There's no way. He can't be missing. I saw him this morning! He was fine! Everything was okay. This can't be real. It isn't real. He's fine. He's fine....
I look towards the scene, and wipe my tear's. Marching towards the lady. The cops noticing me, trying to hold me back.
"WHY WEREN'T YOU WATCHING OVER HIM?! why'd you fell asleep? When he was literally outside, on his own!!" I yelled, tearing up even more.
"Who even are you....?" She ask's, glaring at me.
"I'm his friend!! I'm the one who was actually here for your kid! Here whenever he was in trouble! The one who took care of him!" She laughs,
"The one who took care of him?! HAH! No that was me. I was the one who worked a lot, just to provide for him!"
"You sound just like my dad. Always saying 'I work hard for you kid's. To provide for all of you'. Were you really working hard to provide for him? Or only worked hard just to be able to buy beers?" I spat,
"And look at you? Pretending that you're actually upset for your son being missing. You probably didn't even knew he existed!" I yell,
"You...." She say's, walking towards me.
"Oh you wanna do this? Okay. Hold me back!" I tell the cop's, walking towards her.
"Enough!!" The cop say's.
"Sir! He went missing not so long ago! If we search now, we can find him!"
"I know. We'll send a search party to look for him. But for now, we need everyone to go home. It's not safe."
"I can h-"
"Go. Home. Kid." I sigh, and nod. Pedaling back home. I make it back, and walk inside. Dad notices me, and gets up.

"WHERE WERE YOU?"
"BE QUEIT! I'm not in the mood to deal with you." I reply, walking to Finn and Gwen.
"Holy shoot, Y/N. You heard about the missing kid? It's all over the news." Gwen say's. I nod, sitting down.
"You alright? Look's like you were crying," Finn say's, worried.
"That was my friend I told you about. Griffin." I reply,
"Holy shit. That was him??" Finn whisper's, I nod.
"Y/N, I'm so sorry. I didn't know."
"Sorry won't fix anything." I say. We all just sit there, in silence. I look at the TV, and see them showing a picture of That's when I lost it. I cover my mouth, and begin to cry.
"Holy shit, Y/N! Alright, enough TV. Let's go to your room. So you can get some rest." Finn say's, taking me to my room. Laying me down.
"I'll stay here with you, if you want. Try to get some sleep." I nod, and close my eyes.
I was sitting down outside, reading the book's Y/N got me. I already finished 2 book's! I smiled, and closed the book. I looked up, and saw the bullies. I sighed, and got up. Waiting.
They looked at me terrified, and ran away. Leaving me confused. Okay??
I picked up the book's, and looked at the window. Seeing mom taking a nap. I should go inside and take a nap, for a bit too. I then looked at my bike, and smiled.
I put the book's down, and ran towards my bike. Picking it up, getting on. I began to start pedaling in circles, on the road. I saw a boy with black hair, and a green shirt riding their bike too.
They noticed me, and waved. I waved back, and kept pedaling.

I looked up, and saw a black van parking. I got confused, but ignored it. I then see a man with weird looking clothes walking up to me.
"Hey, kid. Wanna see a magic trick?" They ask, I shake my head.
"C'mon, kid. Just one?"
"No, Thank you!" I reply, looking around to see if Y/N was anywhere around. I look back, and see the man running towards me. I gasp, and began to pedal away from the man. He catches up to me, causing me to fall off my bike. I yell, getting dragged to the van.
"Y/N! Help-" I yell, being cut off by the man spraying something in my mouth. I feel myself get sleepy, trying hard to stay awake.
I couldn't, and all I saw now was
I got up, and saw that Finney was no longer there. I got up, and began to get ready for school. I picked out my outfit, and changed.
😅
I walked to the kitchen, and saw that Finney made breakfast. I sat down, and began to eat. Everything seeming awkward.
"You alright, Y/N?" Finn ask's,
"I don't wanna go to school." I say,
"I know. But it's Friday! So, that's something? You woke up late, so you have to walk with us today." I nodded, and finished my meal.
"Alright, let's go."
••••
We made it to the school building, everyone talking about the missing kid.
"That's the first person that ever went missing!"
"I didn't even know that kid till now."
"He's probably already gone!"
I shake my head, and immediately go to my locker. I grab my stuff, and see Robin walk up to me.
"Hey, you alright?" He ask's, worried.
"Eh. I just feel off sense, y'know? Because of The Missing Kid." I reply, he nods.
"Ya, same. Don't worry about it, though. I won't let nothing happen to you. You're safe." He reassures, making me smile.
"Thanks, Robin. Like, for everything."
"Of course, I gotchu. You're safe under my protection."
"Thank you, again. Well, we should get to class." I say,
"Right." He says, smiling. I give him a quick hug. And run to class, smiling.

Also available on Audible! After centuries of endless wars, the three greatest nations of the continent have come together in peace. As a symbol of their cooperation, they have worked together to establish the Grand Academy of Spiritual, Martial, and Arcane Arts, a place where the best and brightest of each nation can gather on neutral ground and share knowledge, techniques, and cultures. Can the peace truly last, or is the academy just another proxy for the constant conflicts the three nations face? None of that matters to Lee Jia, a homeless young girl who's biggest concern is surviving the winter. But when she accidentally stumbles into the academy in search of a new place to stay, her destiny is changed forever. Determined to carve out a new place for herself and make the most of her good fortune, Lee Jia dives head first into the world of magic and martial arts. Fates Parallel is my first serious attempt at writing a story, and a personal love letter to Eastern fantasy and xianxia stories. It's heavily inspired by East Asian culture, folklore, and mythology, with what is likely going to be a decidedly Western artistic license. I try to write every day, with a goal of about 45,000 words per month (~1500 per day). Chapter lengths are around 3000 words on average, releasing on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Cover art drawn by the incredibly talented Tsuu (TsurotArtistry).

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
