《His Midnight Angel》Chapter 22

(Alexandra's POV)
I stood completely still, not moving and hardly breathing. I watched myself from afar. I watched as I walked toward a man in a helmet, I saw his back so I couldn't see his face. I watched as past Alex pulled the mask off and kiss the man. I saw love and compassion on her face. Love and compassion such as I had never known. She smiled warmly at her lover. Her smile lit up her whole face. I watched as they walked hand in hand back the way she came.
The scene changed. I saw that past Alex was standing in the middle of a battle field. Tears streaming down her face. Bodies lay in piles around the place. So many were dead. Her face was dirty with blood and soot. Her hair pulled back off her face. Her silver eyes were gleaming with unshed tears. Her sword hung at her sides, blood covering the blade.
"So much death..." she whispered, heart broken.
"I know love..." her lover said to her. That voice... it seemed so familiar. His back was to me.
"How can they expect this of me? How can Adelphi ask me to fight her Wars? These wars that cause so much pain and sorrow..." She said desperately.
"Because it is our duty My Love.. " his deep voice sounded out.
The scene changed again, this time I was standing behind the Lover. I still couldn't see his face, he had a hood up. He was whispering something, he was talking so quietly I couldn't here him. Suddenly the doors opened with a creek. I watched as Adelphi walked into the room.
"My Queen." He said.
"Jasper." Adelphi said solemnly.
"Is something wrong my Queen?"
"My sisters. I love them" she laughed slightly. "But they always knew how to try my patients."

"Oh forgive me I thought something was the matter."
"Tell me.." Adelphi trailed off.
"Yes my queen?"
"What do you see in her? My sister? Why have a warrior when you could have a queen?" She said seductively At this point Adelphi had moved closer to Jasper. I couldn't tell what his expression was.
I saw him back away quickly, revulsion made clear in his stance.
"My Queen. I am loyal to you. But I love her. I would rather have her as she is, a warrior than a Queen who preys on taken men." And with that he turned toward me and stormed out.
Shock registered through my body as I saw his face.
The scene changed again. This time it was of Alex and Jasper. They had their heads put together.
"My love I must go" Alex said to him. She was wearing a silver dress. A dress that flowed to the floor. Her hair was flowing down her back, a cloak strewn over her shoulders.
"Please just a while longer?" He said desperately.
"I can't. Adelphi has demanded that I go to Lestua as an ambassador. I think she wishes to marry me off to their prince."
"All the more reason to stay!"
"Please My love. Think of me in the nights. Where my crest upon your hand." I watched as past Alex took of a ring on her hand and place it in Jasper's. "Know that I love you. And when I look up at the stars I will think of you always." And with that said she placed a sweet tender kiss on his lips. Before he opened his eyes to look into hers she left the room.
The scene changed again. I was now standing in a great library. I saw Artemis move through the stacks.

"So you and Jasper seem quite friendly." She called out.
"So what of it?" Alex called from a different end.
"Nothing... just know that if Adelphi finds out it'll be your head."
"Adelphi? Why would that matter?"
"She seems rather found of him that's all." She said
"Jasper.. he's..I-" Alex stuttered
"Yes?"
"I think I love him..." she whispered.
"You love him?"
"I think so."
"How does he make you feel?" Artemis inquired.
"He makes me feel... whole. He makes me feel special and when I'm around him my heart starts racing and their are knots in my stomach, but when I'm around him that changes.." she said dreamily.
"Well in that case you have my approval." Artemis called. "Hey I think I found the book!"
The scene changed again, this time I recognized it. I watched Alex rushed toward Jasper.
"Jasper! I don't have a lot of time but I need to tell you... it's Adelphi, she has betrayed us. Artemis has banished her. She plans to send me down to watch over her. I don't know how long I'll be gone. Just know that I love you my love. And nothing will change that." She said quickly.
Shock registered on his face. He didn't have time to reply because Alex had pulled Jasper toward her in a passionate kiss. When they pulled away tears were visible in her eyes.
"I love you..." she whispered.
"I love you too. I know you must do this for the sake of our people, that you must protect others, I love you and I will think of you always."
"She plans to send you down too.. we just won't know each other." She said.
"Very well" Jasper pulled out a dagger. He took the blade across his arm. And then handed the blade to Alex.
"What's this?!" She said alarmed
"Matching scars. So we will know always when we see each other." I watched as the blade crossed her arm almost identically to his.
"I love you" she whispered to him.. and the scene faded.
~~~~~
I sat up with a jolt. Shock radiated through my core. How? That's not possible. I looked out the window. I saw Michael and Daniel crossing toward the cabin. I walked slowly away from the window and sat back down on the bed... it should be impossible, but it makes sense, I can truly honestly say I love him. More than I ever thought possible. More than I love my friends. I looked back out the window.
"Michael..."
