Chapter 18, Meeting Our Crushes
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay but I feel like I'm about to throw up.
The girls woke up bright and early to get everything they needed ready, Hallow generously helped the younger girls out with their things because they didn't want them to hurt themselves, Venus was trying on their platform converses while Dahlia was getting ready to burn their clothes for not looking good on her body.
"Dahlia, give me the matches, right this instant."
Hallow demanded as they stuck their hand out, Dahlia reluctantly handed the matches and the box back to Hallow before throwing the clothes they had set out the night before, on to the ground in frustration.
Charlotte was downstairs making tiktoks and just chilling around since they had everything they needed already, ready.
"Here, why don't you try on these ripped jeans with that croptop?"
Hallow suggested as they grabbed the outfit from the closet and set it out on the bed, Dahlia just looked at the outfit before grabbing it, the girls had confidence with one another so it didn't bother anyone if they changed in front of them.
Dahlia tried on the outfit and smiled to herself in the mirror, it took a second before the smile dropped and she walked to the closet to grab some sneakers, Hallow walked over to her and they hugged.
"Don't get too shy when you see Madeleine, just remember that we're here."
Hallow whispered in the younger girl's ear before walking out of the room, Dahlia took off the outfit and hung it up before laying down on the bed to take a nap.
Angel was somewhere hiding in the house, she didn't want the time to pass by because of how she was, first impressions always have to be good and well, this is what scared her.
Mia was walking around with the biggest smile on her face when she stumbled across Angel sitting by the steps with a blank expression, now Mia had two options:
A. Walk away and continue to do what they were originally going to do
B. Ask what happened and help Angel out.
Mia took option b and sat down beside Angel to ask her what was going and why did she look like she had seen the grabber in her room, that made Angel smile and they began to speak.
Angel began to ramble on about how nervous they were about talking to Miguel, there wasn't anything to be worried about though, Miguel seemed like a nice person and Mia made sure to tell Angel that.
"If he's rude to you, just whip out the screenshot of his feet and speak about how he got the grippers."
Mia joke as she tried lighting the mood, Angel laughed and hugged Mia before getting up from the ground and walking with her to Angel's room so they can choose an outfit for her, there was a little bit of Hallow inside everyone.
Actually, there were bits and pieces of everyone in everybody else that nobody had noticed, Venus wasn't as bubbly as they were now, Dahlia wasn't as sweet as she was now, Angel wasn't as talkative as she was now, Hallow wasn't as motherly as they were now, Charlotte wasn't as open minded as she was now, and Mia wasn't as open to trying new things like she was now.
With the help of everybody in the house, slowly but surely, all the girls grew out of their shell and began to be their true selves without feeling embarrassed or ashamed, there's still moments where someone feels a little scared to speak their mind but it happens anyways.
All it takes is a small push and the person will speak to everyone separately about what's been bothering them or what's been going on with them, but it still happens.
It was night, everyone has taken a second shower and were now getting dressed, Mia was messaging Brady about when and what part of the park they were about to meet at, Brady told her to go to the seesaws.
So everyone rushed to get their clothes and shoes on before putting on any accessories, doing their hair and making sure they smelled good, Charlotte made sure they had everything in a big-ish bookbag in case of emergencies.
When everyone was already dressed and ready to go, they piled into the car and put their seatbelts on before driving to the park, everyone was speaking about how nervous they were and possibly overthinking all of it.
Okay but I feel like I'm about to throw up.
Mia stated as she pushed the button for the window to go down so that the wind could give her air to breathe and relax her nausea, Angel was sitting beside her and grabbed her hand for reassurance that everything was going to be okay just like how Mia did to her.
Charlotte was singing along to the songs on their playlist while Hallow only lip sung to it as she drove down the empty and dark road, Venus was fiddling with her hands.
Dahlia was just staring out the window trying to find a piece of mind where subconsciously, they reached over for Venus and held their hand, a smile broke out on both of the girls's faces as they gripped each other's hand tightly.
All they needed was confidence and reassurance, they needed to believe that everything will go great and it will, that's all you need.
That's when they began to say affirmations, they could only hope that things would go well when they finally got to the parking lot of the park and saw a group of teens hang around the seesaw.
It was a now or never moment, the girls didn't feel prepared enough for this but it was already too late when Hallow stopped the car and got out of the car.
Now or never, am I right?
Time Can't Heal This
I've always hated the saying "Time heals all wounds." Maybe in most cases that may be true. In my experience with life and pain however, time has only ever bled out the wound. The scars that the wounds left behind though, are often so deep that just looking at them becomes painful to the mind. Time only heals what you let go of. Sometimes letting go and moving on just doesn't feel possible; no matter how much time you let pass you by.These poems signify what time hasn't healed for me.
