《Breathing ∞ Kol Mikaelson [1]》[26]

In the end, Emma did not get her tea to go. If anything, she ended up having a glass of burbon placed right in front of her. Not that she was drinking it. But according to Klaus, she loooked like 'she was in need of something much stronger'. As for him and his brother, well, she'd lost count of how many glasses they'd had by now.
"You would have loved it. All the parties, the glamour, everyone was carefree." Klaus told Emma as he and Kol reminisced over some memories from their past. In truth, it wasn't so bad being around them tonight. Even Kol seemed to be behaving, if you ignored some of his more flirtatious lines that she kept shooting down. But their stories of adventures and fun times together did help Emma take her mind off of her mother and their argument earlier in the day.
"Klaus, when have you gotten the impression I enjoy parties?" Emma asked with an amused smile.
"Oh come on, darling, you can't say you didn't have fun last night. I certainly can think of a couple of highlights." Kol pointed out with a smirk on his face.
"Well the first that springs to my mind is the highlight of you breaking Matt's hand." Emma retorted with a fake smile sent towards the Mikaelson.
"Oh come on, Emma. I am certain you had fun, at least up until then. I do remember you breaking your rule of no drinking for a glass or two of champagne." Klaus reminded her, making Emma shake her head in amusement. Of course he'd notice something as simple as the fact that she drank some champagne.
"Well, I had only one. The second wasn't as good, and it felt weird." Emma's nose schunched up as she remembered that second glass.
"I think the word you're looking for is drunk." Klaus teased, making her turn to him and smack his shoulder lightly with an offended expression on her face.
"I didn't get durnk on a single glass of champagne." She argued back before her own face morphed into a teasing smile as she had the perfect idea on how to get Klaus to leave her alone. "But what about you Klaus? I'm sure you have highlights of your own form last night?"
The look on her face made Klaus more than aware of where she was going with this. And it wasn't long before he was the one glaring at her. But on this occasion, the universe actually seemed to work in Emma's favour.
"Oh, I remember her from last night." Kol's comment made both Klaus and Emma turn their heads to glance at the door as a particular blonde walked through it and into the Grill. Emma couldn't hold back the laughter which bubbled past her lips.
"She's hard to forget considering she makes Klaus smile like a retriever happy to see his owner after a long day." Emma commented, revelling in the look she received from the hybrid at the comparison. If they were planning on teasing her throughout the night, she would certainly return the favour.

"She looks like a tasty little thing." Kol added on.
"Say another word and I'll tear out your liver." Klaus' words made Emma let out a sudden caugh as her own laughter hitched in her throat in surprise. This was better than expected. And it just kept going. "Caroline."
"Oh, it's you." Caroline paused as she regraded him, crossing her arms over her chest to show her displeasure of being forced to talk to him. Emma and Kol shared an amused look, both obviously having way too much fun with this.
"Join us for a drink?" Klaus invited.
"Hm..." Caroline pretended as if she were thinking about it for a moment, but her answer was clear long before she even gave it. "I'd rather die of thirst, but thanks."
"And she's got taste." Emma laughed in amusement although it did get her a pointed look from all three vampires. "Yes, yes, I know that the implications are that I don't since I did join them. Don't judge me, please." Emma laughed at her own expense, not really caring about the implications.
If she was judging her, Caroline gave no indication of it. Although, she also didn't give them much time to try and find out as she turned around, ready to leave and get away from Klaus. The rebuffal making the Hybrid only smile more as he watched her go. "Isn't she stunning?"
"She certainly looks good walking away from you." Kol replied, making Emma laugh once again.
"I'll take that as a challenge." Klaus replied, downing the rest of his drink before discarding the glass on the counter as he started to follow after the blonde vampire with confident strides.
"Oh how I wish I had your hearing to be able to hear him crash and burn out there." Emma joked as she moved closer, now occupying the space beside Kol that Klaus had left behind.
"Well, I personally am glad you don't." Kol's comment made Emma's head turn to him with a curious look in her eyes. "Because that way, I get all of your attention to myself now."
She couldn't help but smile as she shook her head at the attempt. If she had any of the burbon the two Mikaelsons had ordered for her, perhaps Emma would have blamed her next decision on the alcohol. Alas, she couldn't. And yet, she still said what she did.
"And what happens now that you do?" She turned in her seat so that she was fully facing him, her head leaning on her hand as she looked up at him with a coy look in her eyes. The victorious smile that spread over Kol's face was hard to miss.
Emma's laugh echoed throughout the Grill. It wasn't fake or acting, it was a genuine laugh, full of amusement as she watched Kol's face scrunch up as he evaluated the pool table before him for a moment. She didn't really remember how they ended up choosing to play a round of pool together, but they were there now.

And not only did Emma get to find entertainment from Kol skills at losing, but he himself seemed not only to enjoy the game, as well as the fact that their presence so close to Alaric and Meredith obviously didn't make the pair very happy.
"You know, losing to me in pool should probably be a sign you've had too much burbon." Emma teased, her eyes following Kol as he stepped away from the pool table and came to stand in front of her.
"And what would you say if I told you I'm just letting you win?" He asked with a teasing look in his eye. Emma raised an eyebrow at him, unable to keep herself from wondering if he was just covering up his loss or if it was the turth. Either way, she didn't really care. She was winning. And planned on continuing to do so.
"I'd say you're adorable." She answered while jumping down from the high chair she'd been sitting in while waiting for her turn. The action only brought her closer to him and she had to crane her neck to look up at the smile on his face. Kol had been called many things in life, but he had to admit, adorable was a new one.
"Well, if losing to you is the price I have to pay, I'd say it's worth it." He spent another short moment blocking her path as he looked down at her before ultimately moving and letting her walkto the table. As Emma leaned down to take her shot, he muttered, more to himself than to her. "Tonight is turning out as a great night for the Mikaelson brothers."
And whether Emma was supposed to hear it or not, it wasn't a question she asked herself. Instead, it made her think of something different all together. Instead of taking the shot, she straightened back up, a look of confusion and surprise spreading over her face. "It really is, isn't it?" She questioned.
"Don't act so surprised, darling." Kol chuckled at her reaction, the words making Emma shake her head at him.
Her eyes glanced to the side where Mr. Saltzman and Dr. Fell seemed to be playing their own game of pool. Of course, she'd noticed the glances they kept giving her and Kol. But until now, she perscribed it to nothing more but their nervousness around them. Motioning Kol to come closer, and trying not to laugh at how quickly he obeyed, Emma leaned closer to him as she spoke in a quiet tone. "How's Klaus' doing out there with Caroline?"
"She's enthralling him with stories of her childhood." While Kol's tone was somewhat mocking, just the choice of words made Emma even more suspicious. Having seen interactions between Klaus and Caroline before, the usual pattern would be for them to have already had an argument or a fight about whatever they disagreed on. And yet, Caroline was keeping him completely occupied.
"Something's happening." It wasn't a question, it wasn't a guess, no, Emma sounded completely certain. Kol didn't dismiss her, instead he glanced to the side over at Meredith and Alaric, noticing the silence between the pair. Like they were actively trying not to talk about something. "Think about it, Klaus completely occupied out there while you're in here? They're separating you."
"With what goal?" Kol asked no one in particular. Emma may be smart enough to figure out their methods, but not even she could know what fueled them in that particular moment.
"How about we find out?" Emma suggested, making the Mikaelson's eyes turn back down to her, an inquisitive spark in them. "I'm going to pretend I'm going to the bathroom. And you, well, you're going to do what you do best. Push some buttons." Emma suggested, glancing over at the adult couple who seemed oblivious to them and their planning. Well, at least flirting all night made this picture look like nothing new.
"Beautiful and smart." Kol complimented, making Emma send him a pointed look. But not even she could mask the small smile which appeared on her face. However, she didn't respond. She simply pushed away from the edge of the table on which she'd been leaning, leaving her cue stick on it as she started to walk away.
Wanting to seem oblivious, Emma pulled her phone out of her pocket. Not only would she look preoccupied (with ignoring the number of missed calls from her mother), but it would also be smart to get Klaus to snap out of his puppy love induced haze and realize something might be going on. However, as the phone continued to ring with no answer, Emma was left with nothing else to do but hang up as she turned back around, now further down the hall and seemingly gone.
Somehow, she wasn't surprised to see that the button Kol chose to push was flirting with Meredith. Something Mr. Saltzman certainly didn't appreciate. For a moment, Emma debated going back as he and Kol got dangerously close. It wouldn't be good for Kol to kill someone in the middle of the local hangout. However, before she could even fully make up her mind, the scene took a turn as a flash of metal caught her eye seconds before it was gone. A dagger... Now imbeded in Kol's chest.
"Shit."

8 115I Became a [Biologist] in a Fantasy World!
I loved Biology - always have, and always will. Unfortunately for me, years of fruitless research whittled away what little joy I had left in what I did. Escapism came in the form of reading isekai works, where the stresses of real life seemed so far away.Luckily, I was summoned to a fantasy world of magic, dragons, and other mythical beasts. I didn't even need to deal with the Demon Lord threat, since it seemed that my summoning was a mistake, and all they needed was the Hero who was coincidentally summoned together with me! There was no revenge subplot, no hidden trap directed against me, and they even paid me compensation for their mistake. At long last, I could finally do what I ever wanted to do - experiment for the fun of it!With my new class as a [Biologist], none of this fantasy world's mysteries will be left untouched. Even if the Demon Lord himself comes knocking, nothing will stop me from researching every nook and cranny there is to discover of the magical biology of this world! ----I write extremely casually, and purely for leisure. Updates will likely be irregular, depending on when inspiration strikes and whether I can spare the time to work on this. Don't expect too much out of this, and certainly not anything close to professional quality! Inspired by an overconsumption of Japanese light novels, manga, and anime... expect their influence to slowly but surely take hold.
8 213Abyssal Road Trip
Julia is a practical person. All she wanted was a home and family to call her own, a small piece of the world she could say was hers.Instead of arriving home one evening, Julia finds herself in the Abyss. Now she's not only far from home, she's trapped inside a cursed body. The curse may have caught her, but she certainly wouldn't let it or anyone else tell her how she has to live. It's not a hero that you have to watch out for, it's the practical person when you're in the way of their freedom. Hell is a place for the organised torment of the guilty in life while the Abyss is its sociopathic disorganised cousin. There’s darkness in the Abyss, and darkness within her that might draw it in. But she'll need to risk its strength, for to get out, she'll need to become strong enough to descend to its deepest reaches. Yet it's in those places that the most dangerous secrets lie in wait. These aren’t the type of secrets that are valuable, or that anyone wants to be found. These secrets destroy. Image by Comfreak from Pixabay This is my first story, and a work in progress. Feel free to point out any errors, and I will gladly fix them. The ending and the major plot points are all planned out. Julia's story is more of a slow burn, and she won't always be in trouble. There will be breathers between the action. Though the story is about Julia, she is not the only force in play. Her actions will affect others, and the actions of others will affect her as well. Chapter Releases presently on Tuesday and Friday - 18:30 Sydney Time (AEST)

The undead, bane of the living. The dead rise either in a grotesque natural fashion or by a necromancers hand.
8 176Parallels
Parallels are a constant in life. Our friends' lives often run parallel to ours; we share similar experiences or tastes- perhaps even both. Sometimes, however, opposites attract- and our lives run perpendicular. In that case, we are not attracted by similarities; rather, we are attracted to the differences in others. So, what happens when two parallels are broken apart? What might happen to them? Are they forever doomed to run alongside each other, never seeing one another, never meeting? Or, perhaps, might they be spun about? Could these lines that formerly ran alongside one another meet? Could they possibly be set perpendicular? Any feedback is welcome, so long as it is constructive. Also, you may not use any characters, ideas, places, or what have you that I present here without my explicit permission. A note: This is a story which I began over a year ago, but never got around to finishing- it feels about time to really get it going. Now, there are a couple of things about the story, and myself, that need to be said. First and foremost, there's a slow start, but by the third-fourth chapter things should be speeding up a bit. Secondly, in regards to release speed and/or word count per chapter, I make no promises- my schedule is fairly random, and in regards to word count, I will cut off any chapter at any point that feels appropriate to me- that may include cliffhangers, if necessary. I'm not trying to reach a specific word count, I am trying to create a cohesive story, with pseudo-appropriate chapter breaks. This means I will also not rush a half-baked release for the sake of getting a release out. Thirdly, I will make any edits, anywhere in the story and at any time, that strike me as necessary- typically being wording and/or formatting changes, but I may also decide to change major plot points- in that case I would put a notification in the next chapter released. Finally, and most importantly, I am a Christian; this story is intended to at least moderately reflect those values. So, if you particularly dislike any of these things, feel free to look elsewhere, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. God bless, friends.
