and he had slept in her bed? They didn't do anything last night did they?
"Uhh. You scared me that's all. I didn't know you slept here. In my bed." Zelda answered finally.
"Oh yeah," Link rubbed his neck sheepishly, "I was about to leave last night when you asked me to stay so I got in bed with you and you kind of fell asleep on top of me. I didn't want to wake you and then I fell asleep too and yeah.."
"Well, you should probably go now. I'm not sure if my parents saw your truck last night or not, but the sooner you're gone the better." Zelda ordered promptly.
"Wow, I slept with you last night and you're not even going to offer some breakfast? Talk about queen of one night stands." Link said sarcastically.
Zelda rolled her eyes. "We did not sleep together last night. And don't even think about telling people that."
"Hate to burst your bubble, but technically we did." Link replied with a teasing wink.
"If I make you breakfast will you shut up about it?" Zelda sighed, crossing her arms.
Link nodded eagerly. "Now that's more like it."
Zelda led the hungry boy downstairs and into the kitchen. Luckily it seemed that neither of her parents were home. She wasn't even sure if they'd come home last night at all.
"What do you want?" She asked him, leaning casually against the counter.
"Well, I do know how to make some pretty darn good waffles if you want to fry some bacon and maybe cut some fruit?" He suggested.
"Alright, deal." Zelda agreed.
She got all of the ingredients that he asked for out for him to make his special waffle batter and plugged in the waffle iron to start heating up.
Then she grabbed a package of raw bacon from the fridge and put them in a frying pan on the stove.
While the bacon was frying she set to work on cutting up strawberries and bananas. The cut up fruit was divided into two small bowls which she added blueberries and raspberries to.
The bacon had finished and was cooling on a plate by the time Link finished up with the waffles. He had made six fairly large waffles, so they could each have three.
He set the dining room table for two while she grabbed butter, maple syrup, peanut butter, and her favorite raspberry jam as topping options for the waffles.

The meal was complete with two glasses of milk.
"We make a pretty good team. Don't you think, Chef Zelda?" Link said, smiling down proudly on the feast.
"I would have to agree, Chef Link. We did a fine job this morning." She replied, taking a seat at the table. Link sat in the chair next to her and they both began to fill their plates up with the laid out meal.
Zelda topped her waffles with some raspberry jam while Link buttered his and practically drowned them in syrup.
About halfway through the meal, Zelda heard a buzzing sound from somewhere upstairs. "I think my phone's ringing." She said, standing from the table.
"Grab mine while you're up there, will ya?" Link called after her as she dashed up the stairs and to her room.
She grabbed her phone off her nightstand only to see Peach's Caller ID.
"Hello." She answered while searching the bed covers for Link's phone.
"Zel!! Finally you answer. This is like my sixth call." Peach said frantically into the phone.
"Sorry, I was downstairs eating breakfast and I left my phone in my room." She replied, snatching Link's phone off the bed and heading back downstairs.
"Well I'm soooo sorry about last night. I know we were supposed to have a sleepover, but then I got drunk and next thing I know I'm waking up at Snake's house." Peach rambled quickly.
"It's okay." Zelda assured her best friend. "Wait...did you and Snake..?"
"Yes Zelda. We did. And I'm definitely not proud of it, but it was actually a really good night...or the pieces that I can remember." Peach answered.
"Well there's a lot I have to tell you too." Zelda said, handing Link's phone to him and sitting down at the table.
"Okay. I'll be over soon. Tell me all about it then." Peach replied, Zelda could faintly hear a male's voice in the background.
Zelda was just about to reply when her phone started beeping, signaling she was getting another call.
"Someone's calling me so I'll see you here later. Bye." Zelda told Peach, barely giving her time to say goodbye before she switched to the other call.
"Hello." She answered.
"Zel, we need to talk. Please meet me today." Ike's deep voice rang out. Zelda quickly pulled the phone from her ear to check the Caller ID. It was a random number.
"Who's phone are you using?" She asked irritably.
"Look, that's not important. I'm coming over. Please answer the door when I do." He begged.
Zelda felt tears come to her eyes, but she blinked them away quickly. She could feel Link's eyes on her and she didn't want to cry in front of him again.
"No. What you did was unforgivable. We're over..." Before he could reply she quickly ended the call.
"Was that Ike?" Link asked quietly after a long minute of silence. Zelda nodded her head slightly. "What did he want?" He asked gently.
Zelda took a deep breath. "He wanted to come over and work things out, but I told him no of course. There's nothing he can do to convince me to get back with him."
Link nodded his head. "I'm sorry, Zelda. You deserve a lot better. Now finish your waffles." He demanded teasingly.

A small smile tugged at her lips as she resumed eating. They were just loading their dishes into the dishwasher and wiping down the counters when a loud knock sounded on the door.
"That's either Peach...or Ike." Zelda whispered, looking in the direction of the front door with fear.
The loud pounding rang out again. "I'm guessing it's Ike." Link whispered quietly.
They both tip-toed to the door as quietly as possible. Zelda peeked through the peep hole in the door and quickly scurried away when she saw who stood on the other side.
"Ike." She mouthed back silently to Link.
"I figured." He mouthed back.
They both stood in silence, hoping the boy would go away.
"ZELDA. I KNOW YOU'RE IN THERE. WHO'S TRUCK IS THIS?!!" Ike yelled from her porch, he sounded furious.
Link and Zelda shared a look, an expression of "oh crap" evident on their faces.
Things seemed to get worse when Zelda suddenly heard Peach's voice outside.
"Hey Ike. Zelda didn't mention you were coming over today." Peach's high voice rang out on the porch.
"Oh. Well I think she might be in the shower or something. She isn't answering the door." Ike's deep voice replied calmly.
"Don't worry, I know where the spare key is." Peach replied.
"Shit." Zelda muttered. She quickly gestured for Link to run upstairs and hide, while she ran to the kitchen to act natural.
She heard the door open and two pairs of footsteps entering the house.
Soon the faces of her best friend and ex boyfriend entered the kitchen.
"Hey Zel." Peach greeted, texting someone back on her phone and taking a seat at the counter.
"What are you doing here." Zelda said coldly, giving Ike a hard stare. Peach looked between the two with a very puzzled expression.
"Who's truck is that?" Ike demanded, his voice barely below a yell.
"That's none of your business."
"Answer the damn question." Ike seethed, his fists clenching and unclenching at his sides.
"I don't want to see you Ike, now leave. Please." She meant to sound stern, but her voice gave way slightly. She sounded more like a desperate child begging her parents for ice cream.
"Zelda, we just need to talk things out, okay baby? You're being irrational. Don't throw away 10 months over something as stupid as one drunk night." Ike replied, his voice softening slightly.
"I didn't throw anything away. You did that yourself when you decided to have sex with Samus Aran." Zelda spat, a sudden burst of anger bubbling inside her gut.
Peach let out a large gasp, unable to stay out of the conversation any longer. "You had sex with Samus Aran?"
Ike disregarded her completely. "Maybe I wouldn't have to have sex with Samus Aran if my girlfriend wasn't such a conservative prude."
"Ex girlfriend." Zelda corrected coldly. "You didn't have to have sex with anyone. You just can't seem to keep it in your pants can you? You're more impulsive than an animal."
Ike opened his mouth to respond when a loud buzzing interrupted him. Everyone's heads snapped to the dining room table where a phone was vibrating loudly.
Link's phone.
Ike's face turned beet red.
"Where is the little prick?" Ike demanded as he stormed out of the room.
"Ike! Stop!" Zelda yelled as she ran after the enraged boy. Peach followed behind, curious to see what would happened and wondering who the phone belonged to.
Ike stormed straight up the stairs and practically ripped Zelda's door right off the hinges as he threw it open.
Link was sitting calmly on the bed with his arms crossed.
"Hello." He greeted.
"Who do you think you are?! And why are you in my girlfriend's room?!" Ike roared, he stepped toward Link, looking murderous.
Zelda darted across the room to Link's side. "Ex girlfriend." She said again, glaring at Ike.
"My name is Link. And you are...?" Link replied, still as calm as the eye of a hurricane.
"I think you know very damn well who I am, and if you know what's good for you, you better scram." Ike replied, leaning close to Link's face.
Link leaned in a little closer, not willing to back down. "I didn't catch a name?"
Ike raised his fist as if about to throw a punch, but Zelda quickly grabbed his arm. It was no use, he threw her off easily. Before she could even get up, his fist had collided with Link's jaw.
Link's calm demeanor completely disappeared as he shot off the bed and rammed right into Ike, shoving him harshly into the wall.
Ike pushed Link off of him and was preparing another punch when Zelda screamed at the top of her lungs.
"ENOUGH!" She yelled when both of the boys looked at her. "If you don't leave right now I'm going to call the cops." She threatened, holding her phone up for emphasis.
Ike put down his arm reluctantly.
"We're over Ike. There's nobody to blame, but yourself and your own actions. Now leave, please."
Ike sighed. "I'm going to win you back, I swear it." He muttered before storming from the room. Zelda watched out the window as she saw him climb into his jeep and peel out of the driveway.
"I'm sorry Zel, when I let him in I had no idea you guys broke up." Peach apologized quickly.
"It's okay, you didn't know." Zelda assured her friend quietly. "C'mon, let's get some ice on that." She added, looking toward Link.
They headed back downstairs where she filled a bag with ice from the freezer and handed it to him to hold on his face.
"I'm so sorry." She apologized.
"Ah, it's alright." Link assured the worried blonde. "Nothing I can't handle." He tried to smirk, but winced slightly instead.
He grabbed his phone and saw the missed call.
"It was my grandma, I better get going." He said, standing.
"Okay." Zelda agreed with a nod.
"Here." He said, taking her phone from her hands. "Text me if you need anything." He added his number to her contacts then handed it back to her.
She walked him to the front door. "Thanks again for last night." She called after him as he made his way down the porch stairs.
"Yep!" He called back. She watched as his green truck drove off down her street and out of sight.
"Looks like you have a lot of explaining to do." Peach said once Zelda shut the door and turned back around.
"Yes, yes I do."
