《He Saved Me》Chapter nineteen

I woke up to complete silence. I quietly make my way down to the kitchen to grab some water.
Once I get a glass of water I sit at the table. I was planning on going home but even though I'm doubting it, I should talk to Mason. He deserves to explain himself.
I scroll through instagram and some other social medias I have to see a couple notifications pop up.
I thread of pictures of me pop up on my account from a couple hours ago.
Ellie
"I'm gonna kill her" I say, clicking on the post. I see that I have gotten 300 likes and a couple comments. One from Samuel and Tyler pop up.
Samuel.Smith: Wow, you're gorgeous
Tylerrrr08: The beauty jumped out ❤️
"Leah?" Mason says walking into the kitchen.
"Oh, um hey. Are you?" I say and he nods.
"Yeah, I wanted to talk. I-I was really wrong and there's absolutely no excuse for what I did. I was an idiot" He starts rambling until I stop him.
"It's okay Mason. But why did you do it? Because of Samuel? I don't even know the guy. You have no reason to worry" I say looking at him as he sits down next to me.
"I know. It was stupid. I'm sorry, Please don't be mad or scared of me. Last night broke my heart" He says sincerely.
"Okay Mason. I'll forgive you. I-it just might take some time to get me to fully trust you again" I say and he nods, understandingly.
"I get it, come on. Let's go get some breakfast" He says and I smile.
"Okay, I just need to get changed"
"And I need to put a shirt on" He smiles at me.
Oh shįt, I didn't even realize he wasn't wearing a shirt.
I run upstairs and grab a pair of jeans and a hoodie out of my bag.
Once I'm changed and I have some makeup on with my hair done, I go back downstairs. Masons words from last night never leave my head 'She trusted me and I just threw it all away'
"You ready?" Mason says looking at me from the couch.
"Yeah. Oh wait, I need my wallet" I say running upstairs.

"Leah, I'm paying" He says and I smile.
"We can split it. And I need to stop at CVS on the way home" I say and Mason nods.
We pull up to iHop and walk through the doors. Luckily we got seated right away.
"I want cinnamon pancakes" Mason gushes causing me to laugh.
"I'll probably get bacon and eggs" I say looking at the menu.
"You need to get pancakes" Mason says and I shake my head.
"Usually I would be all over it but I'm going on a diet. So maybe I'll get sausage instead of bacon. Trying to be healthier" I say smiling at him.
"Leah, are you serious?" He says and I nod.
"I need to loose some belly fat and I just want to be healthier so I need to find a cheap gym"
"You don't need to loose anything. Wanting to gain muscle and be healthier is one thing" He says and I nod.
"I'm in it for both. Soon, I'll be able to beat you in a fight" I say winking as the waitress comes up to us.
"Hey guys, I'm Laura and I will be your waitress. Can I get you a drink?"
"I'll have chocolate milk and she will probably want water" Mason answers and I laugh.
"You're such a child. Yes, water is perfect. Thank you" I say and she smiles and walks away.
We quickly eat and the girl comes back with our bill.
"Here you are. You guys are just the cutest couple. Have a great rest of the day" She smiles and walks away.
Well, thats kind of awkward.
"I'm paying" I say grabbing the receipt before Mason can get his hands on it.
"Leah" He whines.
"You and your family have done enough for me. I'm paying" I say handing the girl money.
"I'll be right back. I'm just going to run into CVS right next door. Wait in the car?" I say and he nods, walking to the car.
I grab my 'lady products' and quickly pay for the overly expensive products that I don't even want.
"You got everything?" He says and I nod, holding the bag.
"Cool, lets go home" He says and I nod, putting my seatbelt on and starting the car.

We make small talk and soon arrive back at the White's.
I say hi to everyone and then grab my bags from upstairs.
I place them at the front door and go back into the kitchen to say goodbye. I spent a nice couple days here but I'm going to give them some room.
"Bye guys, Thank you so much. I really don't deserve friends and basically a family like you" I say hugging everyone.
"Where are you going Le?" Ellie pipes in while everyone just looks confused.
"I'm going home. Give you guys some space. Do you mind if I take Bella?" I say staring at the beautiful pup.
"You don't need to go home Leah" Jim says, taking a sip of his coffee.
Thats one thing I remembered. Jim always had coffee in his hand no matter where we were.
"I know, I'll be back soon. I promise. I just have some chores and errands to do so that my parents don't get mad at me" I say and Mason frowns.
"I'll help you" He says picking up Bella and putting some food in a bag for her.
"You don't have to Mason" I say nervously.
"I want to, let's go" He says taking the keys from my hand and giving me Bella.
I grabs my bags that are next to the door and puts them in the car for me.
I smile at his actions, as thats how my mother used to describe a proper gentleman to me when I was little.
'Now remember Leah. A real gentleman holds the door for you, takes your bags from you and treats you with love and respect. Don't settle for less sweetie'
A tear rolls down my cheek as I remember how loving she was before the event that split my family.
Mason gets in the car and we drive to my raggedy house compared to Masons. It's almost embarrassing.
We go in and Mason places my bags on the floor.
"Alright, whats first?" He says rubbing his hands together.
"Um, I need to go buy some beer for them. You can play with Bella for the meantime" I says biting the inside of my cheek.
"You have a fake id?" He asks, shocked.
"My mom got me one for this specific reason" I say and he nods.
"How about we do something else. I'll call one of the guys on the football team and get it for free" He says and I release a huge breath.
"Alright, then we need to clean their bedroom"
Oh no.
"Um, I-this is so embarrassing" I say placing my head on my hand.
"Hey its okay, it's their bedroom. You have no control over it. And you brought the right person" He says winking.
I grab my bags and Mason follows me to my room.
"It's nothing like yours" I say playing with my bracelet.
My room is very plain. It has white walls with some pictures hanging up here and there. There is a small dresser and a closet taking up half a wall. I also have my tiny desk pushed into one corner, close to the window for natural light.
"It's okay Le. It's not bad, just plain. Nothing wrong with it" He says hugging me.
"Thanks, I would say maybe you can help me decorate it but hopefully I will be out of here in a little bit. I've been saving for my own place" I say and he smiles.
"Follow me"
We make our way into my parents room and it's a disaster.
Beer and other alcohol bottles all over the place. The garbage is scattered across the floor. Clothes thrown all over the place. Comforter halfway off the bed.
Bella comes prancing into the room, happily jumping. Once she sees the disaster she runs right out causing Mason and I to laugh.
"I wish it was that easy Belle" I say placing a shirt in the hamper.
"I'll start on the bathroom" Mason says and I thank him.
"Le, do you have a speaker?" Mason calls from the bathroom.
"Yeah, in my room. Why?" I respond.
"I want to play music" He says and I nod.
"Alright, I'll go get it" I say walking into my room.

War of Seasons
Dorothea Atlin is the young, apathetic leader of the neutral territory of Sirpo, a chilly land hovering above the continuously warring factions of Sacer and Ghuria, whose devastating magics have ravaged their people and lands time and time again. Following a shocking attack and a cruel deception, Dorothea grows her conscience and takes up arms, using her self-destructive ability to manipulate the flow of time to ensure Sacer’s victory. Her growing understanding of war and the two factions is guided by Iree Nobelis, the determined and enthralling commander of Sacer’s forces, Ariana Kingfisher, a steely swordswoman of mixed Ghurian and Sacerian descent, and Rhys Tamlin, a kind but haunted soldier who goes to challenge Dorothea’s self-imposed celibacy and join her on a mutual journey of healing from the tragic legacies of the Atlin family and wars between the nations. Meanwhile, Dorothea’s only friend and deserter from the Sacerian military, Shark Olyen, returns to their homeland to face the family that disowned them and finds more than they bargained for in meeting Cerid Creed, a noble whose duty to his people clashes with his desires in romance and in life, much like Shark’s did long before. As their developing or preexisting loves and differing convictions on how to achieve peace create rifts between these major players, Dorothea experiences a personal revolution that leads her to fight for what she believes is right, no matter the cost. A slow-burn story that takes time setting up the psychology and motivations of characters for explosive payoff later down the line. Cover by Ben Arisson, who is also a wonderful author on this website!
