Edward's POV (when he left the conversation)
Me and Isabella Swan? The thought alone angered me, I wasn't meant for a human, I didn't even have feelings for her!
"Well, that explains why I can't read her mind," I muttered and got up and headed upstairs to my room and shut the door.
I could obviously still hear Athena's angelic voice continuing to tell the rest of my family about those horrid books. So who did I really have feelings for? There had never actually been someone who really caught my attention in that way. Or until Athena came, I felt a sort of bond... far from being a family like one. Athena? That would be absurd. Or would it? Could we even be together? I could already imagine her soft lips on mine, moving in sync. All those times I had been so close to leaning in but stopped myself came flowing back to me and I regretted holding back.
I sighed and walked over to the shelf filled with CD's and played one. Rêverie by Debussy. Walking over to the black sofa near one of the big windows, I tried to calm down, or as much as it was possible for a vampire to do so.
I couldn't help but remember the way all those boys looked at her at school earlier. I remember the feeling of wanting to punch the stuffing out of them especially Mike, I still do, though I had never really had the need to do that, but now, I suddenly did. I had Athena. I felt like she was mine to take care of, though of course she could take care of herself, but I felt protective over her, not as much as I had for anyone else. Then, another thought came to my head. Did she want me in that way? Or did she just think of my as the annoying vampire dude from Twilight? Those books seriously ruined everything, now she probably won't even give me a chance if I tried. But what if she wanted nothing with me and instead wanted the boys from school?

Through out all the thoughts running through my head at the moment, I pondered on a specific one; the way she had also looked at me earlier. I noticed and monitored her every breath, her every move, enough to notice how she tensed up more than normal when she was around me as well and her breath hitched up. Only a few days ago I had seen her slightly lean in but snap back when we were sitting on the sofa, but that was probably just my imagination playing with my emotions.
I should probably let it go. But I can't. Every time i'm near her I tense up and if I look at her I get the sudden urge to lean in all over again. I had to make a move soon enough, how though? I do not know. But I simply have to do it. Before anyone else does.
3rd person POV
Edward found himself in Athena's room as she slept later that day. She was quiet and it barely looked like she was breathing. She looked lifeless and had it not been for her beating hearts he would not have been able to tell if she was alive or not. Her eyes were closed and her lips barely parted, showing parts of her fangs. However, he didn't lean too much over her knowing she would most likely get mad. Still, he thought about what she had told him. Twilight. He didn't like it and he was glad it was not his reality.
It wasn't easy to learn of another reality. Nevertheless, certain events had come and gone. Alice had seen three vampires heading their way, but they were only passing through and it was not yet.
Carlisle's home, Alice thought and Edward stopped listening as he turned on music.
In another reality, his family and many others would go through a lot of pain. He would marry a human and get a child. It was certainly not what he had pictured for himself. More like the forever loner. But Athena kept pulling him in. He could not explain.

He sighed. It was still early and not even close to midnight. Athena was fast asleep and the pull was getting stronger. He knew that she was close to him, yet not close enough.
"Come on Edward, let's go hunting," Emmett's voice boomed through the house.
Alice and Rosalie looked up as their brother passed them and disappeared together with Emmett and Jasper. Freeing him from the bounds of home. The two sisters were flipping through magazines, throwing opinions now and then what they thought would fit Athena. At least Athena was up for suggestions and not too difficult.
Alice knew that she had gained another sister and slowly she was becoming clearer in her visions, but not yet completely there. She would gain another sister with a sense of fashion and girly interests when needed, but at the same time keep a part of herself present at all times to show that no one could boss her around.
Rose was closer to Athena, they had bonded more than she and Alice had. Soon she would get the chance as well, but the new family member needed to take her time and adjust to her new life. It would not be very easy with what was coming her way. Little did they all know though, someone out there was holding the threads of knowledge and power. Only they held the answers.....
"This has gone too far! I did not get Hades to move her soul into that world so you could play with her and experiment! They are soulmates. The best match I've seen in eons, and here you go and tamper with her soul!"
"We are all at fault," Demeter said beside me.
The blonde Goddess was raging. The Goddess of Love was not happy with us. I had given the human – together with my wife, the ability to help vampires with their blood lust, so we could create others in that world. She was the answer. She was the key to get other creatures into that land. It would all start with her.
"Really? You are really going through with this? Do you know how much pain you are putting her through? How much complications? Your'e condemning the poor girl into something she didn't ask for! A whole new dimension, and to make things worse, a book reality! Persephone and Hades helped us to bring these two souls together when I saw the match perfectly, they are made for each other yet you are willing to further tamper with it. Oh, and nearly threatening Persephone as well to give her a little gift." Aphrodite was seething and I leaned back on my throne.
"It was necessary. We needed the gift of flowers that only Persephone could give," Demeter said, eyes ablaze.
"We have tampered with nature." Gaia's voice was ice cold as she made her presence known and I suppressed a shudder.
"We have no choice but to let this play out," I said calm. "She's not human, she's a new species. Let us experiment with it and if it doesn't work out we shall remove it"
"And you're sacrificing her! She's meant for love!" Aphrodite screeched.
"Calm down, all of you!" my brother yelled. "What is done is done. There is nothing we can do, but watch."
Aphrodite huffed and crossed her arms over her chest. Blue eyes storming as her gaze wandered over the room. Briefly meeting mine but I knew well enough to look away.
"You are all sick!" Aphrodite hissed and disappeared in sparks of gold stars and hearts.
"The only reason she still is alive is because of Nyx. Had she not gifted her with vampirism she would not be alive right now," Gaia said and left as well.
"What do we do now?" Demeter asked and looked me straight in the eyes with a somber expression.
"We wait," I said and looked to my brother. He nodded in agreement as we all made our leave.

For the game was not over, and it was still his to lose.

Changes
Changes is a collection of three stories that take place after the events of Edict. It would benefit the reader to read both Hy'Ruh-ha and Edict. Story one: The Monk and The Princess After a several months break from duty, Soletus, is asked to serve by the Patriarch as an escort to a conference the Brotherhood is attending. The only catch is he's acting as a second warden because someone wants him promoted. All he has to do is be at his best. However, his best is put to the test as he led surly men and then get whisked off to solve a disturbing plot with a determined and bored princess. Notice: Please note, that Soletus, aka main character is asexual. That is part of being a neth elf. This story delves into information about it neth and gets into the neth elf experience a few times in this story. You've been warned. Also note: As much as I didn't want to put it in this story, avoiding it was a futile effort on my part. There were things I needed to explain about Soletus and it's hard to write personal tales about character when avoiding talking about certain personal aspects of them. Story Two: The Sun and Stars - Summary and Date TBA
