"Truth or dare?"
Red slightly loosened his collar around his neck.
"Yeah! what are you scaaaaared?"
Chuck mocked, swinging back and forth in his hammock.
"What? pssh noo."
"Well then, Red! truth or dare?"
Chuck leaned closer with curiosity.
"uum well.... Dare."
Red replied with courage. He shouldn't be worried, they definitely won't ever ask any questions that could possibly out his relationship with Leonard or the fact that he made the entire story of him fighting off Leonard, totally not. Hopefully.
"Oooh feeling brave ey? well then I dare ya... to make me a sandwich."
Chuck demanded with Red rolling his eyes as he stood up.
"Oh of course you would get me to do that..."
Red then disappeared into the kitchen, casually putting all the ingredients together as he glanced outside the window. It was pretty dark outside so it was hard to really see anything but Red could just see a glimpse of a small figure near the trees. Red squinted his eyes, curious about why someone would be out this late. As Red stared down the figure began to wave- right at him.
Red finally put two together and realised that wasn't any stranger, it was Leonard. Red softly gasped, hesitating on what to do. He quickly scrambled all the stuff together and slapped the bread on top, then grabbing the sandwich and turning around. To see Chuck there.
"Oh hey Chuck- look I'm really sorry but I gotta go..."
"Are you okay? Is something wrong?"
Chuck asked obviously concerned and worried.
"No no, everything's fine- perfectly fine- here!"
Red traded the sandwich into Chucks hands and sprinted past him.
"I just have to go, I remember I had to do something today- bye Bomb!"
Red raced into the living room, where he past Bomb, waving him goodbye as he ran out the door, leaving both Bomb and Chuck completely lost and confused.

"Goodbye?"
Bomb hesitated, glancing back at Chuck who knew something was definitely up.
Red raced down Chucks stairs, hopping over the last two steps and towards where he saw Leonard. As he turned the corner, he could now easily see Leonard with his arms wide open waiting for Red. A smile brushed over Reds face as he wrapped his arms around Leonard, hugging him tight.
"You're back."
"Did you miss me?"
Red looked up at Leonard with the meanest face he could muster but to Leonard it was just the cutest thing.
"You took way too long!"
Leonard couldn't help but chuckle, kissing Red on the forehead and pulling away from the hug.
"Aaaw I'm sorry, I missed you too."
Reds face suddenly matched his jumper as his hand was cupped by Leonard and was led back towards Leonards ship, where less people were around.
"Hey I got something for you."
Leonard said, reaching into a box.
"Oh and what could that be I wonder?"
Red asked sitting on Leonards fancy bed, peeking over Leonards shoulder. Leonard then faced Red again, hiding whatever it was behind his back.
"Now I know how hard it might be, for you, while we are apart, sooo."
Leonard then revealed a small rectangular box, it was mostly black with a reflective mirror on the front. Red held it in his hand in confusion. Seeing himself stare back at him through the box.
"What's this?"
Red asked, looking up at the too-cheery Leonard.
"It's a phone! This way we can talk to each other while we are apart."
"Really?! That's amazing... how?"
Red asked, looking at the black box. Leonard sat beside Red, pulling out a similar looking box. Leonard then tapped on the screen and a light suddenly shimmered through showing a bunch of numbers and colours all over the previously completely black screen.

"Woooaah! How did you do that?"
"It's simple, you touch the screen and it'll turn on."
Leonard turned over, watching Red cautiously tap his screen and seeing his phone light up with beautiful colours.
"And little button lets you talk to other people, and that one lets you call people- it's still a work in progress but my engineer says that it should be all good."
Leonard pointed at the little text button and phone button, amazing Red even more with such technology that he never knew even existed.
"Oh and let me show you something!"
Leonard turned on his phone, clicking a button with a camera on it. Once he clicked it, Red could clearly see both him and Leonard on the phone.
"It's a camera, so you can take photos whenever you want and with whoever you want, say cheese."
Leonard and Red smiled into the camera. It clicked and Leonard pulled up the photo of them both smiling.
"That's soo cool."
Red looked in amazement.
"Yeah. I'm going to make this my wallpaper."
Leoanrd then clicked another button and suddenly both of them were smiling from Leonards phone.
"Can i make that my wallpaper?"
"Sure, here."
Reds phone then suddenly chimed and once turning it on, he noticed he got a message. Inside was the photo of him and Leonard.
"This way, I'll never be far."
"Thank you... I love it."
Red pressed the phone against his chest, looking over to Leonard with passion. He leaned closer and gave Leonard a big hug, resting his head on his shoulder.
"I love you."
Leonard held him closely, rubbing his back in comfort. Red pulled away from the hug and looked into Leonards loving hazy brown eyes. They both leaned close and matched their lips together with Red rubbing his hand up Leonards arm.
"I love you too."
Red replied as Leonard brushed his fingers through Reds hair. It was short but passionate as Red looked up at Leonard with hope while he looked down, feeling guilty.
"What's wrong?"
Red asked, noticing Leonards eyes droop down.
"I have to go again soon... it might be awhile before i can see you in person again. That's why i gave you a phone."
"How long will you be gone?"
"Maybe a couple of months, maybe longer... when you're king, there's a lot of responsibilities you gotta uphold to."
Leonard chuckled, trying to cover his despair. Red held his hand in comfort.
"Well then call me whenever you can, or text me or whatever."
Red raised his hand to Leonard, letting Leonard leaned against Reds hand, feeling at ease around him.
"I will i promise. As soon as i can I'll let you know."
Red smiled and leaned forward, giving Leonard a sweet kiss on the cheek.

Shadows in the Dawn Mist
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] - Winner November 2020 When a young woman is lured back to her homeland for the opportunity of a life time, she must face old fears. But never would she think that facing up to her past would change everything. Is History written by the victors, or by someone or something else...? *** I started writing this a few years ago and eventually fell out of love with it. I never finished it and my newer books are being written in different writing style, and genre with a more planned process. I decided to revisit it for the writathon and found that it wasn't as hopeless as I'd come to think. Hopefully, I've improved as a writer since them so the consistency may vary. Its been good to revisit and analyse my writing which I feel used to have some clunky and obvious dialogue which I'm trying to fix. This will always be my first novel and I hope, with a little exposure, I may come to like it again. Thanks for reading!

Daily life of a cultivation judge
Tired of those cultivators who think it is righteous to eliminate a sect or clan root and stem all in the name of revenge and avoiding future troubles, fights over treasures that end up destroying cities with no consequence whatsoever to the culprit, these psychos whose aim for the peak always involves a trail of carnage and bloodshed in its wake for some reason. Then look no further than the daily life of a cultivation judge. Yang Qing, is a young genius cultivator from a low-tier family whose only safe choice to get resources and hopefully lead an easy life led him to the courts of the Cultivation Order Society. Author’s disclaimer: Hey there this is my first novel so any criticism will be well taken though beware I’m a million-year-old monster who has cultivated the way of the sword to the peak. The daily life of a cultivation judge will be true to its name so it will be heavily on the slice of life lane with a bit of action here and there.Meaning we will see the life of Yang Qing when he clocks in and out. Hopefully, it will be one of those novels you read if you need to relax or are in a slacker mood like one of those otakus who listen to the noises of cicadas in the summer famously used in most animes. And it is in the slacker spirit that chapter release will be on Wednesday,Thursday and Friday. Sank yuuu Cover art by Conny Schneider on Unsplash
