《The Royal Explorer (Completed)》Chapter 16

Jerks, jumps and screeches.
I had come from a time where we had cemented roads and robot cars that drive effortlessly without sudden breaks and halts. But now I was on an undeveloped road, riding on animal that I can't even control.
God Bless Me
After making like about 500 stops in the midway, the distance that was about to get covered by the afternoon, it took us the whole of evening. And I am the one to be held responsible for this.
I had them make several halts just because I wanted to puke my guts out. I hadn't even eaten anything much, I don't know what my body had to throw up.
---
The palace wasn't that huge as compared to the King's headquarters. Yet it was mighty.
It wasn't as deserted as I had expected it to be. Although more than royal men there were royal guards and servants.
I was walking ahead in the group of members accompanying me as if I was the tour guide here
I turned back to see both the Royal Men: Yug and Neel stand behind at least 25 steps away from me.
"walk in" I was confused, why weren't they entering.
Yug 'head directed' me to come and stand next to him. I rushed as I obeyed.
A while later I saw a female, a pretty young female, come out of the entrance.
Another royal member, is she?
With plate in her hands and few other items on the plate like the flowers, and ancient candle, she welcomed the King.
And all of us.
I looked in amazement. This was interesting.
But who was she?
After that 'royal' welcome, we started walking towards the palace, me walking behind this time.
"Who is she" I whispered to Yug, holding him back with his sleeves, while the King moved ahead.
"That girl along with the king. The one you were smiling at." I smirked. I had never seen Yug smile at anyone else, except for me.
"uh..um." if I was not wrong, I did see him blush. I was waiting. "She is Your Majesty's step sister." He informed.

I contained my smile to myself. My senses alert. I didn't know how she would be like. I hoped she was nothing like her mother.
God, give me a vacation.
"She is beautiful" I said, despite the fact that I knew I cannot trust her.
"She is." Yug looked in the direction of her, where she was walking with the king through the long corridor. Smiling again, and I wish I could show him the mirror, I would explain him rosy cheeks.
I decided to keep it to myself for now. The fact that I could see Yug having a liking for her.
"This is my sister, Aarini." Neel introduced us, anyway.
We were standing in the very empty, very huge hall. The vibes were similar to the Royal Court that we have in the 'Headquarter palace.'
I am sorry, I don't know how else to address it.
I bowed down to her, controlling my very instinct to extend and shake hands with her.
She mirrored.
"And she..." the King stopped to search for a better word to address me, other than 'a patient on loose'. "She is Jiera. My guest." His words struggled their way out of his mouth.
Naturally, given that he wouldn't be someone who would lie.
"Nice to meet you." Aarini spoke politely.
I have a good feeling about it so far.
Yug was standing behind me, I was aware. And I swear, I saw Aarini steal a glance at him, and then immediately looked at the floor.
She saw me noting her show.
And I promise I did not want to embarrass her, but I was enjoying the thrill of a traditional romance.
These oldies were way too cute.
"Show me my room." I decided to change the subject of the little non verbal communication we seemed to have.
---
So far she was a good person to talk to. No evil vibes. So I guess I'll go with 'The Neel Approach'.
I decided to trust her. Of course, I wasn't trusting her. I was trusting Yug's choice.

The way king did not trust me, but had trust the old doctor.
She was talking about everything. How much she loved people being here, because maximum time of the year, she stays alone. How she spends her day, taking care of her dad, the former king. How she waits for her brother to visit her. How she likes anyone coming here, with the tiniest of news from the Royal household. She also knew, about me; that someone, very weird has joined the royal family and also eats with the gents.
She said she was excited to meet me, ever since she has learnt about my existence.
She spoke about everything, and I was enjoying it. Mentally taking notes even.
But more than that, I was waiting for her to talk about Yug. But when she did not do it, so I decided to bring him in myself.
I am a part time cupid, did you know?
"So how long have you known Minister Yug." If I were to describe it, I would call it a rainbow of expressions on her face. From being taken off guard- to embarrassment and confusion and then being shy.
I was sure, it wasn't my illusion. Something's cooking here.
So I had decided to be the best wing woman for my friend. I have done that for Mayan and Ela a number of times, so it wasn't difficult. Especially in an era where people are that simple.
Really.
At least they aren't all calculative as compared to us, when it comes to relationships. They have genuine relationships while we are all good at games.
Behead me if I am wrong.
"It has been around 2 years." I heard her low voice. "Ever since he has been the minister, he has been coming here for some administrative reasons or the other"
I was enjoying it. I mean what a bored person needs more than interesting gossips and stories from someone else's life. I have always loathed people like those. But it looks like I am being one of them.
Romance is my favorite genre for now because loving history didn't serve me much.
Her responses regarding Yug were very subtle. None enough to convince herself, that she liked him. So I decided to throw the ultimate card.
Jealousy.
No one has ever been able to see their way out of it.
"I know." I agreed to God knows whatever she was speaking. I had to direct the route of the conversation to my benefit.
Come on.
This is going to be the ultimate experiment. If the results are positive, I am swearing on that time machine that is bound to take me back, I will get Yug his girlfriend.
"I agree, Yug has forever been helpful. I can't thank him enough."
What did Yug say about using his name. 'Don't use, cause it becomes personal.'
That explained the look on her face.
I don't think I am going to stop anytime soon. I am enjoying this.
"Yug?" she questioned. Her eyebrows raised, leaning ahead to hear me well, the same way that Yug does.
"Yes! He is the only one who made me comfortable in that huge unknown palace." I continued.
"I left the palace to come here, just because he was coming. I cannot live without him." Thank you Bollywood. I have some dialogues learnt by heart.
Her face dropped at this. I can see my experiment success.
"You should rest." She got up to leave from my room.
I did feel bad, I won't lie.
But if I am the one who could see the spark, I should help right. And from whatever I have learnt all these days is – talking to them directly about it, is absolutely useless. They have a lot of rules to follow.

For a fortunate few, the strange world of the Infinite Labyrinth offers opportunities, strange descriptors popping in their minds, informing them of growth, and status beyond that of a mere mortal. The materials and power crystal they bring back foster a new age, both military and civilian. Aether-powered Skyships prowl the skies, as all the great nations blessed by the Gates try to turn the blessings of the Labyrinth into immediate advantages. But for Jonas, an apprentice leatherworker, his friend Ira, and so many Londoners, the fabled ones that walk the Labyrinth are distant heroes, seen from afar. They fell short when their Potential was measured, and they fill their mundane lives with distant dreams. One man wants to break the stalemate. The Tyrant of the Dominion of France, Napoleon Bonaparte, has a plan. Eighteen years after the world changed, he will force it to change again. And when civilians are caught in the fallout, the unthinkable happens. Six people, unqualified, forbidden to ever enter the Labyrinth, find themselves stranded in a distant zone, forcefully turned into Professionals. They know little of what that means, but they have to figure out the rules that are now their lot, for they have little hope to escape their predicament otherwise. They need to understand what the descriptors in their minds mean, what each of the strange piece of gear waiting in treasure chests behind terrible guardians can bring them. They have to become Professionals on their own and rejoin the Empire. They will figure out their new lives one way or another. But will there be an Empire waiting for them when the Gates re-open? Caught in a clash of empires and high tiers, they will do what little they can. They will step up and do their best. One way or another. The Infinite Labyrinth is a slice-of-life litRPG adventure set in a real historical setting. It's a hard, crunchy litrpg. Expect blue boxes everywhere, and the system itself is very mathy. It started life as a serial. I prepared some proper worldbuilding, with enough details and background for lots of different potential story arcs, but as I wrote, I realized the main story needs to have a definitive end. So, there are four books in total, for a bit under 1500 pages, plus additional side stories, and even maybe a sequel one day. The Gore tag was added as a precaution because there are a few scenes with some light gore.
