You look outside with your hoodie on. It's a pretty cold day. It's raining outside of the car. You don't like the rain, you think it just looks.. miserable. Suddenly your father pulls over the car. You look up and look out the front window.
''Are we here?'' You look around, and see a house with a 'for sale' sign.
''Yes, y/n. This is it.'' Your father says with an annoyed tone.. as always.
You don't mind his tone, as you're used to it. You pull open the door of the car and get out, accidentally stepping into a pool of water. Your shoe is completely soaked already. ''Great.'' You mumble to yourself as you get out of the vehicle properly.
Your brother looks at you and notices your shoe. ''You alright?'' He walks up to you and opens an umbrella. He holds it above the two of you.
''I'm fine, Mitch.'' You grab the umbrella out of his hands, holding it for him. ''I'm weaker than you. I'll keep you dry if you grab my stuff out of the car.'' He nods and grabs some stuff out of the car. You look around the street. Nobody is outside. You turn your head back to the door and help your brother stay dry as he unloads the car.
After a while y/f looks at you and points towards the stairs. ''You can choose your room first, because you're the youngest.''
You immediatly rush upstairs and look at all the three different rooms. two of them are connected to a bathroom, but you didn't care about that. You immediatly fell in love with the third room. The room with the balcony. It had a good view over the backyard. You could definatly use this balcony to spy on your family.

It's tuesday. You've lived peacefully in this house for three days now. It's 21.00 and you are sitting on your bed, which has your old, uncomfortable matress on it. You're looking at some YouTube videos of people with crazy life stories. You're thinking of submitting a story of your own. You suddenly hear a gunshot and immediatly get up to look outside. You get onto your balcony and look around, only to see a camera being pointed at your face.
''Sorry!'' You hear someone shouting and laughing afterwards. ''We didn't mean to scare you.''
The light of the camera hurts your eyes, so you cover them with your hand. ''What was that? Was that a gun?'' You try to look at the people, but because of the bright light you can only see vague skin-colored spots.
They laugh a little. ''Maybe.'' They awkwardly laugh afterwards.
After a while you turn around and get back inside. You had a feeling they didn't mean any harm, but they would be really noisy neighbours. You look back outside at your new neighbours and think for a few seconds. You walk over to your closet and grab a vest. You quietly go outside and climb onto the roof. Once you're sitting on the top you put on your vest and just look at what the neighbours are doing. They seem to be recording some kind of video. You just watch what happens and there are moment when you even laugh softly. They eventually stop recording and start cleaning up their mess. After a while some guy notices you and notifies the others about you. You grab your legs and wrap your arms around them as you look away, trying to stop the people from paying attention to you.

''Hey, girl!'' You hear them calling for you so you look back at them. ''Mind getting off the roof? It's really dangerous. We don't want you to fall.'' You look down at the balcony and back at them. They sign at you to come over to them. ''Come on. We don't want to call the ambulance for this.''
Without problems you glide down the roof and land on your balcony. ''Give me a second, I'll be right there.'' You walk inside, down the stairs and go into the yard. You step on a bench and look over the fence. ''What's up?'' You lean your arms on the fence and lean your head on your arms.
Two guys walk over to you and one speaks up. ''Are you okay? You could've gotten yourself killed if you slipped.''
''If you had told me that earlier I would've actually slipped on purpose.''
Their eyes widen and they look at each other before looking back at you. One of them reaches their hand out. ''I'm Chris.'' You take his hand and shake it. The other guy steps forward and reaches his hand out as well. ''I'm Jimmy.'' You take his hand and shake it as well.
''I'm Y/n, I just moved here with 3 others.'' You notice the mess at the neighbours' side of the fence. ''I still wonder what you did here. It looks disgusting.''
One of the guys rubs the back of their head and laugh awkwardly. ''It's for a video. Wanna help clean?''
Suddenly you get pulled off the bench from behind. Your head hits the ground and you black out for a few seconds. ''She would love to, but I'm not allowing you to talk to her anymore.'' Once you look up you see your father dangerously pointing at them. You get up. Your father hits you and pushes you towards the door.
''I'm sorry, father.'' You shake the dirt off your pants and vest and step inside.
''You better be sorry, otherwise you'll get to go into the basement for a week.'' He slaps you across the face and points at the stairs, indicating you should go upstairs.
You do as he says and slowly walk upstairs. You look through the door of the balcony. The neighbours have gone inside. Suddenly you see a guy walking outside. You saw Chris. You wave at him and he notices you. You know what he is going to say as soon as he opens his mouth. ''I'm okay.'' You say, not allowing him to ask the question. He smiles at you and goes inside. You close the door of the balcony and lock it. There are some clothes on the bed. You change into them and get in bed. With the headache you got from the fall it's hard to fall asleep, but you eventually manage to find the peace to still do so.

Blood & Noodles
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] As they always have, humanity hunts the gods roaming the world, craving the supernatural power that flows within their veins. Even a drop is zealously guarded, passed from master to student through the ages. It is with this stolen power that the Blooded - those with divine blood coursing through them - grasp beyond mortality and achieve prestige, power, and greatness. Yet, for every fraction of power gained, thousands perish, slain by the gods' supernatural prowess. But everything is beginning to change. Eight years ago, for the first time in human memory, a god was felled. Part-time chef and full-time nuisance Orvi wants nothing to do with gods. Living in a derelict city, his only concerns are ensuring his adopted family's restaurant is prosperous and how to best beat the neighbourhood boys in a fight. If he's lucky, he might even snag a date with the farmer's daughter at the market. But even though he cares nothing for the gods or their blood, the world won't leave him alone forever. Because to reach godhood, one must first leave their humanity behind. *** The first arc of Blood & Noodles follows the adolescent Orvi as he attempts to navigate his rapidly changing home and - by his own definition - protect his family. The story is told almost entirely in the first-person, from the perspective of a teenager who isn't always the sharpest tool in the shed. There are tragic elements, especially in the current arc. It's character-focused and driven, though the protagonist's shenanigans are backdropped by a world operating independently from him. Orvi's a generally light-hearted character, and though the story veers into darker territory, I also want it to be able to make readers smile. Action sequences, despite the fantastical elements, are meant to be grounded and clearly-conveyed; Orvi is a brawler, not a warrior. I'm trying to write a story that's enjoyable to read and flows nicely, mainly because it's more fun to write. I'm also trying to improve my writing, so any feedback, whether positive or negative, is welcome!
