《Theirs》Chapter 3

A/N: Another heads-up. As I've mentioned before, English is not my first language, so I'm not that good at describing things. And because of that, I'll be using a lot of pictures. Like, a lot lot. So make sure to have connection while reading this book if you don't want to miss any of the pictures.
...
I currently had my face in my pillow while I screamed at the top of my lungs.
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. You're so fucking stupid!
I lifted myself on my elbows and breathed in.
"How could you let your anger control you like that?! You were still in the fucking building where you fucking work! Well, probably don't work by now!" I yelled at myself and slumped back onto the pillow.
There was loud opening and closing of the door and I immediately knew it was Lyla.
"KATE!" She yelled and aggressively opened the door of my room.
"What?" I grumbled in defeat and sat up.
"Guess what happened." She said excitedly.
"I got fired. Woohoo." I said in a bored manner.
"What? Of course not. You think I'd let you get fired for no reason? Hell no!" Lyla immediately protested.
I felt like a weight had been lifted off of my shoulders. I jumped on Lyla and hugged her. Then I pulled her to my bed and made her sit down.
"Thanks Ly. I owe you one." I said happily.
"Good thing there will be plenty of opportunities to return the favor now." She said excitedly.
"What are talking about?" I said in confusion.
"You have been promoted Kate!" She squealed.
"WHAT?!" I screeched. "How?!"
"Well, after Tharion and Draco saw it was actually Melanie's fault, they were very pleased with how calmly and professionally you handled the situation and have decided to give you a promotion." She explained giddily.

"Aaand? What is my new position?" I asked impatiently.
"You will be my assistant!" She exclaimed excitedly and wrapped her arms around me.
"What?! You mean we'll work together?! As in, right next to each other?!" I yelled as I slowly started to jump in place.
"Well duh. How else are going to assist me?" She said with a big smile.
And then I remembered something.
"Wait. They aren't mad at me for acting like I did in front of them?" I asked carefully.
"Nope. They were more amused really. I mean you just acted on impulse you know. You tried to defend yourself and there's nothing wrong with that." She explained. "If it was Blaze, he'd definitely jump in to help you. Unlike his brothers." She added with a sigh.
I smirked proudly.
"What can I say. We're like a family now. Of course he'd defend me." I said with a big, proud smile.
But then her words actually downed on me and I remembered a very important detail.
"Holly shit! I completely forgot they're related!" I yelled in realization.
"I see your brain is still slower than a snail." Lyla said with a laugh. "Well I'm off. Blaze wants me to stay at his place tonight. I just came to tell you the good news." She added.
"'Kay. Have fun and make lots of babies." I teased and gave her a flying kiss.
She immediately glared at me and flipped me off. I laughed loudly and laid down on my bed.
"See ya!" She yelled from the living room.
"Bye Ly!" I yelled back.
The door closed and silence came again. But this time I felt at ease.
Tomorrow is going to be a good day.

I smiled to myself and closed my eyes. Darkness soon engulfed me and I was in dreamland in no time.
...
I was looking at myself in the mirror when the front door opened.
"Kate! You awake?" Lyla yelled.
"Yeah!" I yelled back, but not too loudly since the door of my room was opened.
There was some shuffling and then I heard Lyla go into her room.
"Hey there little warrior." Blaze said cheekily, popping out of nowhere.
"Blaze!" I yelled in surprise and immediately hugged him.
"Okay. Now you're crushing me." He said through laughter.
I pulled away and smiled at him. Blaze is Lyla's only boyfriend I ever acknowledged because he brought out the real Lyla. Something none of her exes could ever do. Plus, he was literally like a brother to me. How can you not love him.
"I see you're looking beautiful as ever." He said and gave me a once-over.
"Why thank you fine Sir. You don't look so bad yourself." I said, pretending to lift my imaginary dress and bowing slightly.
He chuckle and then we heard Lyla calling us.
"I'm ready! We can go now!" She yelled from the living room.
Blaze walked out and I looked at my reflection one more time. Then I followed him to the living room. Lyla already had a disapproving look.
"Kate. As much as those pants fit you perfectly, we have a meeting today. And you know we have to wear skirts when there are meetings." Lyla said.
"What? No!" I protested immediately.
I. Hate. Skirts.
"Kate." Lyla said threateningly and gave me a pointed look.
I groaned and flapped my arms around.
"Come on Kate. Go change. We don't have an entire day." She said and shoved me into her room since I don't own any skirts.
I groaned again and grabbed the first white skirt I saw. Then I put it on and I already felt uncomfortable.

Don't get me wrong. Lyla's skirts are gorgeous. I just don't like wearing them. I grumpily walked out of her room and continued to walk towards the front door.
"You should've just let her wear her pants." I heard Blaze say.
"And then listen to your brothers' yapping all day? No thanks. You know how strict they are when it comes to the dress code." Lyla immediately replied.
I groaned inwardly because I know that too.
But why skirts? God knows how many perverts are going to look at me today. Especially at the meeting. All those shameless ancient geezers. Ugh! Just thinking about it makes my blood boil.
I walked towards Blaze's car and waited for him to unlock it. Once he did I sat at the back seat. The two lovebirds sat at the front and we headed to the company.
