《Gifted • Inumaki Toge》n i n e

Sitting on the sidelines of the training ground, Shiro watched as Maki and Yuuta traded blows. Toge sat beside her as she quietly immersed herself in her own thoughts. Her mind wandered to the strange man yesterday and wondered the meaning behind his words. What does he mean I could do so much more? Am I missing something?
Toge watched Shiro as she was deep in thought. Confusion laced his concerned brown eyes, while he observed her face. He watched she furrowed her brows and curved her lips downwards. He wondered if something happened on her solo mission at the middle school.
"Fish flakes"
His two words brought her out of her own mind and she relaxed. I suppose there's no use worrying about it right now.
"Sorry" She apologized and gave Toge a soft smile. She easily noticed the look in his eyes, but decided to keep her meeting with the strange man a secret. There's no reason to drag Toge into this. "I'm just thinking about how grateful I am"
She gave him a soft chuckle. The sound of her laughter was like music to his ears. He laxed his tense shoulders in relief and tore his gaze away from her and back to the sparring duo, choosing not to press the matter further.
"What's taking Panda so long" She wonders out loud. While the two were here watching, Panda had stepped out to grab drinks.
"Hello"
Shiro and Toge jumped as they heard the familiar voice call out behind them.
Speaking of the devil. Shiro thought as she reached out for the strawberry milk carton from Panda's paws.
"Seriously, what took you so long?"
"Salmon"
"Heh, I couldn't decide whether to get Orange Juice or Lemonade." he gave them a toothy grin before pulling out two cans of juice. "So I ended up getting both!"

Shiro only nodded at her friend and looked back to the two out in the field. Yuuta has gotten pretty good with using his katana. Well for training purposes, he is using a wooden one, but compared to when he first started, he was growing quickly. He was almost hitting toe to toe with Maki, who was probably the most proficient in weapon combat out of the four of them.
As they both jumped in the air, Maki moved her body just slightly at a 15 degree angle, managing to avoid Yuuta's attack. She quickly twisted her arm and swung towards Yuuta as Yuuta was falling from his jump. She aimed the pole-like weapon at his neck and sends him a satisfied smirk.
"Heh, my win again."
Claps were heard at the sidelines as Maki walks back over to the group, hand reaching out as if asking where her drink was. Panda rummaged through the bag and gave her her sparkling cider and called Yuuta over to give him his green tea.
"Good work guys" Shiro cheered.
"Tuna mayo" Toge agreed. The two had both stood up from their seat and gave their joints a quick stretch.
"Anyway, I'm going to head out" Shiro said as she gave the group a quick wave. She pulled out her phone and started to press some buttons.
"Where ya going Shiro?" Panda asked her curiously.
"Yeah, we should train some more" Maki said, eyes not leaving the retreating back of the only other female classmate.
"I don't feel like training today" She hummed, "Also I have a meeting with sensei, he said he would to treat me to dinner"
As they watched Shiro's backside disappear within the distance, Panda suspiciously leaned into Maki's ear.
"You don't think they're having a..." He trailed off, as Maki gave him a dangerous look. Toge and Yuuta were both looking at Panda now, waiting for him to finish his sentence.

Panda coughed to clear his throat before nervously restating his words. "You don't think they're having a date right?"
"HAAAAH?" Maki hit Panda harshly on his shoulder, bringing his furry face closer to her own before yelling, "Are you joking? There's a good 10 year age difference between them!"
Panda purposely apologized as he felt his life drain from the violent shaking, curtsy of Maki.
Toge felt a tinge of pain in his chest as he imagined his teacher and Shiro happily on a date. Beneath his collar, he frowned. He was thankful his shirt was covering half of his face, so his classmates wouldn't see his displeasure. However, he was not as sneaky as he thought as Yuuta observantly noticed the change in demeanor within his short statured classmate, but decided against in saying anything about it.
With Maki and Panda sitll arguing in the background and Yuuta furiously trying to calm the two down, Toge quickly pulled out his phone to ask Shiro more about it. He couldn't describe this sense of uneasiness of being in the dark of Shiro and Satoru's supposed 'date.'
Meanwhile, Shiro was on her way to meet Satoru at her favorite restaurant. She had just hailed a taxi and gotten in the back of the car. As she sat down and closed the door, she felt her pocket buzz.
"HUH?" She inadvertently said out loud, startling the driver in the front. Uttering a quick apology she furiously started to type back.
"Who does he think I am? Do I have desperate written on my face or something?" She mutters, earning another look from her taxi driver. She sighed and looked out the window, enjoying the falling cherry blossoms outside.
Maybe I should look for a boyfriend or something. Within her 16 years of living, she had never had a friend, other than Toge, much less a boyfriend. I guess Toge's pretty cute. She smiled to herself as she imagined her white haired friend. But I don't know if I like him like that. Feeling another vibration, she looked down at her flashing phone, before opening up the phone to read the full message.
An urk mark appeared on her temple as she took in a sharp breath in order to calm herself down. I'm going to kill Panda. She thought to herself as her finger started to type.
With that final message, she tucked her phone back in her skirt pocket, and sat in the back of the taxi in silence for the rest of the ride, trying to enjoy the city view from the window.
