Chapter 5 The City of tyrule
As fast as Leo rose into the air he fell even faster. He crashed right back into the gound
“What the hell polo!” He yelled
“What? That isn't supposed to happen. That can- wait a second you three Ill be right back.”
In a matter of seconds he yelled for us to come over. Leo was covered in dirt so he tried wiping himself off. Ty conjured a water gun to wash him off. “Alright hit me with the wind gun now” Leo exclaimed. To my surprise Ty brought out a blow dryer. “You know anything in the shape of a gun I can create.”
“That sounds pretty useful magic you got there”
“It is. I can even make food with a potato launcher.”
We continued to where Uncle Polo was to find him looking off of the sky island.
Greed was right behind us and she was also surprised by the sight. We were above a gargantuan turtle. But on top of the turtle was a giant skyscraper that dwarfed the one from my home city, and at the center was an absolutely massive temple with a giant tower extruding from the center.
“That right there is the City of Tyrule. Also the headquarters of the Vale.” Polo informed
I always heard stories of the Vale. “Calling them a group is a bad term for these people. More like an organization or corporation. From Chefs to Assassins. They can be anyone and everyone. But not likely as their numbers are little over three thousand. And over the last ninety years three hundred thousand people tried to join their ranks. But less people have started showing up to the trials ever since the Shingon Incident.” Polo told us.
“How do you know so much Uncle?”

“Because I used to be a member. Best years of my life. So carefree and the pay was amazing. You can practically do anything in the entire world with a Vale badge.”
“And I'm going to be the greatest one of them all,” Leo said with pride.
“Yeh as if” Ty refuted
“Well I should get going” Leo said”
“No… I changed my mind you are not ready”
“But you just said??”
‘NO!”
The yell was even directed at me but I knew that making my Uncle an enemy of mine would mean certain death.
“All 3 of you would be squashed by any adept Ki user. Prepare to be given hell for the next year” Greed said, trying to hold back laughter.
“You know for a… dog? You talk too much trash” Ty said
The look Greed gave to Ty before viciously attacking him made even Uncle Polo scared.
Ty laid there motionless.
“He'll be fine” Leo said
“Ok you three for the next year you will be training under Me and Greed. One thing Marco”
He handed me a small dagger. The curved edge with a hooked stab part on the dull side.
“This dagger has helped me through some tough times and now I don't even use it. So here, as a late birthday for the last 11 birthdays I’ve missed.”
The blade's beauty was next level. The edge was perfectly sharp. I've never had any form of combat aside from my Jiu-Jitsu classes I had when I was little.
“We’ll also need to talk about the Elephant in the room. Your Nyphen.”
My Uncle moved without a sound. He flicked my forehead and it felt like I was kicked out of my body. I was floating just outside.
“I didn't think anyone with Soul kicking was alive in this era” My body said

“Nyphen, what is your goal in my nephew's body?”
“You know nothing of how we work don't you. Only 1 Npyhen is alive and is able to take over a human host. The rest of us are just glorified downloading disk’s to our power.
And Marco was lucky enough to be blessed with such a being. I'll be gone in about 3 years, that's how much Ki I have remaining. But Marco has already started the integration period.
As you could see by the horn he was fighting that Low ranking demon over there. And no you don't need to worry he cant access more than a fraction of the Ki at a time”
“You're lying. I know you are going to create spectral form to increase what's left of your life span,”
“Caught me red handed”
I watched a purple wisp excited my body. My body then flopped to the ground
And what emerged was a translucent purple being floating above my body.
‘You know I can't do much in this state right?”
“I know. That's why I want you to mentor Marco.”
“Wasn't I already?”
“Don't get snappy with Nyphen.”
“Oh scary”
No matter who he was talking to, Nyle was also full of sarcasm.
Wait a minute while I'm in this state. Can anyone see me? Leo and Greed weren't waving at all. Almost like time had stopped.
“Fine ill train the boy more than what i was. And ill make sure he doesn't die.”
“Good.”
The next moment everything went black until I woke up coughing in my body.
We were inside the cabin. I was too tired to even move. The drawbacks of tapping into my Nyphen power had taken effect. I laid back down and closed my eyes.
I woke up the next morning hearing yelling from outside. I said Leo was slashing his sword at a tree. But someone I never saw was behind him. A huge brown lady. I went out of my room for Ty to be right there.looking like he was going to knock on my door.
“Master Polo told me to come get you” He said
He handed me a bag of clothes with some basic leather padding.
“Put those on,” He said.
The sleek black with gray leather at the chest and other vital spots.
The tight fitting suit was easy to move around in. Also in the bag was a small black box. When I opened it it scanned my body.
“No obvious sign of injury or bodily improvement.” it said in a robotic voice.
I grabbed the dagger I was given off my nightstand and made my way outside.
Still looking at the magnificent weapon I noticed an etching right below the hilt. “Weeping Bellow” What an overly edgy name.
When I went out the giant nine foot tall woman with tan skin looked at me.
“Oh yeah, forget that you saw me in my animal form. We don't use that much anymore”
“Greed?”
“Greed is just a codename I was given when I joined The Vale.”
“Perfect you are all here” Polo said coming out of the trees.
He was wearing a long baggy robe. It was a nice crimson color.
“You three will have to try and catch dinner. But with a catch. None of you are allowed to use Ki. So no magic.”

The Villain's Double Life
“The Villain’s Double Life as the Hero’s Mentor," “Demon Nobles Want to Live Too: A Hero-Raising Simulator for the Transmigrated Villain," “Just Because I’m a Villain Doesn’t Mean I Want the World to End!” Cyrus Calvide was the second son of an aristocratic lord; haughty, vain and power-hungry. One day, when his ancestral inheritance manifested, he discovered he was able to steal other’s powers and abilities using demonic magic. Taking this as a sign that he was destined to rule over others and become the new king of this land, he poisoned his father, killed his elder brother, and embarked on the path to greatness, taking advantage of a demonic invasion to consolidate power and harvest the abilities of others in a cruel and bloody fashion. Until he was summarily defeated by the Hero as a mid-game boss battle and executed for his crimes, of course. When a dedicated fan of the RPG “Next to Eden” awakened in the body of the cruelest future Count, four years before the beginning of the game, he pledged to live humbly. He would let his brother lead and support the Hero from the shadows to ensure the demon invasion would be defeated and he could enjoy life in peace. Rather, he would have, if he hadn’t gotten the Hero’s mentor killed in a freak monster attack before the Hero’s training could even begin. How was he supposed to live a life of peace and luxury if the Hero couldn’t stop the end of the world!? Donning a mask, Cyrus took up mentoring the Hero himself; how hard could it possibly be? . . . Four years later, the kind jack-of-all-trades hero Leon had become a twisted powerhouse: alienating his party members, clearing enemy encounters in a single magical blast, and coldly ignoring the affections of the girl whose love would have allowed him to clear the final boss. He seemed to have plastered himself to his Master’s side, instead. Cyrus bit back his despair while the hero reached out to grasp his hand. “Please stop ignoring the saint, Leon; you can't beat the Demon King by grinding stats! You need the power of love, remember?” “Don’t worry, Master,” Leon smiled as he traced the lines of Cyrus’s palm gently, almost reverently. “I have all the love I need.” VDL is two parts plot and worldbuilding, one part slow-build gay romance, starring a man far too proud to admit he's in over his head and the hero who loves him. Should be updating weekly.

The Epiphany Colony
Brad Asher has been a private detective on the Epiphany Colony orbiting Mars for about a year before stumbling into a conspiracy that threatens the safety and stability of the colony. Note that the story here is the first draft and has a lot of ideas, characters, and plotlines that I ended up dropping in the final version that I released here currently available on Kindle Unlimited. The entire second half was restructured, as I ended up not being satisfied with some of the things that I introduced and felt like it had strayed too far from my initial vision of a space-based detective noir story.
