《Metanoia》Chapter 27

You stood in nothing but darkness.
What... happened?
With the team -
Giorno had gotten to you first. Everyone else ran after him. Following the traces of your blood that the cat had made. They ran without a thought and sprinted to reach you.
With you -
Ocean Man.
Nothing happened. Ocean Man wasn't there, it didn't come out.
"Ocean Man."
You tried again, this time calling for it out loud and you waited. You didn't want to be alone. Not in the darkness that was suffocating you and surrounding you but your stand didn't come forward.
Don't leave me, why aren't you here?
With the team -
Narancia's purple eyes had dulled and his blood was pooling around you. Abbacchio and Bruno made it to you next after Giorno. Stepping in your blood, Narancia's blood, as they got closer to you.
Giorno was shaking and crying silently. He kept his head down while he kneeled by you. He had healed you fully but you had no movement. Salty tears ran down his cheeks and he felt his heart being flooded with guilt and self-blame.
You were on your back, surrounded by a large puddle of the crimson substance and the metallic smell filled the air. It made everyone sick to their stomachs.
Bruno had his back turned to you and stopped Narancia from seeing you.
"Let me see her!"
Bruno only felt his heart crack when he saw Narancia, it was your body, but you were gone.
"No. Keep looking for any signs of Diavolo. We need to stay on guard."
Tears slipped from his eyes as he blinked. Abbacchio had turned to stop Trish and Mista but he only managed to stop Mista while Trish shoved him out of the way forcefully.
"Hey! Move it!"
Mista yelled at Abbacchio and pushed against him. The Sex Pistols flew past Abbacchio and Bruno while Mista was left behind.
Your chest wasn't moving and Fugo scampered towards you.
He pawed at your stomach while looking at your face. His fur was on edge and his ears were sharp, his claws dug into your side and he head-butted you repeatedly. Begging for you to get up. He could feel the pain and emotional hurt, but no tears came. Cats can't cry. He couldn't cry.
Mista and Narancia found their way past Bruno and Abbacchio and stood over your body. Narancia's body. Trish for the first time couldn't look at you. She refused to.
"No. No Giorno healed her. She's just taking her time."
Trish was in denial and kept shaking her head. She tried hard to convince herself you weren't dead. She swallowed thickly and her throat started to burn as she held her arms. Rubbing them and comforting herself.

Abbacchio didn't stop his tears. He knew it would be disrespectful not to be truthful with his emotions when it came to you, so he let himself cry silently as he stood over your body.
Bruno was holding a kicking and screaming Narancia.
"Stop it! She's alive! Just give CPR like she did to Abbacchio!"
His voice was cracked up and no one could look at him, not when it was your face. He could barely see himself on the ground through the tears. He could only see blurs of red, yellow, and orange.
"Y/n. G-Giorno healed you. You can wake up now."
Mista had fallen to his knees at your side. His voice was quiet and soft but shaking as he grabbed one of your hands and held it. It was cold. He rubbed the back of it with his thumb and kissed it.
"It's ok Y/n... you can wake up."
Tears streamed out of his eyes and he blinked to clear up his vision but it quickly clouded up again. His chest physically hurt from the amount of heartache that consumed him.
Giorno slowly looked at Narancia who had broken out of Bruno's hug and ran to your side.
"S-See! She's moving! She's not dead stop acting like she is!"
Narancia pointed at you while a shaky grin appeared on his face and everyone collectively looked at Narancia, to see your last smile that broke their hearts. They listened to your voice and savored it. It was beautiful, it was the last time they'd hear it.
"No. Narancia. Your soul is only returning to your body..."
Giorno spoke softly with a broken heart and kept looking at your body that was standing next to you.
"Y/n's already gone..."
Narancia was shaking his head and denying it but Giorno watched as your eyes went dull and your body started to collapse. Before you could hit the stone ground Trish caught you.
"No!"
Trish screamed while Narancia gasped and sat up in his body, Mista let go of his hand and looked at you. Trish laid you down and grabbed your shirt. Screaming at you and sobbing.
"No! You aren't dead! Wake up! Don't leave me here! Come back!"
Giorno walked over and pulled Trish away from you. Everyone was crying except for Fugo who physically couldn't.
Your lifeless eyes were looking at the sky and the clouds. The grey sky fitted with your eyes. Both were bland and emotionless. Your hair was in your face and Bruno walked to you. Everything was silent for him. Everyone's crying and screaming was just background noise as he kneeled beside you.

He reached out and gently brushed your hair out of your face. Slowly leaning down and placing a gentle kiss on your forehead. He made it last.
"I'm sorry."
He whispered softly and closed your eyes. He couldn't look at your bland eyes anymore. No one could.
Fugo walked over to your body and towards your face. His ears were down and he gave you short kitty licks on your cheek, he wanted to kiss your cheeks but he couldn't. He licked away the tears Narancia had left on your cheeks, he wanted to wipe them away but he couldn't. He wanted to hold your hand again, to walk on the beach with you again but he couldn't.
Mista made his way towards you and held your hand. It was soft. Soft but cold. The Sex Pistols were sitting on your stomach, using your shirt as a giant tissue. Number five had cried so violently he passed out.
I never told her she was beautiful. I was supposed to tell her that when I saw her again.
His grip on your hand tightened and his shoulder started shaking. He looked at you face and bit his lip harshly, choking on his words.
"You're beautiful Y/n. I-I'm sorry I never told you before."
Narancia sat in his blood, he was crying so hard he made no noise and he could barely breathe.
"I was supposed to save your life. I-I was supposed to save you. W-We were supposed to be happy."
Narancia could barely speak and no one could make out what he said. He wiped his tears while looking at you.
"You're supposed to be my angel, n-not one in heaven."
His voice was broken and cracked up while his heart was shattered and thrown in the trash. He couldn't do anything but look at you.
A pale white mist started rising from your body and everyone watched. Polnareff watched everyone reacting to your death and could feel the heartbreak. He felt the same thing years ago.
The mist faded and the coliseum was silent.
"This is your fault!"
Everyone looked at Abbacchio who had broken the silence. Abbacchio has tears of anger and pain as he pointed at Giorno.
"You said she wouldn't die! LOOK AT HER!"
Giorno stayed quiet. He didn't protest or deny.
"I hope you know that this is on you!"
"Abbacchio."
Bruno spoke up and looked away from your body.
"It's on all of us, not only Giorno."
He turned his back to everyone.
"None of us could protect her. None of us could save her."
Abbacchio was grinding his teeth while he furiously wiped his tears away.
"Don't forget what we came here to do. We need to find Chariot."
Silence took over once again and everyone's crying had either stopped or was quiet.
"A-Are we just going to leave her here Bucciarati? A-Are we going to leave Y/n?"
Narancia spoke up and looked at Bruno's back. Mista gentle scooped up the Sex Pistols off your stomach and stood up. Bruno didn't say anything or look at anyone.
Giorno walked to you and looked at you. His heart was heavy and he picked you up. He held you like you were glass. Like you would shatter at any moment.
"I'm sorry I couldn't protect you Y/n. You've helped me with my dream, you sacrificed your own dream to help mine. I-I'm so sorry."
Giorno looked at your face and his tears dripped onto your shirt. His voice was quiet. Your head had fallen back and Giorno walked to a wall. He set you down in the shadow of the wall and Mista, Abbacchio, Fugo, and Narancia walked to you.
"We'll come back for you Y/n. I'll take you home."
Giorno put his hand on the ground and a bed of vines started growing around you, small flowers blooming along with them.
"I promise."
He took his hand off the ground.
"Fugo."
Bruno spoke up and Fugo looked at him.
"Stay with Y/n. Don't-"
He couldn't finish his sentence and looked away.
"Don't let her be alone."
Fugo nodded and Mista picked up Polnareff. Everyone but Fugo walked away from you and started jogging out of the coliseum to catch up with Chariot.
Fugo looked at you and crawled onto you. Curling up on your stomach and starting to purr. Trying to comfort himself. Even if Bruno hadn't said what he did Fugo wasn't going to leave you there alone. He couldn't.
With you -
You took a step forward and began to walk through the darkness, a small light caught your eye and you turned to look at it.
...I'm dead. That's the light. I'm... dead.
You stayed still and looked at the small light in the distance. Your heart slowly sinking and you felt so small.
I'm alone.
