《Bloodstained (Thorin x OC)》The Battle for Dale

Over a hundred dwarves trotted out, riding on giant battle rams, and began to march on the elves, causing Thranduil to order his elves to fire on his command.

"Thranduil, this is madness!" Gandalf pushed through the ranks with Agarwaen behind him. Thranduil ignored them and ordered his archers to loose their arrows, which were quick to fill the sky and fly towards the dwarves.

Dain gave an order in khuzdul, and the sound of machinery sounded behind them. Agarwaen watched with wide eyes as giant spinning arrows ascended from behind his ranks and flew right at the assault of arrows, completely demolishing them.

Even though the spinning arrows were aimed at the elven front lines ahead of them, Agarwaen still pulled Bilbo behind her to try and protect the hobbit. Many of the elves fell back and were either injured or killed in the counter attack, but more stepped forward to take their fallen soldiers' places.

"How do you like that, the old twiddly widdlies?" Dain laughed down from the hill as his ram riders continued forwards. "Ya buggers!"

"Leithio!" Thranduil yelled again, and another set of arrows flew, only to be shredded again and the ranks were assaulted for a second time. The archers then fell back as the goats neared, and elves with pikes and shields stepped forward to build a wall, aiming the pikes at the oncoming force.

As much as Agarwaen didn't want to fight, she still drew her sword, knowing that it could very well come to the matter of kill or be killed. The goats leapt into the elven ranks, their riders swinging hammers and axes, easily demolishing the elves as they went. Even though elves were skilled, these elves had not seen war for quite some time, and were no match against hammers that weighed more than they did.

"Whatever happens, Bilbo, stay by me." She yelled over the noise of armor being crushed, hooves stomping, and metal clashing. Looking down, she saw Bilbo nod whilst holding his own little sword, his hands shaking slightly.

It was then that Agarwaen could feel it. The ground shook beneath her feet, and not because of the battle, no. This was coming from the south. She looked in that direction as slowly the noise of battle died down and everyone looked toward where the shaking and new noise was coming from.

When the first creature rose from beneath the ground, she jumped. It was the fabled were-worms; the earth eaters. Two more erupted from the earth, crushing stone in their star-shaped mouths before disappearing back down into the holes they came from.

A horn sounded from atop ravenhill, making Agarwaen turn her gaze in that direction where she found war flags and none other than Azog the Defiler.

Orcs flooded out from the freshly made tunnels, and ran straight for the mountain.

"The hordes of hell are upon us!" She heard Dain yell, leading his ranks away from the elves and to the real battle. "To battle! To battle, sons of Durin!" Agarwaen looked to Thranduil, who just sat upon his elk silently. Elves all around them waited for an order, but he wasn't giving one.

"The elves..." Bilbo started. "Will they not fight?"

"I'm going out there." Agarwaen put on her helmet and was about to push her way past the elven ranks.

"Wait!" Gandalf grabbed her and looked to Thranduil.

"Gurth anin yrch!" The elvenking finally yelled, and the swordsmen charged after the dwarves, who had already built a pike wall against the orcs. They then leapt over the dwarves and charged the orc ranks, slaughtering all in their path before the dwarves joined the fray.

Agarwaen stayed with Gandalf and Bilbo while Thranduil's troops marched forward, feeling like there had to be more to this. Azog wasn't stupid, and one army against three didn't stand very good odds. Her suspicion was confirmed when from atop ravenhill, she heard the orc yell in black speech to attack the city. Her head turned to Dale. That was where all the women and children were.

"Gandalf, we have to go!" She shouted. "Bard!" The man turned to her. "They're heading for Dale!" Bard's attention turned to the city and a look of fear overcame him.

"All of you, fall back to Dale! Now!" He ordered his troop, and they immediately took off toward the city, Agarwaen with them.

Running as fast as she could, she soon surpassed the men of Laketown, and entered soon after Bard, who rode in atop his horse. People rushed past her, and not a moment later, what they were running from turned around the corner. A group of about fifteen orcs charged her, and she prepared for battle, assessing their armor and weaknesses. The first one had it's neck slit, the next was impaled through the side. She dodged each of their swings, taking all of them out one at a time in a blur of silver glowing metal. Coming out with only a scratch on her left arm, she pressed on, running through the streets, slaughtering orcs wherever they stood.

It was the cries of a child that made her stop and look around. A boy, no older than seven sat crouched behind an old flower pot, trying his best to remain quiet and hidden.

"Where is your mother?" Agarwaen asked with concern. He must have been separated from his people in the chaos of the raid. The child only looked at her with fright, not answering. She sighed and threw her helmet down, ending up forgetting about it for the rest of the battle.

"I am here to help. Do you know where your mother, or anyone else is?" She asked again. He shook his head. "Come with me. I will protect you." She held out her free hand, which he hesitantly took. She ran with him in tow now, looking around corners before rounding them and taking the safest paths through the city, looking for any sign of other people.

An orc then jumped down in front of them from a rooftop, and swung his sword at her. She ducked and swung at his legs, delivering a decently sized cut. He howled in pain, attracting the attention of more orcs down another street. She quickly ended the first's life with a slice to the neck, and moved on to defending the boy from the other five that came rushing at them. As soon as they all lay bleeding out on the ground, she continued to tug the child along.

Turning down yet another street, completely confused as to where she was even going, she finally found a group of women running for their lives.

"Wait! Take him with you!" Agarwaen stopped them and handed the boy off. More orcs rounded a corner and charged. One of the women took the boy's hand and they continued to run, but Agarwaen stood her ground. There were about thirty this time, and she might not survive it, but she could try. They were upon her all at once, swinging clubs and maces as she cut them down one by one. The wind was knocked out of her when one managed to hit her torso with a mace, but she stumbled forward once again, determined to kill them all. A flash of light to her right caught her eye, but she couldn't spare a glance, not until she took out the last two with one swing of her sword at throat-height. She turned to see Gandalf, armed with his staff, and Bilbo with his bloodied sword.

"You can't tell me to stay behind you no matter what, and then just rush off into battle like that." Bilbo huffed.

"Sorry Bilbo." Agarwaen apologized. "Just...stay with Gandalf. He's more your speed." She smirked, earning a glare from the wizard before the three then continued on, running further into the city. The air smelled of smoke and blood, and a combination of screams, cries, and clashing metal filled their ears.

Lifeless eyes stared up from the ground belonging to men, women and children littering the streets and joined by the bodies of orcs. The bottom of Agarwaen's boots were stained red, and her armor was dented, yet she ignored both facts and carried on with the same amount of energy she'd started with. Some orcs she killed with arrows, but she relied mostly on her sword against the foul creatures, finding the melee exhilarating.

Upon reaching the old marketplace, they found the place completely overrun and in the heat of battle. Agarwaen set her jaw and leapt directly into combat, aiding the men who could barely hold their own and forcing the orc forces back. She saw Bard amidst the battle briefly, but it was only for a moment, and she didn't see him at all after that.

She charged the remainder of the retreating orcs with a battle cry, several of the men following her to finish them off. By the time they succeeded however, more orcs were flooding the place. They seemed to be endless.

"To the last man!" Agarwaen shouted above the clamor and led another charge against the orcs. The forces clashed violently, and she slowly worked her way in, shoving orcs aside so she could stab and slice at others. She felt metal nick her face, and blows delivered to her torso and arms, but she ignored it all and kept swinging.

It felt like the fight had been going on for hours now, the orcs never letting up at least a little. Elves eventually began to flood the city as well, aiding the numbers, but still barely doing anything to make a dent in Azog's forces.

"Fall back!" She heard Bard yell from somewhere nearby. "Fall back!" She felt conflicted, not wanting to give up yet, but she knew that she would not be able to continue on alone. She began to retreat alongside the men, finding Gandalf and Bilbo along the way.

"There's too many." She bent over, trying to catch her breath. Another horn from atop ravenhill sounded, and she looked around for any way to see the battlefield better. She ran out onto a north-facing bridge and looked down at the battlefield before the mountain. Only a couple hundred dwarves remained and were retreating back to the mountain. Thousands of orcs in ranks gathered before the dwarves and waited for a command.

"They're going to be slaughtered." She breathed. There was no possible way they could win this now. Not even with every elf in Mirkwood or every dwarf from the Iron Hills on the battlefield. But she wouldn't let herself give up. She couldn't. Not until her last breath left her body. She was about to climb back down and figure out what her next move would be, when a different sounding horn blew, this one coming from Erebor. She looked back toward the mountain and a grin spread across her face when the wall the dwarves had built came crashing down after being impacted by a giant golden bell. She could just make out the forms of the company rushing out to battle, Thorin leading them as the remainder of Dain's army fell in behind him.

"We may yet have hope." She muttered, now filled with new energy as she began to climb back down.

"The dwarves, they're rallying!" Bilbo said as he ran out on the bridge with Agarwaen, soon followed by Gandalf who then spoke up.

"They're rallying to their king."
