《The Royal Explorer (Completed)》Chapter 9

I woke up with a loud knock on my door. It must have been there for a while. It reciprocated like a bangs on my head in my dreams, until I realized there was someone actually on the door. It was 5 on my Q tab.
I had hardly slept for 1 hour after that little coffee date of mine.
The room was already lit brightly, which means that the sun was already there.
I reluctantly got up and dragged myself to the door rubbing my eyes to wake myself up. I opened the door to find the same maid from the day before standing there. Her attitude was the same as yesterday.
Her eyes fixated on the floor, her head down, standing there like a docile individual.
"yes ?" I asked her, standing at a distance scared that my stale breath would embarrass me.
Although I have been embarrassed enough in less than one day.
"you are called by the king downstairs to join everyone for the breakfast. Please get ready" she said and offered me a plate that had something covered in a cloth.
"the king wants you to wear this and come down." my face lit up at the first gift I received here, that too from the king himself.
"really? What did he say?" I was grateful at this gesture of his.
The maid hesitated and did not say anything.
"ha?" I asked again.
"he said, 'ask her wear proper clothes and come down.' " the servant finally spoke. My jaw dropped at his response.
He better did not say this.
But again what could I do, even if he did. Not like I could go and punch him. I chuckled at my own thoughts. I really did not need a company, I could keep myself entertained.
I took the plate from the servant's hand. "thank you." I bowed down to her.
I was adjusting well.
"uh- also." She said again as I was about to close the door back. "Your Majesty has asked me to be your personal attendant from now on." Oh a PA. I was enjoying the privilege of the royal life.

I did not dislike the woman, she appeared fine to me. So there was no reason I would deny it . "" I guess she understood it. She bowed down at me.
"so what's your name?" I asked her.
"Brinda" she spoke meekly.
" Brinda. I will address you as and you don't have to be very formal with me. You can atleast look at me while talking. Mm?" she looked down and nodded.
I laughed at this.
" I said and it immediately followed a confused glance from my new PA.
"nothing." I nodded and closed the door.
I managed to have bath with some other items that Brinda had got for me and some items that I managed to download from the Q cart in her absence.
I knew I had to keep it protected because even though it was a regular thing for me, it was like a gold mine for people over here. And I can't trust this thing of 'not getting robbed' here. I mean with all the servants and people around, who knows. Perhaps I have studied the history of this place.
I know no one is trustworthy here.
I called Brinda in my room to help me with the dress that she had gotten for me. it was a long red, 'completely covered' dress, with small intrinsic designs and a dupatta to top it all.
I struggled with most of it. The weight combined with the delicacy. The spread of the dress. EVERYTHING.
Somehow I managed in the heavy, rich, outfit. Paired with the lightest jewels I could find among the boxes of all the heavy jewelries. I went down to the main court where everyone were present.
It felt like the living room of a house.
All his courtiers were present there talking amongst themselves when I appeared. All the men stopped talking and stared my way, including the Queen mother who was sitting first, in the row of seats, to the left of the king.
I looked up to find the king's gaze. He looked at me, scanning me top to bottom like he normally does.

But this time I could find satisfaction rather than disgust and confusion written on his face.
I was contented all my hard work was a success. I was too shy to match the king eyes at his level so I quickly turned my gaze away.
I found Yug sitting at one of the seats. I waved, but immediately stopped and bowed to him. He flashed a smile in my direction, complimenting my outfit by raising one of his eyebrows.
I blushed in response looking back at the ground.
"How long are you going to stand there." The king sounded pissed in contrast to the way he looked when I just walked in.
Was he really pissed since the morning? Did my coffee do something bad to his intestines? Did he have an upset stomach?
I nodded with the frown on my face that I had, and looked around for an empty seat.
"Is she going to join us here?" the Queen Mother spoke just when I was about to sit, next to an empty spot across Yug.
"I am afraid, she shouldn't" the queen sounded mad too.
Definitely.
I haven't been very polite to her ever since our first encounter. All the faces turned to her.
The king looked at her and back at me. He seemed indecisive.
"it's okay" I said. "I needed to roam the palace anyway." I was set to leave the royal court without making it awkward.
"I am afraid. We shouldn't let a mental patient out so casually." The 'not so old' female spoke again.
I rolled my eyes at her, getting pissed at her now. I know it is not my place. But having known her intentions, I cannot pretend to be respectful.
I turned back to go straight to my room, when I heard someone say, "I'll show her around here." I turned to find Yug standing up taking permission from the King.
The king arched an eyebrow at him, and shot a glance at me.
"Don't you have anything better to do?" the queen mother said again.
"Enough Mother." The king uttered.
"If the minister is ready to take responsibility, so should he." He said turning to the court.
"be present here, before the royal court commences."
Yug bowed before the emperor and rushed towards me. I smiled at him leaving the court together.
"I am sorry about what happened earlier." He said referring to the unfriendly way the Queen mother had wished me 'good morning' on my first morning here.
We started walking down through the long corridor, that was brightly lit with the sunlight. The corridors gave a fantastic view of the nature outside.
"It's ok. I don't like her anyway." I rolled my eyes, trying to not get bothered with the murderer's words.
"you're the quickest among all of us to have judged her correct." He gave a dry laugh as we kept walking. I turned my head to him in surprise.
"what is that supposed to mean?" I asked, narrowing my eyes, anticipating his reply.
He shrugged his shoulder in response.
"just... we all know, she might not be like the way she pretends to." Although I wasn't even sure if she was even pretending to be good anymore now. She was now playing downright evil. I nodded in response.
"I just wish the king could understand it." I couldn't take my mind off the fact that the king will be killed by her, and I am here to witness that history.
"maybe the king is already aware." Yug said again. "who knows." He added.
I turned to him, stopping in my tracks.
"Neel already knows." I said out loud.
"sh sh sh" he kept his hand to cover my mouth. "be quiet" he whispered, taking his hands off.
"still he is dealing with the woman who can possibly kill him." I whispered back.
Yug changed from being panic to becoming neutral once again.
"I don't think that will happen. She is evil, but she cannot kill him." he defended the lady we were together bitching about.
I sighed at this. "oh you don't know shit." I said again.
He looked at me in confusion but decided to keep quiet.

Godfather Of Champions
This is a story about the pursuit of victory.— «I subscribe only to the theory of victory. I only pursue victory. As long as I am able to obtain victory, I don’t care if it’s total football or counterattack. What is the ultimate goal of professional soccer? In my opinion, it is victory, and the pinnacle of victory is to become the champions. I am a manager. If I don’t wish to lose my job or be forgotten by the people, there’s only one path for me to take, and that is to lead the team in obtaining victories, in obtaining championship titles!»The main character was not well-liked by people.— «⋯We conducted a survey which had been deemed by Manager Tony Twain as extremely meaningless. In a random street survey conducted, ninety-three percent of those surveyed chose the option ‘I hate Tony Twain’, while only seven percent chose the option ‘This person is rather decent, I like him’. It is worth noting that nobody chose the option ‘Who is Tony Twain? I don’t know him’. Mark, do you know why Manager Twain felt that our survey was very meaningless?» Parker, a reporter from laughed loudly and said when he was being interviewed by BBC.But there were also people who were madly in love with him.— When Tony Twain was forced to talk about the survey conducted by during an interview, his reply was : «I am happy, because Nottingham Forest’s fans make up seven percent of England’s population.»And he did not seem to care about how the others saw him.— «What are you all trying to make me say? Admit that I am not popular, and everywhere I go will be filled with jeers and middle fingers. You all think I will be afraid? Wrong! Because I am able to bring victory to my team and its supporters. I don’t care how many people hate me and can’t wait to kill me, and I also won’t change myself to accommodate the mood of these losers. You want to improve your mood? Very simple, come and defeat me.»His love story had garnered widespread attention.— «Our reporters took these pictures at Manager Tony Twain’s doorsteps. It clearly shows that Shania entered his house at 8.34pm and she did not leave the house throughout the night at all. But Manager Tony Twain firmly denies, and insists that that was merely the newest-model inflatable doll which he had ordered. He was the number one star of the team.— «⋯ Became the spokesperson of world-wide famous clothing brands, shot advertisements, frequented the fashion industry’s award ceremonies, endorsed electronic games, has a supermodel girlfriend. His earnings from advertisements exceed his club salary by seventeen times, owns a special column in various print medias, publishing his autobiography (in progress), and is even said that he is planning to shoot an inspirational film based off his own person experiences! Who can tell me which part of his life experiences is worthy of being called ‘inspirational’? Hold on⋯. Are you all thinking that I’m referring to David Beckham? You’re sorely mistaken! I’m talking about Manager Tony Twain⋯.»He was very knowledgeable about Chinese soccer.— «⋯ I’ve heard about it, that Bora gifted four books to his manager Mr. Zhu before your country’s national team’s warm up match. After which, the team lost 1:3 to a nameless American team from Major League Soccer. The new excuse that Mr. Zhu gave for losing the match, was that Bora gifted «books» (‘books’ and ‘lose’ are homophones in the Chinese language). Here, I recommend that you guys find out what that one specific book is. Which book? Of course the one that caused you all to score a goal. After that, tell me the title of the book. Before every match, I will gift ten copies of that same book to you. In that case, won’t you all be able to get a triumphant 10:0 win over your opponents every time?» An excerpt taken from Tony Twain’s special column in a certain famous Chinese sports newspaper. He was loved and hated by the press.— «He has a special column in at least four renowned print media, and he is able to get a considerable amount of remuneration just by scolding people or writing a few hundred words of nonsense weekly. While we have to contemplate hard about our drafts for three days before our boss is pleased with it. In an article inside his special column, he scolded and called all of the media ‘son of a bitch’, announcing that he hated the media the most. But every time he publishes an article, we flock towards him like flies which had spotted butter. Why? Because the readers like to read his news and see him scold people. I dare to bet with you, and Manager Tony Twain knows clearly in his heart as well, that even though he says that he hates us, he knows that the present him cannot do without us. Similarly, we also cannot do without him. Is this ultimately considered a good or a bad thing?» Bruce Pearce, a reporter from said with a face of helplessness when talking about Tony Twain. But no matter the case, his players were his most loyal believers.— Gareth Bale, «No no, we never had any pressure when playing on our home grounds. Because the pressure is all on the manager. As long as we see him standing by the side of the field, all of us will feel that we will be able to win that match. Even the football hooligans are like meek lambs in front of him!» (After saying this, he began to laugh out loudly)The reply from George Wood, the team captain of Nottingham Forest, was the most straightforward. «We follow him because he can bring us victory.»The legendary experience of Tony Twain, the richest, most successful, most controversial manager with the most unique personality!Debuting this summer.Thank you for reading.

A Prose of Years
For decades, spiritualist Evert Kallstrom and his team have joined in humanity’s millennia-long fight against the beasts. Wielding their weapons and their ki, they fought and killed these great threats to civilization. And yet, despite their efforts, humanity was losing traction in the war. In the last fifty years alone, more cities had been overrun than in all of known history. While most thought the great beasts natural, a few knew the terrible truth. They were the product of a dark lord, who desired neither fame nor wealth nor power. Instead, his sole purpose was the genocide of humanity. While their peers dithered, a small faction of the strongest mankind had to offer—including Evert Kallstrom and his team—set out towards the Deadlands to find and confront this dark lord. After weeks of travel, twenty-one spiritualists found themselves approaching an ancient fortress wherein rested a being known only as the Eastern Guardian. All they found was death. But death has other plans for Evert. Evert bolts awake in his 16 year old body near his hometown, decades in the past. He is confused, poor and weak. But with grit, sweat, and years of experience, he won't let the future repeat itself. That level of strength won't be enough by itself (it wasn’t last time) and victory is hardly assured (he’ll need to reach farther and higher than he ever did), but Evert refuses to squander a second chance. [Other tags: First Person POV, Hard Magic, Faulty Memory] Volume 1 is complete and has been fully released. My current intention is not to write any sequel volumes. That said, I have also released appendices (SPOILERS) that cover the worldbuilding and future story-that-never-was. Comments suggesting fixes for grammar, misspellings, etc. appreciated. Note: If you came here from Candlelit Lives, these stories have nothing in common.
