《Taking Tammy.》(10)

Louise stood before Tammy, looking like her usual doll-like self. Aidan was behind her, waiting to jump in whenever he felt necessary.
"All you need to do is apologize," Aidan had instructed her prior to the meeting. "Surely you can't mess this up."
Louise watched Tammy, hatred boiling in her eyes. "What's she still doing here, anyway?" she spat, turning to her boyfriend. "You told me she only worked Saturday's."
Tammy held in a laugh; Aidan was a serial liar.
"I'm not here to work," she retorted, winning a hard stare from Aidan. "I'm here to apologize."
Aidan smiled, approving Tammy's compliance.
"I'm sorry about yesterday," she started, lowering her head.
Both Aidan and his girlfriend smirked, the pair equally content with Tammy's submissiveness.
It was at that moment, the thought occurred to her, Tammy had nothing to be sorry about.
"Sorry that your boyfriend has no respect for you."
Tammy prepared herself for a slap across the face, if not from Louise than from Aidan.
However, as she glanced in his direction, she caught him with his head down and the biggest grin on his face.
Louise stepped back, squinting at Tammy like she was some piece of dirt. "You bitch."
Before she had a chance to react, Aidan made himself known. "Now, hey."
And then just like that, Louise found herself a new victim. "What is she doing here, Aidan? You seem to be quick to her defense."
Aidan shrugged; something he did quite a lot. "I told you, she works for me."
"Don't lie to me!" Louise snapped, her head twisting around. "I've seen the way you look at her. You're cheating on me."
Tears piled up behind her eyes and Aidan rolled his.

"I'm not cheating on you, baby," he said, pulling her into a hug. "Now, don't you think it's time we put all of this behind us?"
Louise nodded, sniffing back her cries.
Aidan pushed her away, no doubt sick of the pathetic whines. A grin came to his face; no dimples this time. "Good. Now kiss and make up."
"What are you waiting for?" Aidan asked, his eyes mirroring his excitement.
Louise wrenched, literally dry heaved. "You have to be kidding," she said between breaths.
"No jokes here," Aidan replied, his face hard. "In fact, I'm deadly serious."
With that, he pulled out a gun from behind his back.
Tammy's heart galloped in her chest as a hot sweat itched the clammy skin on her back. Her stomach twisted with fear, and a little uncertainty.
Not giving it a second thought, Louise stepped forward, pursing her lips tightly. "Anything for you."
Tammy took a step back, closing her eyes and not seeing Aidan jump in before his girlfriend had a chance to take over.
Their lips touched with no effort, and before Tammy had a chance to reject the assault, her mouth was sucked in forcefully.
As she tried to pull away, he bit down. The metallic taste of blood overpowered her mouth, and he stopped, dragging himself away.
He licked the traces of saliva from his lips before turning to his girlfriend, with the biggest grin pressed on his face. "Oops."
Louise's face twisted with disgust, "I knew it," she spoke, her mouth hanging open. "And with that little whore."
Tammy hadn't moved since Aidan had pounced on her. The kiss had caught her off guard, gluing her to the floor.
"Why would you kiss her?!" Louise screamed at him.
As much as she disliked the woman, Tammy couldn't help but agree. She hadn't been kissed in her life.
"She's a rat," Louise carried on, slating Tammy with as many insults as she could muster.
Aidan finally spoke, unbeknownst to Tammy who was still trapped in her own world. "She's prettier than you'll ever be."
Louise opened her mouth, ready to fire back at him.
It wasn't her words which shot out, though.
It was a bullet.

Law of Divine Gates
What is transcendence? There are those on countless planets who believe creation ended with them. The notion that they are God's chosen people, and nothing else existed beyond them became a firmly rooted ideal. An arrogant assertion you say? Well there you have it, ignorance is something mortals never have a lack of. This is not transcendence, to transcend is to explore the limits of existence, to constantly grow, and lay claim to all the universe has to offer. Transcendence is to not be constrained by ideals, or the planet of your birth, to transcend is to leave behind your Mortal shell, to challenge heaven's law, and formulate your own. Heaven would see mortals bowed in servitude until the end of their days, to reincarnate, and begin another lifetime of worship, giving praise to the gods. A young demon accidentally stepped through the gateway of endless possibilities, will he succumb to heaven's authority?

[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] "You have to survive, Adam. You have to win." This is not a story starring Mary, because Mary is already dead. She bled out on her front doorstep following a sudden three-day absence. Seven years have passed, with her little brother—Adam—now standing at eighteen years of age. Following his sister's death, he lived the life of a delinquent, wandering the grimy streets of the city of Steeldale. All it amounted to was years of street fighting experience, no proper home and an uncertain future at a second-rate university. Unbeknowst to him, the day before university, he will be thrust from Steeldale into a brand new world. It is a world where a cherry red sky gazes down upon a fragmented continent, on which civilisations from other worlds have been dumped like refuse. The souls of man leak from their fingertips, coalescencing into superhuman powers and horrible fleshy monstrosities. Tribes of refugees clash against each other, attempting to carve out a place in this unrefined space. With no choice, Adam must traverse this dangerous new world, with Mary's shadow following him every step of the way. This is my entry to the April 2021 Writathon. Chapters will be posted as I write them.
