《Never Die》Chapter 5

We soon arrived at a cliffside with a beautiful view of the ocean. I could hear the waves crashing against the rocks below, and some people might find it frightening but I found the noise very calming.
"Scarlett over here!" I turned to see Sam, Alan, and Edgar all standing in front of a sketchy looking set of stairs that had a big warning sign on it that said stay out. I walked over to them as I looked at the stairs and the sign.
"Umm guys what are we doing here what does this cliffside have to do with vampires? Also why are y'all hanging around these sketchy looking stairs? Can y'all not read the sign it says "Stay Out.'"
" Forget the sign. You said you wanted proof, now we're going to give you proof," Edgar said before he turned and walked on the sketchy looking stairs. Alan and Sam both following behind him.
"Are you serious I'm not clinbing down those things! They look like they could fall any minute! And I'm sorry but I choose to live!" I then turned around and began to walk away from the guys back to the boardwalk. I heard the guys walking and getting off the stairs.
"I told you she would be too scared. I mean she is just a girl. She needs to be back home painting her finger nails or some girly crap like that. Not out here going into a vampire lair. She is too weak for this," Edgar said.
I stopped dead in my tracks. Something snapped inside of me and before I knew I was turned around marching straight towards him.
"I will show you weak!" I said once I was standing right in front of him and I had pointed my finger in his face. I then walked passed them down the creepy stairs and into a cave.

"Wow," I said as I entered the cave. I was standing at the entrance and just looking at everything. This place was amazing and it strangely felt like home. I'm not sure why a cave felt like home but I wasn't complaining. In all the years that me and my dad have been moving around, nowhere has ever felt like home.
"Pretty amazing huh?" Sam asked.
"Yeah it is," I said in amazement as I looked around the cave.
"Back over there is where we killed our first vampire," Edgar said as he pointed over to what looks like an abandoned elevator shaft.
I just nodded my head I'm not really caring as I was too busy looking around the cave. "And what is all this?" I asked.
They all looked around the cave, "I guess their hang out area," Alan said with a shrug of his shoulders.
"Wait is this the first time y'all are actually looking at the place where they vampires you killed lived?"
"Yeah so?" Alan said.
"Why haven't y'all looked around before?" I asked looking at them surprised. This place is awesome, how could you not explore it?
"Oh I'm sorry we were too busy trying to kill the vampires that lived here and running for our lives to look around," Edgar said.
"Well you aren't doing either one of those things now so let's look around," I said as I started to walk around the cave and look at everything.
"Why do you want to explore it so bad?" Sam asked.
I stopped walking my back was to them so they couldn't see my face. I couldn't tell them this place felt like home. I had to lie to them. I turned around to face them and threw my arms out, " look at this place is amazing." I dropped my arms and started walking towards them. "Just think about it, all of this could be ours. This could become our hangout spot. A place where we can escape everyone and everything."

They all looked at each other taking in what I had said. I wasn't lying about what I said this could be our hangout spot. They just can't know that this place feels like home to me at least not right now.
I was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard Sam's voice, "Come on guys think about it. This place is cool and would be a really cool hangout spot and it would only be us!"
The Frog brothers looked at each other before nodding their heads, "I guess you are right," Alan said.
"This can be our vampires hunters headquarters," Edgar said.
"Holy crap! You are right this place would be perfect for that! No one ever comes over here so no one would ever mess with our stuff," Sam said excitedly.
'Not what I had in mind but it works,' I thought.
I decided to leave the dorks to their conversation about turning this place into a vampire hunters headquarters. I started walking around the cave to look at all the cool stuff. I then noticed a bookshelf which look like contained books, records, cassette tapes, and CDs. As I got closer to the bookshelf, I see it. A cool looking bottle sitting on one of the shelves.
I grab the bottle off the shelf and it seem to contains some type of red liquid. I went to pop the lid of the bottle but before I could I heard Sam's voice right behind me, "what do you got there?"
I jumped and almost drop the bottle. I turned around to see that they were all standing behind me. "Did we scare you?" Edgar asked with a smug look on his face.
"Yeah you did, but I think I'm more scared now looking at your face," I said which knocked that smug look right off his face.
"Whatever. What do you got there?" He said as he reached for the bottle. I quickly pulled it back out of his reach.
"I found it so it's mine," I said.
"Just let me see it damn it," he said as he yanked it out of my hands.
"Hey!" I yelled, "give that back!" I tried to go for it but he moved out of my way before I could reach him.
"Why? It is just a empty bottle." He said. I stop chasing him, shocked that he couldn't see that the bottle was completely full.
"Empty?" I asked.
"Yeah it is a empty bottle. Why do you want it so bad?" He asked.
I marched up right to him, "because I think it is cool." I then it ripped out of his hands, "I will be taking it home with me."
I then turned and marched out the cave and I could you hear the boys yelling after me not to take the bottle, because we didn't know what it used to contain.
I looked down at the full bottle and thought 'only if they knew that the bottle wasn't empty...' With that thought in mind I headed home because I had a plan and it was going to happen tonight.

Legends of Balarel - A Leisurely LitRPG
Glenn Redwood has longed to become an Adventurer since he was a young boy, and has focused every waking moment on that goal since turning 14. Answering the challenge of the Gods of Balarel, he has fought Monsters, Leveled, and grown stronger. Yet the day before his 16th birthday, the day he will earn his dream or lose it forever ... the Gods have made a wager. And no mere mortal wishes to draw the attention of the Gods. ***** This is my crack at writing a leisurely LitRPG. My focus is more on telling interesting stories set in a world where people live under a MMORPG-like ruleset enforced by the Gods, and less on writing another story where the MC gets massive stat boosts every chapter before heading off to wreck the world. There will be plenty of blue tables (it’s LitRPG!) but my Adventurers are just starting out. This fic is about the journey, not the destination, so expect everyone to Level ... leisurely. Updates: M-T-W-Th. I’ll post 3000-4000 words a day, or 12000-15000 words a week. If this posting pace ends up being too much for me, I reserve the right to slow posts down a bit. Inspirations: Blessed Time (Royal Road) Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In a Dungeon? (Anime) Trails in the Sky (JRPG Series) MC: My MC is a genuinely good person who’s both a talented warrior and tactically savvy. He prefers to solve problems without violence but will resort to force if necessary to protect his friends or innocent people. I’m tired of stories starring anti-hero MCs facing endless doom and gloom, so I wanted to write a nice guy with an adventurous spirit who helps people in a thriving fantasy world. That’s all.
