《The Cellphone Swap》Chapter 9

That's when I thought of it. I had the perfect plan, and o wouldn't let him down.
I was driving in the passenger seat of my moms car watching the cars roll by. And suddenly I thought of it. The perfect plan. I would take Matthew to the Colorado mountains. He loves it there and was always talking about going back. I would take him there and he would be happy. It could be like old times.
I was going to go meet Matt at a new cafe that opened up down the street. He always liked to try new things, that wasn't me though. I stepped through the door and found him immediately. Like always, a table by the window. I walk and sit down.
"Hey." He says.
"Got your bags?"
"Of course."
He leans over and kisses me. I smile and we both order chi tea lattes. We head to the car and I drive, all the way to Colorado.
We've got the windows down and the music blaring in the background. We're at a traffic light. That's when he looks over at me and says,
"I love you."
"I love you too."
There's tears in his eyes. "There's something I need to tell you, before I die."
"No no no! Do not speak like that. Your going to make it."
"Bridg- I want you to know that I love you. I've always loved you. And your going to meet a nice guy, who will always treat you right-." Tears roll down his cheeks as he chokes on the words. He's full out crying now, and I don't know what to do. "And you guys are going to love each other. You guys will have four kids, two boys and two girls. And you'll live in Michigan in a two story house. And one of the daughters is going to find her true love, and he'll be right next door but so far away that it hurts. You know why? Because that's how you know Love is real." I'm crying too now and he leans over and wipes them away. Beep beep. Cars honk their horns. I look back at him one more time and drive towards Colorado.

We finally get to the hotel. When it's dark outside. We carry our luggage in and fall on top of the bed.
"How are you tired?" Matt says.
"I literally drove for however long it too is to get here!" I yell into the pillow.
"Let's watch the sun rise." Matthew says crawling over to me. "We could watch it from the mountains. Oh we could make a little picnic out of it. Wine, cheese, burgers."
I laugh and elbow him playfully.
"And then we could go skinny dipping in the snow."
This makes me laugh more and I snort into the pillow.
"Or just watch the sunrise." I say turning over on my side.
"Whatever." He shrugs.
"Okay, come on!" I say grabbing his hand and running down to the elevator.
I run out and find a chair. We sit down and cuddle and watch the sun rise and the moon set. It's funny how you can look at things. It's just a sun rising and a moon setting but I looked deeper into that. I guess when ever something dies a new thing is born. It's the circle of life. Something has to die for another thing to live. I look over at Matthew as he watches the sun. We go back to the cabin and write down everything we plan to do.

Nameless Hypocrite
"Bastard, surrender yourself!" "You think you can escape our encirclement?!" "An omnicidal fiend like you can only atone in death!" Despite his precarious situation, a young man ignored the union's provocations. His violet robe was in tatters, showing the incredible number of attacks he received, yet there was no sign of injury. Noticing the light smile tugging at his lips, the pursuing heroes warily watched him, cautious of a final attack. It was only by working together that they could corner a monster like him. An arrow pierced the air, beelining towards the young man. A malicious gleam revealed itself in his eyes; he unsheathed his sword, a long, curved blade, and deflected the projectile, spiking it into the ground. The archer's eyes widened before being split in two. He died suddenly and indignantly. The group backed away; their former confidence diminished greatly by the invisible counter. It was then that the young man sighed, his voice full of lament and self-pity. "Being a saint truly is difficult, even the world cannot understand my righteous actions." The expressions of the surrounding heroes turned ugly. Such blatant hypocrisy! Yes, the protagonist is a villain. We don't do morals here. New chaps when I write them

Kichiro's Rampage
Meet Kichiro, the son of a samurai. A social outcast, he leaves his home with nothing but a musket and a sword, determined to carve himself a niche in a chaotic world of dragons and leviathans. This fiction incorporates LitRPG elements, but it's not set in a VR. It's set in a fantastical world based loosely on East Asia in the 16th and 17th Century, when the Ming Dynasty was on its last legs, with the addition of magic and monsters. I totally stole the stat tables from Exterminatus, the author of Everybody Loves Large Chests, so let me credit him for that. I'm new to writing so please don't hesitate to criticise, and reviews would be greatly appreciated.

Your Mundane Transmigration Into Another World
My second fiction here, it might be similar to the first, but I will focus on improving consistency as it was not very good. The idea is to make a completely ordinary isekai story, but make it right - no cliche, some originality etc. I do not yet know where it will go, but it will involve dungeons at some point, transmigraiton, demons, elves, humans, undead. I will strive for regular updates every friday, but my writing speed is that of a slime (not a native speaker), so I might not deliver every week. Feel free to write what you think, I welcome feedback. HIATUS - will continue after I am done with my other book, I am unable to write two at the same time.
