"Mommy! Mingi stole my backpack!"

"No, Minji took mines first!"

The two five-year-olds were running around the living room, chasing and holding each other's backpacks. You sighed as you walked to the place where the commotion was happening.

When the twins were nearing you, you waited for the right moment. When it finally came, you snatched the two backpacks out of their hands, making them fall over.

"Ow, Mommy, why did you do that?" asked Minji. "I told you two not to be running around this house, haven't I?" you snapped. The two children nodded.

"And stop taking each other's stuff. Here," you handed the green backpack to Minji and the purple one to Mingi. "Give the backpacks back and apologize."

"Sorry, Mingi,"

"Sorry, Minji."

The twins handed the backpacks back to their rightful owner. "See, that wasn't hard, was it?" "No," the twins said.

"Is Mommy being mean again?"

You turned to see your husband, Jaeyun, walking in with his briefcase. "Daddy!"

He placed his briefcase on the ground and extended his arms so the twins can run into them. He wrapped his arms around his children and smiled.

Jaeyun stood back up and walked to you, hugging you as well and placing a kiss on your lips. "Why didn't you come and save a couple of minutes ago?" you joked.

"I let you handle the fights; I handle the other stuff," Jaeyun replied, adjusting his glasses. You laughed and shook your head.

"Come on, trouble makers, let get you to school," he said, picking up his briefcase. "Say bye to Mommy first."

The twins ran up to you hugged your legs. "Bye-bye," they said. "Bye, you two; have a good day at school."

They ran back to their father and you waved as everyone walked out the door. You sighed, embracing the silence inside of your house.

Your phone started ringing and took it out of your pocket, answering it. "Hey, Mimi,"

"Y/n! It's been so long since I saw you!" your friend whined. "You saw me last week when we ate lunch together."

"I know, but it feels so long!"

You laughed at your friend's silliness. You were glad that your college roommate stayed your roommate for the remaining years and your best friend.

"I want to meet you up for lunch again today. I have to show you something important," said Mimi. "Oh, are you pregnant again?" you joked.

"Just come to a normal meeting spot at noon," Mimi said quickly. You laughed, knowing that she has four children already. "Will do, see you later." "Bye," You hung up the phone and started to get ready for work.

"So, what's so important that you have to show me?" you asked when you took your seat. Mimi scrolled on her phone and placed it in front of you. It was a news article.

Lee Drug Rapist Released Out of Prison After 10 Years

You picked up the phone and brought it closer to your face. "Am I reading this right?" you asked.

It was your ex-boyfriend from college, Lee Heesung. He was sentenced to fifteen years for raping multiple college girls. His half-brother, father, and the college dean were also arrested because of their involvement.

"I thought he was supposed to get fifteen years?"

Mimi shook her head. "He was, but he got released early for good behavior. But Y/n," "Yes?"

"Seonwoo knows people around this town, and he found out that Heesung was staying in the apartment near your house! You could go visit him!"

You shook your head. "No, I can't. I'm already married and have children. It wouldn't be right."

"But think about it! Don't you want some kind of closure? You two were only a couple for a few hours before he got arrested."

You nodded, remembering the day like it was yesterday. You sighed. "I guess I can go visit him on my day off tomorrow. What's his apartment number?"

After you drop the twins off at school, you drive to the apartment where Heesung was staying at. It was small and looked a little worn down. You parked in a visitor parking spot and took out the piece of paper that Mimi gave you yesterday. "Apartment C, Room 215."

You climbed out of your car and locked it. Then you made your way up the rickety stairs, holding onto the railing. You walked down the hall and finally found Apartment 215.

"You can do this, Y/n, you're just meeting your criminal ex. Nothing wrong with that, right?" you whispered. After one deep breath, you raised your fist and knocked on the door.

You heard rustling behind it and soon saw the knob moving. Eventually, the door opened and you were looking into the dark brown eyes you encountered ten years ago.

"Y/n, is t-that you?" Heesung stuttered. You smiled lightly and waved. "Yeah, it's me."

Heesung immediately wrapped his arms around you as tears were forming in his eyes. You were taken by surprise, but then you did the same.

"I missed you so much, Y/n," he said into your neck. "I thought about you every single day since I was sitting in that cell."

You felt a pang of guilt inside of your heart, but you just nodded and hummed at his words. Heesung released from the hug, grabbing your hand and pulling you inside his apartment.

It was cramped and dimmed, with worn-down furniture. "Sorry it looks like a graveyard in here; I would've organized a little if I found out that you were coming."

You nodded and placed yourself on the brown couch. Heesung sat next to you. He hasn't changed one bit since the last time you saw him, but his face showed a sign of oldness and stress.

"So, how did you find me?" he asked. "One of my friends told me that you were released and where you were staying," you replied. Heesung nodded and looked at you. "Why are you looking at me like that?" you asked.

Heesungn laughed. "I was just thinking. I can't believe you waited for me during all those years."

Waited? What does he mean?

You finally realized. You haven't properly broken up with Heesung, so he thinks you two are still a couple. The pang of guilt came back.

You took a deep breath. "Heesung?" "Yes?"

"I-I'm married now. See," you held up your left hand to show him your ring. You could see the shock and sadness on his face.

"I'm so sorry." you placed your head inside of your hands, immediately regretted coming to see him. But then, you felt his hand on your back. You looked up at him and he was smiling.

"Why are you smiling? I thought you would be mad?" you asked.

Heesung laughed. "Why would I be mad? You found someone that loves you, and I'm glad."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, stop worrying!"

You both laughed, releasing the tension that was building up. "So, how long you've been married?" he asked.

"Close to six years now. I met him in my last year of college."

Heesung nodded. "Got any kids?"

"Five-year-old twins. They are a handful!"

You two continued to talk for one more hour. He enjoy your company, and you were glad to finally have some closure.

Finally, it was time for you to leave. Heesung walked you to the door. "I hope we meet up again soon," he said. You smiled. "Yeah, me too. I'll see you later then."

"Will do. Tell Mimi I said hi."

"Gladly. Goodbye, Lee Heesung."

"Goodbye, Sim Y/n."
