《Remarkable (Dance Moms Fic)》Chapter 11: Beginning of a Rivalry

The Abby Lee Dance Company were at the Burbank Airport Marriott & Convention Center and one of the rooms were used as their dressing room and they were getting ready.
"Remember this, once you leave the stage, the dancer after you better think it's the best performance of your life!" Abby told them.
Suddenly, the door from the hallway opened and coming in was none other than Cathy, who had a picnic basket in her hands and Vivi was with her, but they weren't alone, with them was a red haired boy around and a girl with blonde hair around ten.
"Surprise!" Cathy said as Abby, Shane, Lauren, Skye, the moms and the girls were surprised at Cathy making her presence known and even Megan and Sylvia were as surprised even though they had met her once. "Hello, everybody!"
"Hi...what in blazes are you doing in Los Angeles?" Abby wondered, still surprised.
"I've got a little something for you." Cathy gave Abby the picnic basket. "In case if you're wondering, i'm here in the hotel even though i don't like the hotel. I would like to introduce you to somebody, this is Justice and allow me to introduce you to Taylor. Taylor's a three time title winner, would you like to tell them what titles you've won."
"I've won Junior Miss Dynamite, Junior Miss KAR and Junior Miss Nexstar." Taylor announced.
"Taylor, those are nice, but i'm a eight time champion going on nine, six time regional champion and also if you add five Mr. Dance of Illinois awards and other awards that i've won, that means i've won twenty eight titles, so take that."
Taylor and Justice had looks of envy over hearing the accolades that Shane had won and so did Vivi while Cathy rolled her eyes.
"Whatever, Vivi and Justice are going to be duing a duet together and i believe that Mackenzie and the girl you brought to replace Vivi, Brookie will be competing against them, so that should be very interesting." Cathy said, then she saw Megan and Sylvia. "Taylor, Justice, that's one of Abby's old loser dancer, Nutty Meg and her birdbrained mother, Sylvia."
"Cathy, watch yourself, if anyone's the birdbrain, it's you." Megan retorted. "I may be 16 like Shane is, but in the ALDC, we don't take any mess."
"What she said." Sylvia stated.
"It's surprising to see you in Los Angeles, Cathy. We all thought you were done for the rest of the season." Holly commented.
"Yeah, but you know i'm here because a particular..." Cathy looked over at Kelly. "...somebody told me to bring it on, so you can consider it brought."
"Seriously, Cathy?" Shane rolled his eyes. "You don't even come out to Los Angeles, from what we've heard, you do all those competitions out in Ohio."
"I'm here, we've never done it before, so we wanted to give it a try." Cathy retorted. "You know, kick around fresh new choreography and not old, stale, obsolete and boring. For me, i don't have the vision of using the same old stuff because you think it works."

"No she didn't go there with Abby's choreography!" Megan growled as Abby, Gianna and Shane looked irate.
"She did." Sylvia responded.
"You don't want to go there with mom, she'll wreck you." Lauren warned Cathy.
"Zip it, you little brat!" Cathy retorted. "This is between me and your mother!"
"Don't talk to my daughter that way!" Abby roared.
"Yeah!" Shane added, in defense of his sister. "Cathy, my mom has kids working all over the place, we could walk into any..."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, so we have heard, i've got kids working too." Cathy said.
"Name one, because we have not heard of a Candy Apples dancer that's working professionally!" Abby told her.
"All right, i have Shannon, who's in New York City and i have Chuck..."
"What show are they doing?"
"They're not in broadway shows!"
"Double Failure!" Abby and Shane exclaimed as Cathy went to Kelly.
"You and Abby both told me to bring it on, well consider it brought." Cathy said as she left the dressing room.
"Yeah and take it all the way back to Ohio as well!" Abby yelled.
"Mom, i don't know what's worse, Kelly and the Choreographer or Cathy's moronic apples?" Shane wondered.
"They're both as bad, sweetheart." Abby muttered, then Shane resumed getting ready for the competition and Abby was helping Mackenzie wtih her costume. Shane was already in his costume.
"You look good in that costume." Megan complimented.
"Thanks." Shane replied.
"No problem.
"We've only learned 30 seconds of Paige's solo yesterday." Kelly informed.
"That's all?" Hollie stated as Abby was listening in. "How did it work out with that other choreographer?"
"Like i said, we just got 30 seconds done and to be honest with you, i don't have a clue on how we'll compete it because we were out of time. I hired the choreographer and they didn't have time to finish the choreography." Kelly admitted.
"So you wanted outside choreography." Abby stated.
"Kelly, here's the thing, you can either pull out of the group and go as a independent, prove mom wrong and they need Brooke to beat every other 13 year old and needs to beat Chloe and Maddie." Shane said.
"I won't do it to my kids. I won't." Kelly started crying.
"Stop your crying, it was all your fault from the start!"
"Pull the routine." Kelly told Abby as she left the room, then the girls all hugged Paige and Abby walked her son and Maddie to the stage, he would go first since the teen soloist division would be first and Maddie would go next since the mini soloist division would be next. Shane and Maddie were in the wings of the stage.
"Please welcome in our teen soloist division from the Abby Lee Dance Company in Skokie, Illinois, Shane and he'll be doing Play Ball!" Shane went onto the stage and this was his second to last solo of his dancing competition days, then he began dancing his behind off and he was nailing his moves and kept dancing and he did some baseball poses and at the end, he posed and the crowd cheered.

"All right, Shane-o!" Lauren and Skye cheered.
Shane headed off the stage and Maddie hugged him.
"You were awesome!" Maddie told him.
"Thanks, Mads." Shane replied. "I know you'll do awesome and even though your mom isn't here and is spending time with her boyfriend, we're all here for you."
"Thanks, Shane. that's why we all love you." Maddie stated as Shane gave her the thumbs up.
"For our junior soloist division, welcome from the Abby Lee Dance Company, Maddie with Disappear!" Maddie went on to the stage and she began dancing her heart out and she was excellent, then she posed and headed off stage and as she stepped off stage, she began to cry, wishing that her mother could have been there to see her dance and Shane and Chloe hugged her, then Abby came backstage and hugged both her son and Maddie, then Shane went and got changed into a ALDC baseball jersey, trackpants and sandals, once he did that, he sat with Abby, Megan, Sylvia, Lauren, Skye and the moms and next was the Mini Duet/Trio division.
"And now, from the Candy Apples Dance Center in Canton, Ohio, Vivi-Anne and Justice with Rock and Roll!" Vivi-Anne and Justice began dancing and they were decent, but had a lot of flaws, but they completed the dance.
"Really?" Abby rolled her eyes. "Megan, i remember you and my son did a duet with the same name years ago and they rocked it."
"We sure did." Megan stated.
"Yeah, Justice and Vivi were bo-ring." Shane commented.
"Ditto." Megan agreed.
"I'm sure that Brookie and Mackenzie will do way better than that." Sylvia commented.
"Please welcome from the Abby Lee Dance Company Brookie and Mackenzie with Snake Charmer!" Brookie and Mackenzie were in their poses on the stage and once the music began playing, the two girls began dancing and did really well with their dancing and next was the junior soloist division.
"Next up is from Candy Apples Dance Center, Taylor!" Taylor was on the middle of the stage in a pose, she began dancing, but the music that was playing was for Chloe's solo and that irked Abby, Shane, Skye, Megan, Sylvia and even the moms.
"Are you kidding me?!" Shane growled.
"It's obvious that Cathy is trying to psych Chloe out." Abby stated, she was irked.
"Talk about sinking to a low, but this is low." Skye fumed.
"Yeah, that's for Chloe's solo!" Lauren grumbled.
"I thought Cathy was stupid after we first met her several weeks ago, but she's become even stupider, she needs to head back to Ohio and come up with an original idea." Megan said.
"Yeah." Sylvia added.
"Mom, i'm gonna head backstage and warn Chloe about this." Shane told Abby.
"Good idea." Abby commented.
Shane then got up from his seat and went backstage to find Chloe, who was coming out of the ALDC's dressing room after she was hearing her music playing as Christi was behind her.
"Is that your music?" Christi asked her daughter as Shane approached them. "Do you have any idea on what's going on, Shane?"
"Chloe, Christi, just to let you know, Cathy's using the same music for your solo for Taylor's solo." Shane informed.
"Thanks for letting us know." Christi stated.
"You're welcome, i'll take Chloe to the stage." Shane walked Chloe to the stage and Taylor was done completing her solo and Chloe informed the stage hand that Taylor used the same music she was gonna use for her solo.
"Please welcome from Abby Lee Dance Company, this is Chloe with Dream On A Star!" Chloe came on to the stage and from the beginning of the music, she began dancing like it was her last dance and then at the end, she posed and left the stage, then the girls except for Mackenzie and Brookie got ready for the group dance.
"Please welcome from the Abby Lee Dance Company, My Pumps!" Maddie, Chloe, Brooke, Paige and Nia all walked on to the stage and they did their dance and at the end, Nia did the death drop before heading off stage and for awards, Shane won in the teen soloist division, Maddie got second in the mini soloist division, which was her first loss that season, in the junior solo division, Chloe got first and Taylor didn't place, for the mini duet trio division, Vivi-Anne and Justice didn't place and Mackenzie and Brookie got first and in the group awards, the girls got third place.
In the hallway, Abby, Shane, Lauren, Skye, Megan, Sylvia, Gianna, the moms and girls were talking and they noticed that Cathy, Vivi, Justice, Taylor and their moms, named Tanya McCort and Nicole O'Lear were approaching them.
"Congratulations." Cathy told them, with sarcaticness in her tone as she was not happy over getting beat. "You know, i could go home and fix what my dancers did wrong and you couldn't fix doo doo."
Cathy walked away with Vivi, Justice, Taylor, Tanya and Nicole.
"And they say you're bad, but Cathy's even worse, no disrespect." Megan told Abby.
"None taken."
"I bet that isn't gonna be the last time we'll see Cathy." Sylvia predicted.
"You may be right." Christi commented, then they were all backstage and once they packed everything up, they were gonna make their way to Lake Tahoe, but first Abby had to fly back to Chicago to check on her mother, she would meet them there and also, it was going to be Shane's last competition as a competitive dancer.

When they get dragged into a grand scheme to unpick the ancient secrets entombed within one its foremost forbidden zones in their world, the Yin Eclipse Mountains, they must all try to survive the dark machinations, eldritch undercurrents and the echoes of a terrible conflict trying to re-emerge into an unsuspecting cosmos that had rather hoped it was done with that kind of thing a few eras hence. So please come join Arai, Sana, Juni, Ling, Shu and the rest of my cast as they journey through strange lands, meet all kinds of unusual beings and unravel some of the power and glory of a land time tried very hard to forget. I promise terrifying mushrooms, angry snakes, confused gods, even more confused cultivators and much, much more! Update schedule: (02/6/2022) As chapters are done, sorry. Progress: Currently up to old chapter 13-15. Chapter 24(or 25)/13, Parts 1 & 2 will be the end of the rework. Part 2 has been temporarily delayed due to me getting a frozen shoulder in the middle of June, which has been very slow to properly clear up. It is getting better, though, but Shoulder/neck is the worst set of muscles to have issues with ;( You can currently pick up most story threads after the rewritten chapters, starting from chapter 13-14 (old) Genre-wise, this is a bit hard to pin down. It's technically a Xianxia (because cultivators!), but it also veers towards Xuanhuan and has more traditional High Fantasy elements and a bit of Gods and Monsters and All Myths Are (on some levels) Valid. It also has a fairly large, ensemble cast, so if multiple point's of view are not your thing I am sorry. It won't ever really be considered 'grimdark' by any real measure of that definition but it does go to some complicated and fairly places dark occasionally, which I will note in author pre-chapter notes when expedient!. About the Author I mainly write fiction for my own hobby, it makes a nice change from academic scribbling! I started writing this quite a number of years ago. It has grown somewhat organically out of a bunch of different interests in all kinds of Mythology, World Building, Drawing Maps, Archaeology, Anthropology, History and Epic Fantasy fiction into what it is today. So I hope you enjoy the story and thanks for reading! Other stuff The cover is made by the author, using photos taken by the author. There is a Discord Server- Please come and chat, but beware of spoilers.

Patchwork System
Notification (cannot be ignored): For being the first being to kill another of its own species after Sublimation, Lyam Aldren is awarded the Title of Cain’s Successor. Let all fear the Kinslayer!!! Lyam Aldren, killer for hire, was just going about his business when he suddenly received a notification from something called the System. Apparently, the entirety of Earth, its denizens and its matter were transported into the world of the System, planted in 'patches' all throughout the infinite world. The world of the Patchwork System is one of challenges, where life is cheap, power is king, and Classes and levels are a thing. In a brutal world, there is perhaps room for a killer with bloodstained hands to find his own way, free of his past. However, his Title and his inherent nature plague him, his fragmented personality laid bare to those with the eyes to see, and if he doesn't become powerful enough to defeat or escape those who would use or destroy him, he will quickly be devoured by the merciless world created by the System. Compared to my previous work, this is a more 'classic' litrpg setup, with clear (if somewhat complex) progression through levels and skill gains, with a 'system apocalypse' setup. Unlike most system apocalypse story protagonists, Lyam is neither a leader nor is he particularly interested in saving his fellow Earthlings. This is a story of a man who is both endangered and set free by the destruction of his old world, as he finds both power, new discoveries, and adventure in a place where his past matters not at all and power is the only language most speak. Later in the story, there will be harem elements, but the first volume is dedicated to Lyam's first months in the System. For those who are more interested in the Heirs of the Hooded King, I am putting it on hiatus as I rework the setting and future story developments a bit.
