《Tempest || l.s. ✓》Chapter 23

The two sat in silence for a little while. Harry wasn't much up to holding a conversation- understandably- so Louis didn't push.
"Har-" Louis started, but immediately stopped as he heard a soft breath. "Wait," he whispered, "are you asleep?"
He waited for an answer but never got one, so with Harry's hand grasping his shirt and the other one pressed flat against Louis's chest. The side of Harry's face was rested against Louis's shoulder and his bottom lip was jutted out slightly.
Louis looked down fondly and shuffled the two down the bed gently. There was no way Harry was letting go anytime soon so he decided he'd stay like this until Harry awoke.
But to be frank Louis was knackered so he shut his eyes for a minute, and a minute turned into an hour, and an hour turned into a night.
When Louis awoke the next morning Harry was still fast asleep with his face pressed against Louis's chest. Louis's arms stayed wrapped around him, almost as if holding the fragile boy together.
Harry soon stirred, his eyes fluttering open but he didn't focus on the situation and instead cuddled further into Louis with hooded eyes. Louis just stroked his hair gently and Harry nuzzled against him like a little kitten.
"Hello." Louis spoke softly, clearing his throat as it came out a little scratchy.
"Hi...oh, um shit, sorry." He immediately shuffled away, sitting up.
"Hey, I was comfortable." Louis pouted.
"Sorry." Harry repeated.
Louis observed the way Harry had dark circles around his eyes, and how his lips were slightly down-turned in the corners.
"How are you feeling?"
"Like jumping off a cliff." Harry joked, a small, obviously forced smile tugging at his mouth.
Louis didn't look overly amused.

Harry's smile faltered and he looked down to his clasped hands. "Um, yeah. I mean, I don't really feel all that great. I'm just embarrassed." He admitted. "I'm embarrassed that you know how I'm feeling."
"Oh darling." Louis sighed, "I know it's easy for me to say but please don't worry about me knowing. I'm here for you. I'm not going to judge you for anything."
"But-" Harry started but cut himself off as he slumped back.
"But what?"
"Don't worry." He gulped, looking away. "I don't wanna talk about this."
"Okay." Louis nodded, "whenever you want to talk you can though. What do you want to do today?"
"It's not very nice out by the sound of it." Harry offered quietly as an answer.
"You wanna just stay in?"
"Yes please."
"Alright." Louis nodded, "I'll have a shower then make us some breakfast. Anything you want in particular?"
"I don't want you to treat me differently." Harry murmured, ignoring Louis's question. "Just because I'm, well you know, I don't want special treatment."
"I'm not gonna give you special treatment. I'm going to treat you how I have the past few weeks."
"Thank you. I appreciate that."
Louis smiled at him, laying a hand on Harry's arm and rubbing it lightly with his thumb.

"H," Louis wandered into the living room where Harry was curled up on the sofa. His jumper was pulled over his hands, and his face was scrumpled in a frown.
"Yeah?" He looked up from the arm of the sofa.
"C'mon."
"What?"
"I'm pretty sure that if you sit around doing nothing all day it may not improve things. Like, I mean you're kinda alone with your thoughts."

"I just tried to kill myself, give me a break." Harry huffed, though he said it in a joking manner.
"Harry...no, no. I mean like, I mean, we should do some baking. It will be fun and it might distract you."
Harry just shrugged before beginning to pick at his nails.
"What about a baking contest?"
Harry shook his head, looking timid. "Can we just make something together?"
"Of course. What about a carrot cake?"
"Because you like carrots?"
"No. Just because it's the first thing I thought of." He chuckled, holding his hand out for Harry.
"Are the cats okay?" Harry asked immediately as thunder clapped.
"They're in the pub." Louis reassured him, "don't worry."
"Does their owner not miss them?"
"Nah." Louis shrugged. "I fucking hate thunderstorms."
"I'm alright with them." Harry spoke, "I'll keep you safe."
"Thank you Harold." Louis smiled softly, "let's go and make a cake."
Harry took Louis's hand and pulled himself up. "Let's bake."
The two walked into the kitchen, Harry tying his short curls back with the pink scrunchie that had been on his wrist.
"Okay, so there are like no clothes shops on this island but I need you to come shopping with me because your outfits are always so cute." Louis observed the loose cream joggers and knitted light pink jumper.
"We can do online shopping." Harry agreed.
"We can go to the mainland. It's not too far."
"Okay." He shrugged, looking down.
"So, cake. What flavour?"
"Let's go with carrot cake."
Louis gave him a thumbs up as he started to grab the ingredients. Harry sat on the stall, spinning side to side as he stared at Louis.
"Do you really think Gemma will want to talk to me?" He asked quietly.
Louis stopped what he was doing and turned to face Harry, leaning against the counter. "Of course she will."
"What if she hates me?"
"She won't. And if for some reason she does then she's not worth your time. You're never gonna know unless you talk to her."
"Might call her tonight." Harry muttered. "I don't know."
"I think it's worth a shot." Louis smiled encouragingly.
"Yeah. Maybe." Harry stood up, grabbing an apron from behind the door and rolling his sleeves up. "What do you wanna do?"
"Grate the carrots." Louis held up a carrot and a grater, looking far too excited.
"Have fun."
"What are you gonna do?"
"Mix stuff together."
"I have a cake mixer you know?"
"I prefer to do it by hand."
Louis stood still for a minute or two, a look of concentration upon his face.
"Um...are you okay?" Harry raised his eyebrows.
"Just tryna work out if that was a sexual innuendo or not."
"It wasn't." Harry giggled with a small blush.
"Okay." Louis chuckled. "Shall we put some music on?"
"Yeah." Harry smiled softly. "Let's."
