《Dr. Fate》Aria

💗
Sunday morning, I return to the return to the hospital dressed in a white off the shoulder dress that my little friend picked out. Last week I FaceTimed her and together we went through my closet until she found a dress that she wanted me to wear. This dress, was chosen. She paired it with clear heels and a nude purse all from my closet.
I let a 7 year old, aspiring to be a fashion designer, dress me. How could you say no to a kid with brain cancer? It's the most impossible thing to do. Especially when today she gets her tumor removed.
Walking down the hall with the giant present in my hand, I walk to Aria's room and knock twice before stepping into the open doors. I poke my head from behind her present and greet the beautiful little girl laying in the bed.
"Lana." She exclaims excitedly.
I smile and set the present into an empty seat than greet my favorite little girl. "Hey kid. Hey Magnolia and Ken."
They greet me back and I sit down on the bed next to Aria. "I found this giant bear just sitting outside of your door."
She laughs and thanks me for it before deciding to name him Benjamin. With another glance at the bear I agree that Benjamin suits the huge brown bear.
"You wore the outfit," she sighs playing with the material of my dress.
Shrugging, I casually look around the decorated room. "Of course I did, it's a big day. They can finally remove the tumor."
"Thank you for wearing it. The doctor will love it."
I pause, my attention shifting back to her. I ask her to repeat what she just said to make sure I didn't hear it wrong. I didn't.
She giggles and looks at her parents. "The doctor is really handsome."
I turn to her parents and lift a brow in silent question. I've known her parents for a while. Magnolia, Ken and I went to college together, kind of. She was working on her masters while I completed my undergrad. She's about 5 years older than me. Her and Ken got pregnant with Aria their senior year of college. I met them when I picked up a 'babysitter needed' paper on the school bulletin. We've been friends since.
Magnolia smiles at me and shrugs. "He is a decent looking man. I think he would be good for you."
If it's the man I think it is, then he thinks so too. And so does my Mom and now my friends. Good to know everyone approves.
Turning back to Aria, I shake my head at her set up attempt. It's kind of too late kid, I want to say, but instead I just change the subject to the reason we are here.
"Are you excited? Nervous? Indifferent?" I ask, trying to understand what she's feeling.
When her face falls, I think I know. But then she says something that makes my heart break. "If I don't make it, you will watch after Mommy and Daddy and Benjamin?"
Tears slip down her cheeks and I swallow my own tears as I glance at her parents. What do I say to this?

Gently I take Aria's hands and hold them in mine. "Sweetie, I can't do that, because you are going to make it. You're going to get better and grow up and become a fashion designer and I will be the first person to buy one of your designs."
I wipe her tears and place a soft kiss to her forehead. "We say positive things and we get positive things, right?"
She nods and I kiss her cheek again, pulling her into a hug. "You've made it this far, kid, don't give up now."
She holds me back and I let the tears slip out. For moments we sit like this until a knock comes to the door and Ashton enters with a group of surgical staff.
"Are you ready, Aria?"
She looks up at me, then looks at her parents and nods to the people that just came into the room with Ashton. I begin to climb off the bed, but before I can Aria grabs my arm and whispers in my ear, "Ask him on a date?"
Smiling, I shake my head and stand to my feet walking over next to Ashton who's already, dragging his eyes over me. I think I'm going to have fun with my new prescription.
"Dr. Fate do you think Lana looks pretty in her dress?" Aria asks as the people around her move. I guess she's decided to take matters into her own hand.
He chuckles and looks me over then answers with a soft nod. "She is very beautiful."
"Are you single?" Aria continues to question him.
Ashton only shrugs. "It's complicated."
I turn to him. This man is with someone else. "How is it complicated," I question glaring at him with furrowed brows. "You're either with someone or you're not."
He lifts a brow as if I'm serious, and meets my glare with a deadpanned one of his own. "Let me rephrase: she is complicated."
I think I now know who this woman is. And I must disagree with Ashton about me being complicated. Its not me that's complicated, more-so the situation of my conflicting feelings for a man I can't seem to get out of my mind.
"How is she complicated?" Aria asks.
Once again he glances at me. "I want her, but I'm unsure of where our relationship is going."
Aria shrugs dismissively. "Lana isn't complicated."
Thank you very much, kid. Tell this man the truth. I am not complicated, he's complicated. He was only supposed to be a one night stand. Now here he is wanting more. I'll prove I'm not complicated...
"Dr. Fate, would you like to go on a date with me?" I question, bluntly. "My doctor gave me this prescription for --"
"Sure," he quickly interrupts.
I laugh and step closer to Ashton, wrapping my arm around his and winking at Aria. Little does she know I already planned on having Dr. Fate. And judging from the smirk on his face it was his plan too.
We watch them adjust Aria then roll her out before he places a discreet kiss to my head and follows them out.

"Thanks for helping keep Aria's spirits up," Magnolia sighs. "It's been really hard the past few weeks."
"You know I love her and you guys. I'll do whatever to help."
Unexpectedly she pulls me into a hug and squeezes me tightly. "We love you too." When she pulls back there are tears in her eyes, that she quickly wipes away.
Ken approaches next with a lifted brow in my direction. "So what's going on with you and the doctor?"
"What?" My voice rises, betraying me in my attempt to lie.
Ken laughs as if he just learned my secret. Little does he know the secret goes way deeper than he's probably thinking. But I know I can confide in Ken and Magnolia because they wouldn't judge me for what I did.
So I do, telling them about the night before my mother's surgery, of course leaving out the explicit details, I let them know how I met the handsome Dr. Fate. They found it very interesting that I didn't at least give him a name, I thought it would've been easier that way. It wasn't.
Magnolia nudges me in my side once I've finished giving them all the information they need. "So you are going to be having sex with him to make your 'unhealthy' attraction to him, healthy?"
Well when she puts it like that..."I guess."
Ken laughs and nods in understanding. "Now we know why you guys are complicated."
"He wants to be with you," Magnolia says cheerfully. "He likes you."
"He likes sex."
In an attempt to avoid any further questioning, I tell Ken and Magnolia that I will be back after visiting my mother and father. For an hour and a half, I sit with my Mom and Dad talking about the party she wants to have next Saturday to celebrate her tumor being removed.
Once it's all planned I head back to Aria's room to check on Ken and Magnolia and see if they want anything to eat that isn't from the hospital. We decide on the Chick-Fil-A around the corner. I take their orders: Cobb Salad for Magnolia, Grilled Chicken Club for Ken, 6 nuggets kids meal for Aria, and 2 chicken sandwiches for my parents. I struggle between salad or sandwich.
Nevertheless, I get into my car and drive around the corner to get the food. I end up getting both a salad and sandwich for myself and decide whichever one I don't eat will be saved for later.
After getting everything situated in my car, I drive back to the hospital, adjusting the food in my arms so I can easily carry it in. I drop my parents food off first before going to Aria's room where I find her back from surgery, laying on the bed as people surround her.
"Food!" She exclaims when I walk in and set the bags on an empty table.
"Hey kid! You made it!" Picking up her food, I hold it in my hand and walk up to the bed. "Feel different?"
She shrugs and I laugh, setting her food down next to her. "First let's ask the doctors if you can eat."
We turn to Dr. Fate awaiting his answer. "What's in the bag?"
"Grilled chicken and fruit cup," I reply quickly.
He nods to our silent question. "This once, because you deserve it. But after, I want you to eat a well balanced diet. Milk, yogurt high fiber foods. I will give your parents a post care pamphlet for everything."
All I got from that was a yes, so I pass the kid her food then move back over to the bags to give Ken and Magnolia their food. After, I grab my own food and take a seat next to Aria as the people walk out, but I catch Dr. Fate's attention before he can walk out.
"Want a Cobb salad?" I offer.
He smiles, that perfect smile of his, and approaches me taking the salad and turning on his heels to walk back out. I whistle for him before he can make it to the door, watching his cute ass stop moving before he turns back around to me.
"You have to eat with us. I'm cashing in our date. I bought."
All he does is nod then makes his way back over to me, taking the seat next to me. "You're lucky I am currently not needed and I am starving."
I really think he's the lucky one, but I keep my mouth shut. Instead I drape my legs over his and relax into his side as we eat lunch. I notice the way his eyes drag over me, probably admiring my white dress. He better not be getting any ideas.
When we finish eating, Ashton immediately, pulls me out of the room and places his hands on my sides, squeezing my hips and pulling me into his chest. "I need you," he groans. "Now."
He points to a door that I know will probably lead to an on-call room then begins to tug me in that direction. But I yank my hand back and step away from him. As much as I am getting turned on right now, I am not having sex with him in an on call room.
"Fine," he grumbles. "Tonight, you're coming over. Keep the outfit on. I'll send you my address.
Biting my lip, I hold in my smile. "Ok."
Ashton raises a brow and glances at the room again. "Are you sure you don't want to get a quick one in?"
"Patience, Ashton."
He growls and places a soft kiss to my lips, steps away and walks off to go back to work. I return to Aria's room and spends the rest of the evening with them.
That night Ashton texted me his address and I headed over. But not before setting some precautions and letting my friends know where I was and if I didn't call the next morning by 11 they should send for help. Ashton's house was beautiful and the second I stepped in his lips were attacking mine. We didn't make it to the bed until round three.
I can definitely get with this prescription.

Hero:Generation
UPDATES WEEKLY The world of Hero: Generation diverges from our own in the 1970s on a night known as “The Aurora Event”. Beautiful and luminescent weather phenomena covered the planet, for ten short minutes every corner of the Earth was underneath a cascade of lights in the sky. It was days later before reports began to filter in, more than could be suppressed by Governments and Nations. The Alphas had arrived. A small percent of the global population began to exhibit otherworldly and super natural abilities, changing the course of humanity. The Vietnam Occupation ended over night, as each ruling nation took action to respond. In the coming years Alphas would begin to change the globe. Russia eventually became an Alpha nation ruled by a mysterious figure only known as Father Winter. America, Europe, and Australia become even larger superpowers as their Alpha populations exploded, in time a United Nations force known as The Guardians was established to police and document the Alpha emergence. The worlds foremost expert in Alpha studies, Dr. Pavel Laghari invented a system known as the Laghari Scale, that scored Alphas on a scale of 1 to 10 across a wide array of parameters ranging from relative physical abilities to other parameters. Now, in most civilized countries Alphas are required to be assessed the moment their powers manifest, or be in strict violation of local and international laws. In this Age of Heroes , The Guardians have designed a new Initiative to recruit younger Alphas and set them on a path to greatness. Every year teenage Alpha’s from all over the globe flock to secure locations to take part in the Guardians crucible. Many will enter, but few will earn the right to call themselves a Guardian.

Ghostified City
‘Ghostified City’ is a post-dystopian sci-fi tale, set in a fading world that might be a future version of ours, running out on autopilot into oblivion. Adaman Yimmand is a simple robofactory operator in The City who's working with robots and machines every day. He doesn’t even realise that he might not have met another actual human being in years. Everything begins when he breaks his routine for once and enters a bar where he meets Evelith. This pesky other person does not let him go after he has had his -rather terrible- beer, because according to her actual humans are much rarer than he’s aware of. And from then on ‘the genie is out of the bottle and won’t get back in’, to use her words: Adaman meets more people, and gradually he has no choice but to accept that the reality of The City is not what he always thought it was, and to face the darkness of a fading humanity on the brink of self-inflicted extinction. Is there any hope left for him, and for his species? I have selected 'sexual content' and 'traumatising content' to be on the safe side, because there is a stripclub-like venue in the background of the story, and an almost-extinct humanity that has institutionalised suicide which might be disturbing to some. Apart from that it's not really a heavy 'adult' story.('Ghostified City' is my first long story in English as opposed to my native language Dutch, and an earlier version was published on my fiction blog 'Oranderra' until I stopped updating. This is a slightly altered version of the first series.)
