《Our Toxic Love》4.

The Great Hall fell silent when Dumbledore bellowed Harry Potter's name one last time. I watched as Harry began to walk forward. Every set of eyes were on him, how did he do it?
The Hall errupted in whispers as soon as Dumbledore and the professors escorted Harry out of the Hall along with the other champions. Slowly the whispers were no longer so quiet, houses shouting to and from each table. I struggled to make out anything but I could hear random words and I can't say they were good. Harry seems to of pissed off a lot of people. I decided to get out of the hall as all the noise was giving me a head ache, it was actually quiet nice for once to be in complete silence in the Slytherin Common room. To hear the logs on the fire cracking and the light wind blowing through the single pane windows. However my silence was broken by the sound of a slamming door behind me, I jumped straight out my skin and a small gasp escaped from my mouth. I spun my head round so quickly to see who had interrupted my peace to find the boy.
"Oh, sorry you scared me" my knees suddenly weak unable to stand. My heart was in my throat, for a boy I knew nothing about. The effect he had on my body was astronomical.
I caught his gaze looking me straight in the eye, this time he couldn't deny me of his words. He had to speak. It was just me and him. But I was wrong with one final look that felt like it could penetrate through me I realised he wasn't shy or afraid he was rude and he was arrogant. No more than eye contact from a boy I'd had several run ins with. Suddenly I felt the butterfly's in my stomach turn to anger. Before I could absorb what was happening my mouth was moving and I was getting up on my feet faster than the speed of lightning.

"Excuse me! So you can stare at me but I can't get a simple hello?" The moment the last word left my mouth the wave of regret came crashing over me, my eyes wide and my heart beating so fast I could swear you could see it through my chest. With one swift movement he's eyes where back on me, I suddenly felt very exposed and my knees weaker than before, I took a deep breath and tried to strengthen my wobbling chin.
"Are you always so aggressive?" His voice was so smooth, like velvet pouring out his mouth. He didn't have the nerves I had, you could see by his stance and the way he moved his lips as he spoke. The words were no longer as confident to leave my mouth as my previous statement.
"W-what?" I fumbled
"I said, are you always so aggressive? I'm not used to being insulted by complete strangers." He crossed his arms over his chest and with the smoothest movement began to lean on the doorway. His face had formed a half smirk as if he knew his intimadation was crumbling me.
"Well-I- No, I wouldn't necessarily class myself as an aggressive person..Are you always such an arrogant arse?" My confidence somewhat didn't match my words as I nervously pushed my hair out of my face.
He pushed one small laugh out and looked me dead in the eye.
"Yes" and with that he was gone.
The moment he walked out the door I regained my ability to breathe again. I threw my head back and released an irritated huff. What an absolute dick!

The next day my head was still full of yesterday's encounter. No matter how much I tried I couldn't seem to get his body movements, his smirk, his unbelievably cocky attitude out of there! What could possess someone to be like that? The more time I spent here the more I was beginning to think that everything Dumbledore had said wasn't true, for all of the Syltherins I'd introduced myself to not one of them seemed to have a good heart. I slowly made my way down to the library, I decided despite my best effort's to make friends here the only thing I could truly control was my grades so I found myself in the library most days and most nights.

The moment I turned the corner into the library I noticed a familiar face, One of the only ones that seemed to give me the time of day in this place. Harry's expression when he saw me was so warming, I saw his eyes light up then followed by his smile. As he started to stand he managed to catch his foot on his chair causing a magnificent crash of his chair hitting the floor followed by Harry. I couldn't help but burst into laughter.
"Oh my goodness, maybe you are worse than me" I could barely see from the tears forming in my eyes from pure laughter. Harry's laughed roared round the library to which we were instantly sushed by a neirbouring Slytherin table.
"Shhh! God some people actually have to work hard at school not just get everything given to them on a silver plate Potter!" I recognised Blaise's voice before I saw his dirty look piercing into Harry.
"Shut up Blaise, it was clearly an accident." I rolled my eyes at him.
"Ooooo has Potter got a little girlfriend. I knew she wasn't a proper Slytherin, now look at her hanging out with the likes of him." He sniggered to the rest of his group.
"If you think stating that not being a stereotypical Slytherin cock is an insult to me then you're very wrong." I spun round quickly and immediately felt the burning daggers in my back. I gave Harry a quick reassuring smile and just as I was about to take my seat I was disturbed by a hand forcefully leaning on the table. My eyes trailed up the body to see who it was and to my complete surprise it was him. The boy.
"Well what have we here, trying to work how not to die in your first task Potter. I don't see much point in trying of course you're going to lose." He let out a large laugh which chorused with his minions behind him. Then his eyes were on me "Helping the enemy are we Ivy?" As soon as he spoke my name a rush of adrenaline burst through my body. How did he know my name? Does that mean he had been asking about me? Or was it just he had seen my name on my text books or I had been mentioned in a casual conversation. Despite my best efforts to have something to respond I was left speechless for a moment. Just that he knew my name for some reason had sent my head into overdrive.
"Please forgive but I don't know your name? Perhaps you could tell me who are before you start making accusations" I raised my eyebrows and crossed my arms.
"Ha! Who are you trying to kid you don't know who I am". He broke the distance between us until his body was so close I could smell his aftershave, see each speckle in his eyes and worst of all the soft texture of his lips. By the smirk he was pulling and with his tongue licking his lips I knew he had seen my eyes dart around his face taking in each feature.

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14
