In Lothlorien, a pair of blue eyes did indeed fly open, and the woman to who they belonged shot into a sitting position, gasping and coughing on the air around her. Looking to her right, there was an open door, and through it she saw her brother on a bed like her own.

But she was dead, wasn't she? She had traveled through dreams to speak to her love again, and into the sleeping mind of Elrond to help him, but how? If she was not dead, then...

A light chuckle came from the doorway, and she turned to see Galadriel standing there.

"It is good to see you awake, Miriel. How do you feel?" Miriel took a deep breath, savoring the feeling of fresh air entering her lungs.

"Confused. How are we alive?" The Lady of the Wood smiled at her.

"I saw this in the mirror. It was not certain, but I knew it could not be risked, certainly not with your life."

"But how... I am afraid I still don't understand." Galadriel's smile was kind.

"My gift to you, my dear. One for you, one for you to give. You chose wisely. Now rest, child, regain your strength. The world will have need of you soon."

She left the room, and Miriel's eyes closed of their own accord. She smiled, and slipped away into the current of dreams.
