《Lost and Found》Maddie

I woke up in a new place. The room was a beautiful turquoise-gray color. I was in a strange bed, in a strange place, and once again, surprised with one of those strange new faces. It was the boy, Jace, I think? He yelled for his sister, our sister and she came running in the room.
I was bombarded with questions. None of which I could answer. I just continued shrugging my shoulders until my stomach growled. We all laughed.
"Well, it seems as though you are hungry. Either that or your stomach doesn't like questions." Alexandria giggled.
"I'll make you your favorite, peanut butter and honey sandwich," Jace said. His face darkened, "Wait, is that still your favorite?"
I simply replied, "Yes," because I was unsure how I should answer.
He smiled, "Great! I'll be back soon!"
Alexandria looked at me, "You don't know if it's your favorite do you?"
I shook my head and shrugged my shoulders at the same time and we started cracking up.
She reached to the bedside table on my right. She picked up a phone.
"This is your phone Maddie," she hesitated, "Maybe if I read some of the texts to you you'll remember something."
"Maybe," I replied.
We looked at my phone. She typed in my password, 5742. I should probably remember that. I repeated it in my head a couple of times. 5742. 5742. 5742. 5742. She opened our messages. Our last conversation went like this:
8:30 p.m.
Me: heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! whts up?
Alexandria: the sky dumbo
M: Whatever
A: I am trying to study for my math test
M: u have been studying for forever. Go to the ice rink we can get 🍦

10 Minutes later
A: where ru i cant find you
A: This isn't funny maddie its annoying
A: MADDIE!
A: MADELYN GRACE WRIGHT!
I finished reading, "What happened after that?"
She hesitated, "I found you surrounded by cops and paramedics. A drunk man had driven his truck and almost hit a 5-year-old girl. You had pushed her out of the way and got hit. They think you hit your head as you were flying backward."
"What happened to the drunk?"
"They brought him to jail. He's going away for a long time."
"And the little girl?"
"She just got scraped up a little bit. You know, a little scrape here and there, but overall she's fine and was really worried about you."
"Can I go and visit her?"
Alexandria smiled, "Her mom has been calling about visiting. We weren't sure if you were up for it. You were kind of unconscious. I'll call her and let her know."
I smiled back, "Thanks, Alexandria."
She laughed, "You call me Alex. In fact, you almost refuse to call me Alexandria. Unless, of course, you're angry with me. Which by the way, never happened."
We cracked up. I don't know why it was funny. It just was. At that moment Jace walked into the room. For the first time, I seemed to notice how my twin brother actually looked. He was tall, slightly built, but you could still see his muscles rippling beneath his skin. He had his brown hair cut in a quiff. His eyes were a darker shade of blue, but he had this weird sense of authority about him. This was my twin, it feels weird though. I can't remember anything about him. It's weird looking at someone and being told that they are your family, but you don't recognize them.

He looked at us, puzzled, "What are you laughing at?"
"Nothing," we said in unison. Once again we were senseless in fits of giggles. I was glad that this was my family but, it took us a while to compose ourselves enough to sound like real human beings instead of giggling between every word.
"Here you go, my favorite sister," he set my sandwich down in front of me.
Alex threw a pillow at him. And a second.
"Ow!" He exclaimed.
"He really must be weak for a pillow to hurt," she whispered in my ear. She threw another one.
I giggled. That giggle turned into laughter. Pretty soon we were all laughing. When we finally stopped laughing, my stomach growled again. Once again we couldn't stop laughing. I don't know why we were laughing, it was probably from the relief that I was perfectly okay.
"Wait," I said, "Can someone help me eat? My arms are super sore."
Alex sobered immediately, "I can help. Jace, do you want to call Mrs. McCarty? Tell her that she can come over and talk to Maddie."
Jace agreed and walked out of the room.
20 minutes later I heard a knock at the door. The door was opened shortly after.
"Hi Jace, how's it going? How is Madelyn?" a new voice asked.
"I'm doing fine, but as for Maddie, why don't you ask her?" Jace replied.
A little girl that looked about 5 came bounding into my room. She had long blonde hair and bright green eyes. She was short and slim. She wore black leggings and a gold and blue dress. She looked at me and smiled shyly.
"Thank you," she said.
"Your welcome," I smiled, "What's your name?"
"Rebekah," she responded.
Her arm was bandaged from mid-forearm to 3 inches above her elbow. It must be a pretty nasty cut.
"Is that from the accident?" I questioned.
She nodded. She hopped up on my bed and gave me a hug.
"I'm sorry for being in the way of the truck. If I hadn't been there you wouldn't be hurt," she said.
I looked at her, "No. It's not your fault. The driver was drunk and he drove onto the sidewalk. If it's anybody's fault it's his. Alright?"
She looked embarrassed, "Okay."
I began coughing. Pretty soon I couldn't stop. I coughed up blood. Rebekah ran out of the room. I started gagging and began throwing up uncontrollably. Alex, Jace, and Mrs. McCarty ran into the room, they stopped in surprise. They just stood there staring at me. They were just frozen and unable to move.
Alex snapped out of it, "JACE CALL 911!"
He ran out of the room. Alex and Mrs. McCarty picked me up and brought me to the car. I was still throwing up. Jace ran out of the house with a bucket. I threw up in that. The pain was uncontrollable and awful. It hurt so much. We met the ambulance on the way. The paramedics put me on a stretcher and I began convulsing. After that, the world dissipated from memory.
