《delivery girl》Ch.58

Eli was expecting to go about his usual morning schedule. Wake up, get ready, drop Yena off with the sitter and then walk to school.
But here he was, sitting in the passenger seat of an expensive car with (Y/N) in the driver's seat and Huo in the back. They were currently in the line of a drive-thru, getting an unhealthy breakfast at Huo's request.
They were probably going to be late for school.
"Wait, so the person you're supposed to be guarding is the new girl?" Eli asked.
"Do you listen to anything she says?" Huo scoffed in the back, kicking Eli's seat, not bothering to give (Y/N) a chance to answer.
"What? I- Of course I listen!" The blue-haired boy said indignantly.
"Are you sure? Because you sure do seem distracted this morning." Huo says accusingly, kicking the back Eli's seat again.
Eli turned around in his seat and narrowed his eyes at Huo.
"Why are you even here?" He snaps.
"I'm getting breakfast."
"You're not even getting breakfast! You're getting a burger and fries!"
"Don't judge m-"
The bickering was interrupted by the car's horn honking, making everyone in the car jump. Even (Y/N), who had apparently tried to use the steering wheel as a pillow.
"Shit, sorry." She mumbled, rubbing at her eyes.
"Is it safe for you to be driving like this?" Eli asked, growing concerned.
"Probably not." (Y/N) answered with a shrug.
"Drive up! We're next!" Huo interrupted.
By the times they finally made it to school, the car smelled like fast food and Eli had rolled down the windows to air it out.
Some girls from the beauty department watched the expensive car curiously, gossiping about who it could belong to.
They gasped when Eli and Huo stepped out, but their excitement died down when (Y/N) stepped out.
(Y/N), feeling their stares, turned and gave the girls a smug grin before turning back to Huo.
"Make sure you roll those back up when you get home, okay?" (Y/N) reminded.
The boy only nodded excitedly and held his hands out to get the keys, not listening to what the girl was saying.
"And throw away your trash."
"Mhm." Huo hummed absentmindedly, making grabby hands more aggressively.

(Y/N) sighed, realizing that Huo wasn't hearing a word she was saying. She hesitantly dropped the keys into the taller boy's hands.
He whooped excitedly and immediately hopped back into the car and starting the car.
"I'll see you guys later!" He said, not waiting for a response before driving off.
"Take care of her..." (Y/N) whispered, watching the car drive off into the city.
"I'm sure it'll be fine. Huo's not as dumb as he makes himself seem." Eli reassured, laughing when (Y/N) grimaced at him.
"I wish I could share your optimism." She said quietly.
Eli stood there for a moment, not really wanting to go to class quite yet. (Y/N) was still staring in the direction that Huo drove off in.
'Is she worried about the car or Huo? She didn't seem that concerned when she let me drive...'
He pressed his lips together and looked down at (Y/N), his hands tightening around his backpack's straps.
"Well, I'll see you later. Do you think I can get a ride home?" He asked.
(Y/N) shook her head, seemingly breaking out of her trance.
"Uh, yeah. We can't hang out though, I've got work tonight."
'With Huo, right?' Eli thought bitterly but covered it up with a sweet smile.
"Thanks! I'll see you after school then."
"Mhm."
With that, the two teens went their own separate ways.
---------------------------
Crystal, Yui, Zack and (Y/N) were waking down the hall together during break. Crystal and Yui were both holding a large stack of papers while (Y/N) was carrying a smaller stack of textbooks. Zack was just... there.
(Y/N) was walking next to Crystal, abandoning Zack with Yui, who was trying to flirt with him as usual. Instead of listening, Zack focused on trying to step on the back of (Y/N)'s shoes.
When (Y/N) tried to retaliate, she swept her leg out to try and kick Zack in the knee, she accidentally tripped Crystal.
Before the shorter girl could hit the floor, Zack managed to catch her with his leg.
"Look what you did! Dumbass." He hissed, flaring st (Y/N).
"Shut up." (Y/N) grumbled, helping Crystal back onto her feet. "Are you okay?"
"Umm, yeah I'm fine." She answered, blushing when (Y/N) brushed off her shoulders and patted her head.

"That was my bad." She admitted, almost shyly.
"It's fine!" Crystal accepted the almost apology, wanting to put the whole embarrassing event behind her. However, it just got worse when Daniel made his way over.
"I'll take these." He said, picking up the papers that Crystal had dropped and carried them for her. She looked up at Daniel, who was giving her a close eyed smile.
'This guy again... does he have kindness in his bones? He helped me yesterday... cheap compassion.'
"Wow, thanks for the help, you guys." (Y/N) said with a sigh.
"Oh, (Y/N)! Sorry, let me just..." Daniel stuck his tongue out in concentration and tried to balance the papers in one hand so he could take (Y/N)'s books in the other.
All of this was done without much grace, and he almost dropped the papers on top of Crystal.
"Woahwoahwoah!" (Y/N) gasped, using her head to stop the pile from toppling over since both of her hands were occupied with carrying the books.
To make the pile straight again, she nudged them forward with her forehead. Once she was done, she stepped back and looked at her handiwork (or headiwork lol) with a proud smile, despite her messy hair.
"There." She said proudly.
"Wow, finally using your head." Zack teased.
"We should have just amputated your arms." (Y/N) grumbled.
"Hey! Be nice! Crystal, I swear they're not always like this." Daniel promised, giving the small girl a pleading look.
She was quiet for a moment, staring up at the three who seemed to get along so well. It almost felt like she was intruding...
"Please don't be nice to me." She said quietly, earning confused looks from the trio.
"I'm thankful but... you being nice to me just makes my life more difficult."
'Huh? What is she talking about?' Daniel wondered, not seeing the glares from all of the other girls in the hallway.
He didn't hear the nasty whispers.
"Gosh, she's pretending to be weak."
"Is she hitting on Daniel?"
"Always surrounded by men..."
"She thinks she's invincible because she's got (L/N) by her side..."
Yui's glare was the harshest. 'That piggy doesn't know her place. Is she flirting with Zack?'
Back in class, Crystal made sure to hide her vandalized textbooks from (Y/N), fully aware of how the girl could be observing you even when she looked like she was off in la-la land.
She also made sure to lose (Y/N) in the lunch crowd. 'I don't want her getting the same treatment for just being around me.'
She tried to avoid (Y/N) at lunch too, and watched helplessly as broiled fish was piled higher and higher onto her tray.
She obviously didn't feel her temporary guardian's gaze.
Those girls knew that Crystal was in the bathroom stall, listening to them say horrible things about her. Crystal planned on waiting it out, fearing what those jealous girls were capable of.
She only exited the stall when she saw Yui's shoes walk out of the bathroom. She let out a relieved sigh and walked out, washing her hands before leaving the bathroom.
When she saw what was going on in the hallway when she stepped out, Crystal had to stifle a gasp.
Those girls hadn't known that (Y/N) was waiting outside of the bathroom for Crystal, wanting to offer her a ride home again. When she heard what those girls were saying in front of Crystal, she obviously wasn't happy.
(Y/N) currently had Yui pinned to a locker by her shoulders, slightly lifting the other girl off of the ground so she was standing on her toes and both girls were face to face.
Crystal watching in shock as (Y/N) leaned in close to threateningly whisper something into Yui's ear before letting her drop back to the floors and walking off as nothing happened.
Crystal hesitated to walk any further. She'd have to walk past Yui in order to leave the building.
Crystal stood there, unmoving and unsure of what to do until Yui spoke up.
"Would you just go?" The girl snapped, glaring you at Crystal despite the humiliated flush that was still on her cheeks.
"Just leave before I get angry." She hissed.
Crystal quickly nodded and scampered past.
'I know (Y/N) was hired to be my bodyguard, but I wasn't actually expecting her to do something...'

Join me on my journey, provide helpful criticism, edits, or whatever suits your mind! I appreciate any and all feedback!!!! We also have a Discord for anybody who wants to talk all things Rise of the Paragon!! Genesis Discord Also, consider joining my Patreon! Fair Warning: Blue Screens, and somewhat overpowered protagonists! The main character's point of view is described in first person. Every other character is in third person. That's just how I've chosen to present my writing style. REWRITE/REVISE is currently in progress. Any suggestions? Comment on their respective chapters!

The Rocky Shore
This is a LitRPG series. Every story you read here takes place in the same virtual world, with the same rules and limitations. Characters will travel, explore vast and dangerous realms, overcome obstacles, meet one another, enter into conflicts with one another, forge alliances, make horrible mistakes, and occasionally just die. A technological singularity has been achieved, and humanity has been trapped in a virtual world by a super-intelligent, self-improving artificial intelligence. This program is not malicious at all. In fact, it desires nothing except the happiness and fulfillment of every human it has copied into itself. If its decisions seem strange to you, that's only because its reasoning is far beyond ours. It recognizes that humans cannot be happy without enemies to overcome and goals to achieve, as well as the possibility of failure and death. The world it has created may be heaven or hell, depending on the free choices of the people it contains. The non-player characters who live in this realm have no idea that they are part of a vast computer system. They seem real enough, but there is no way to tell if they are truly self-aware. Even the system that created them isn't certain. This is world in which all the things that humans are used to dealing with in the abstract: skills, talents, knowledge, reputation, social status, morality, even love, exist as readable statistics that players can see and interact with objectively. This has many curious and complex effects on how people perceive themselves and the world around them. A few quick notes on the system: -Death is permanent -The system interface can only be accessed at certain locations. -Magic of diverse kinds is available and useful, but is not a good substitute for skills, physicallity, or mental prowess. Non-magical characters are common and competitive. -There is no inventory system. Characters must physically carry everything they wish to have on their person. -Healing is slow and difficult. Magical Healing is all but unheard of. Protagonists: Raymond Garrison- A man in his late twenties who used to work as a forklift operator in Idaho. His path leads him to work as a mercenary, protecting a small community of humans and goblins from the Seelie Fae who wish to exterminate them. Patricia Chandler- A elderly British woman who arrives in this new world with her grandson Kyle and her granddaughter Elizabeth. Never having dealt with rpg game mechanics before, she is in for a rough time, but she is determined to keep her grandkids alive in a world full of danger and evil. Jamil Mesbah- An Egyptian woman who once worked as a technical writer. Her path leads into a vast and hostile forest, where she must master both her magical abilities and her survival skills in order to succeed. Enjoy your travels, friends.
