《Mission Jurassic [Zach Mitchell x Male!Reader]》Chapter 12

Waking up early in the morning, you immediately arrived at the control room. It was filled with unused computers as well as a giant screen at the front. Sitting on one of the seats was Donnie as he was the only other person there.
"You sure don't mess around with the time." Donnie smiled once he saw you.
"Donnie this mission is really important to me." You said, "If I mess up, that's it."
"Yeah, yeah, I know." Donnie sighed, agreeing with you. He then rubbed his hands in anticipation. "Now let's check out that picture."
You then passed him your phone. You watched as Donnie used his technical skills to get the picture on the computer and then make it clearer. You blinked, seeing what the end results were.
"Whoa! This is incredible!" Donnie gasped, "Is this a new dinosaur? Cause, I've never seen anything like this."
"I doubt it." You noted, crossing your arms. "It looks like a hybrid. This must've been the new attraction Claire has."
"A hybrid?" He repeated, staring at you. "Did you see it up close?"
"No." You shook your head. "I never got to. I should've but I was busy."
"But the question still remains," Donnie continued, leaning back against his chair. "Why would Hoskins want a hybrid?"
"It's definitely for military purposes." You confirmed, "I heard him express interest in using the raptors for that reason. This hybrid is like a backup plan."
"That's a terrible idea." He shook his head in dismay. "You can't forcefully control animals or hybrids."
"I wish Hoskins knew that." You breathed softly. "I should also add that Dr. Wu has dinosaur DNA from 22 years ago. So if this hybrid fails, then he could always make more.

"One step at a time," Donnie stated, "You're here for Hoskins, not Wu."
"Can I at least try though?" You asked. Maybe you could kill two birds with one stone.
"No," Donnie said. His tone grew serious. "Boss lady did not authorize you to go after Wu. Besides, you could get in serious trouble if you go against orders."
You sighed. As much as he was right, you still wished you could. After all, Dr. Wu was right here. You even saw him pass by as you went into the control room. He didn't notice you, but you sure as hell noticed him.
"Fuck." You gasped softly. A thought instantly popped into your mind. "Owen went there yesterday. Hopefully, he made it out."
"Who's Owen?" He asked.
"He's friends with my pops." You answered, "And he works here as well."
"Wow," Donnie mused, "Small world."
"You have no idea." You commented, thinking about Barry while also heading out.
"Hey!" Donnie called you. "Hey! Wait a minute!"
"What is it?" You stopped.
"Who's that guy you keep hanging out with?" He questioned, "I just see you hanging out with him through the cameras."
"His name is Zach." You responded.
"Do you...like him?" Donnie inquired. His tone was quiet yet awkward.
You raised your eyebrow. Why was he asking this question?
"Cause, if he breaks your heart--"
"Donnie!" Your cheeks grew warm. "It's--it's not--"
"If he breaks your heart," He continued, "Then I'll knock him out."
Donnie proceeded to make air punches just to prove his point. You couldn't help but facepalm at his antics.
"First off, you have a shitty punch." You rolled your eyes, unamused. You then heaved, a tiny smile eventually cracked through your unimpressed facade. "And, yeah, I guess."

"Really?" He blinked in surprise. He then smiled. "That's great!"
"Yeah," You nodded, controlling your beating heart. "I, um, better leave."
"Yeah, yeah, go ahead." Donnie waved, "If you need help, just text me."
***
"Hey!" You heard the brothers as you walked into the center. What was once empty was now filled with lots of tourists. You then turned around, seeing Gray run in your direction with Zach trailing behind.
"Zach, Gray." You greeted, "What's going on?"
"We're going to the Gyrospheres," Gray announced, grabbing your hand. "Come on, let's go!"
You let Gray pull you into the Gyrospheres' location. You stared at your phone as he did so. The tracker showed that Hoskins was on the move. You wanted to follow him, but you couldn't. After this, you would certainly do some investigating on Hoskins.

And wakes up from his coma in his original world. Except, it isn't his world, exactly. None of that matters though, because he is so over all that drama. This life is going to be carefree. Or at least, that's the plan. Note: The 4th wall is thin on this one, so the MC often breaks it. Tales of the Legendary Scholar
They meet in the most unlikely moment and turned their life around. Freidrech newly arrived in his own nation's capital city, which is so foreign to him compared to his village's idyllic and nondiscriminatory atmosphere, after he is forced to come. Now, he is facing a royal prince and tells him to bow. This draws out one of his late father's teachings from the deepest recesses in his mind. "The blood of your great ancestors runs in your veins. Don't easily bow down to anyone, or accept suppression by any being, not even from a monarch, unless you pledge your allegiance to him. Also, giving in to oppression is directly telling the oppressor that you're easy prey and open for manipulation." He is uncertain on how to face this oppression right now. Will he bows or not? What will he do to uphold his father's words while keeping his life safe? As for the prince, Theodrech has nothing to do with Freidrech, so he wishes to let this slip, but the boy opens his mouth and proposes the most ludicrous challenge he ever heard and triggers his curiosity. "I, Freidrech Goederf Gerboud, son of the late Village Chief Louvel Gerboud of Wrilon, will challenge you, Your Highness, to a battle of riddles… If you win, I will not only bow but be your servant for the rest of my life." This amuses the prince. It is the first he met a boy of the same age who is not intimidated by the air of authority he projects. Rather, this boy challenges him. "Why are you so headstrong? In fact, bowing to me is an honor. You saw the King's noble Knights. When they saw me, they bowed," says Theodrech, testing Freidrech. "Allow me to be forward, Your Highness. For me, bowing to a monarch does not guarantee loyalty. If I were you, I rather have men who stand straight in my presence but who got my back, than bowing men who are dreaming of my death," replies Freidrech. The prince’s curiosity increases. A huge smile is seen on his face. Prince Theodrech decides to take Freidrech under his wing. Little did they know, this boy who Prince Theodrech takes in as his confidant and friend in the most ridiculous fashion is someone indispensable in his life and the one who can help him succeed the throne when he almost believes he has lost. Thus, the Tales of the Legendary Scholar begins. ------ o ------ Old Synopsis: A famous ancient adage stated, behind a successful man is a woman BUT… In these lands, the monarchs are seeking not a woman to stand behind them but the man hailed as the Legendary Scholar.
